You need to take your basil off the pot, out of the soil, you'll notice it's actually 10+basil plants rather than one. Plant each one in their own pot. You should have healthy basil plants growing fast.

@aaiaaiaa

first repot it in a bigger pot. then if you cut them below the upper pair of leaves and abow the next pair of leaves, your plant will grow more stems with leaves. its what they do with trees as well. they cut the top so the lower part gets fluffy. when you buy it from store then maybe this method on video. but its best to grow one plant from seeds and then start to regrow it. it can get really big with right care amd in one pot with soil

Full a jug of water and let it sit with no lid for 1-2 days to get rid of chlorine and other toxic substances. Then use this water for the changes. Change water every 3-4 days and make sure to rinse and feel the basil stem to make sure it’s not slimey. When you cut the basil you have to make sure that it has little leaves that are starting to bloom on the sides so it can keep growing. This method works to get roots but since you cut off all the leaves from the bottom it can't grow. So if you cut off the bud it will die since it has nothing to grow on. I hope this makes sense

@@garfieldthelasagnaking458 it does make sense. But I do leave buds on there too. I sent pictures to a plant expert at the local nursery and they couldn't figure it out either. The same happens to my rosemary transplant cuttings. Fine in water, but soon as moved to soil they die. This is because of transplant shock. The roots are used to a very wet environment, so when moved to soil, you must make sure the soil stays very wet for the first few weeks.
