As a retired wheat farmer, I have to say thank you for calling a kernel of grain a "kernel". Trying to combine "berries" wouldn't work too well. I'm not sure who started the berry thing, but I am pretty sure whoever it was has never shoveled out a grain bin on a nice hot day.
