Yes! Another straight natural. We need more of you on RU-vid. We were running out of options here. Your hair is long enough for me. I'm a lazy straight natural as well. I only use deep conditioners that work in 5 minutes or less. I actually have to wash twice a week though because I have a problematic scalp. I use my Revair each time to stretch and twist it up and only flat iron 1x/month. I prefer twists on stretched hair and I don't have anymore single strand knots. Thanks for sharing!

Yes, getting rid of those single strand knots has been worth it all!
@SundriedStars19

question! So you do twist outs on your blow-dried hair most of the month, and then only rock it flat ironed one a month? Or do you mean you wear it blow dried in twists, and don't unravel the twists until your next wash?

Anything I struggle with and find a solution, I told God I would share it. This is just my journey. I am not an expert in hair, I am just sharing what worked for me. Working with a professional is always recommended( I worked with a natural hair stylist) when learning how to use heat with your hair. To prevent damage. Also, I show a picture of my 4C hair at 7:14 timestamp Thanks so much for watching! ♥️

Finally! A RU-vid hair video from someone in the Chicago area! My hair has been natural for over 30 years, with 7 years of long beautiful locs that I cut off about 20 years ago. I’m lazy with my hair, tired of years of just washing and wearing in a bun, and want to wear it straight for a while in a softly curled bob cut. And hopefully that’ll help me grow my hair evenly (all one length) and longer. Thank you for sharing your hairstylist’s link.

Slowly thinking of becoming a straight natural. Seems like my hair would retain length when it was straight both when I was relaxed and natural. I guess it’s because the hair isn’t breaking off so much from trying to detangle and curling up on itself, causing us to have to rip through our hair.

@@Growingtowaistlength I can't wait definitely. I blew out my hair today, however, I didn't flat iron it because I blew and flat ironed it 2 weeks ago and I didn't want to experience heat damage. I did notice that my curls were looser, however, I rather experience more trial than ever so I look to Sistah's like you to make the transitioning a tad bit easier. For, now I will blow dyer only for a while since I wash my hair every two weeks. Stay safe and well.

@Growingtowaistlength
@Growingtowaistlength 2 года назад
That is something I had talked to my hair stylist about and she said once your hair is heat trained that will help a lot with humidity. It won’t reverse as fast and that has been the case for me. But I’m still very cautious and will sometimes just throw on a wig if I feel the weather isn’t great.

Great video! How often do you comb your hair throughout the weeks/month?
@Growingtowaistlength
@Growingtowaistlength 2 года назад
Hmmm, it definitely varies based on what style I am doing to my hair. If I’m wearing a wig, I’ll leave my hair in braids, then comb through and rebraid once or every other week. If I leave my hair out, it depends on the style I’m doing but maybe once a week..

I also recommend everyone who is able to if they want less heat to braid there hair and then flat iron to avoid blow dry:)
@jlovesj3335
@jlovesj3335 2 года назад
I'll be honest it works better when we blow dry then flat iron versus air drying. A blow dryer will rarely cause heat damage because they go up to like 180 degrees but a flat iron goes up to 450. Once you set the hydrogen bonds in the hair with a blow dryer you will get a great silk press versus air drying with a braid out. You'll get less heat damage because most of the work is done with a blow dryer., It's more healthier for your hair to blow dry it too because it is in it's weakest state when wet and it isn't good to sleep in wet hair or let it stay wet for so long (hydral fatigue) which is VERY common among naturals who air dry because we were taught to be afraid of any kind of heat. But heat is our friend. The trick it to properly blow dry once the section is dry just stop. Most people just keep blow drying dried hair and that can cause damage and breakage. Once the section is warm it's completely dry.
@jbb8261
@jbb8261 Год назад
Nooo this ain’t the way, sis. Just use the heat. I have a revair so even when I blow out my hair, it’s using a third of the heat that a blowdryer does but it’s getting smooth so I can flat iron it in ONE pass.
