The potential of hydroponics is very cool, especially with the idea of an automated lighting system. Good luck this winter! It's great to experiment when you don't have to survive on what you're trying out. 🙂
My sister in law will love this , thank you ,l got her name after Thanksgiving, glad you included an affiliate link ... just gotta get her arugula seeds thannk you ladies , be safe , be healthy
Rockwool seed cubes should work in that.. I operated a small indoor hydroponic grow for a while.. It's interesting how you can create your own little mother nature and alter it to suit your needs. It's common to condense a full year into 3 months via light cycles to get "seasonal veggies" 4 X per year. .. You're off to a great start.. Have fun with it....
@@libertyhomestead I'll be happy to try and answer any questions.. photosynthesis is very simple and easy to understand even if the word seems intimidating..
@@toomanyhobbies2011 It seems like you are not talking about seasonal veggies... I think I may know what you are talking about.. I knew someone a long time ago that mentioned something.. What about the 500 other nicknames used? What about all the very knowledgeable scientist's, chemists, engineers, biologists, horticulturists, arborists, water and electricity procurement specialists. $1K or more per day trimmers making big bucks studying methods to grow this "weed" you speak of.. .. My comment was suggesting that LD not be intimidated by all the info that the research will turn up..
Yes I was watching Liberty baby🎉 seems to be very interested in everything and wants to help mommy do everything but that is quite a nice little setup you got there and you can transplant them into a pot and put a grow light above them in the plastic cones and just stick the cone down into the soil works great🎉 thank you for the video I'll see you on the next one😂🎉
My wife bought into their hype. Only good out of it is convenience of germinating the seeds. She has 2 apple, 2 grapefruit, and 1 lemon tree started and transplanted. She's transplanted a number of different basils also. Tried letting the tomatoes that came with it until fruit. Roots grew so long as to have to be trimmed. Grew higher than the lights.
That's about what I would expect from big, heavy feeders like that. I'm planning to stick to greens, herbs, and maybe try it out for seeds I have had bad luck germinating inside otherwise.
if you're making bone broth, look up the Portable Soup videos that are around. you can take the bone broth, chill it, and separate out the gelatin. dry the gelatin and it makes a soup base that has a REALLY long shelf life. the Townsends channel years back had a story about the Smithsonian having a large amount of tins of portable soup that was made for the Lewis and Clark expedition..1806...and over 180 years later they tried it and it was still good. oh, and you still get the bone broth left when you take some of the gelatin out to make the portable soup...
Liberty, I really like watching your show. Not sure if you have tried it, i just learned how to make butter from heavy cream. Well, the KitchenAide blender did all the work, I just poured it into the bowl and added a tablespoon of salt and let it ride. It takes between 20 min. and 40 minutes, depending on how cold the heavy whipping cream is. warming it up seems to shorten the time. Good show Liberty and kiddo. . . . .
We have a smaller version of one of these for growing basil and oregano and it works very well. Actually, it works almost too good and we have had to look for ways to store the excess that we grow. Maybe this is an idea for next episode?
I found one that doesn't require Bluetooth or wifi and that will be mine to use and get some fresh herbs and a few fresh veggies which I miss very much. I grew up growing my own food when I was young. Best way to get the best out of the veggies:)
This one doesn't require that, but has it as an option. I'm not a huge fan of smart things and try to limit my Bluetooth exposure so I didn't download it.
I had an aero garden years and years ago. They are pretty aswume !! The only downside is that it costs more to keep it going then the harvest is worth. The lights and nutrients cost more than the original purchase. Atleast when I had it. That's why I stoped using it
