Great ideas here, thank you! I did 18oz red cups in 16oz clear cups, so there is a good bottom gap for water. BUT, I like that your method also leaves a gap around the sides, so you don’t have to lift the red cup out to add water! That’s a huge benefit, as watering many double-cups can be quite time consuming!

Soil shouldn’t sit in water. Search double cup method with wicking as this keeps the soil out of the water whilst still delivering needed moisture to the growing plant.

Seen other videos showing this method, going to give it a try using the wicker method in case the water level in the cup gets too low to draw into the upper cup. The paper towel is something I would never have thought of

Don’t need that hole in side there is already a gap between cups

No need for any of those side holes, just put a rock or marbles in the bottom to create the gap for water.

Nice video, but IMHO, your system is too complicated. I agree that the double cup method is superior, but there is no need to use skewers and make all the holes in the side of the cut. Simply use a 16oz cup in a 12oz cup and there will naturally be a void at the bottom of the cup. You will still need to put holes in the bottom of the 16oz cup for drainage as you show. This way the cup the seed is in doesn't sit in water. Have done this for a couple of years and will never use seed trays again. Thanks
