Looks like there is an airflow problem my friend. They are growing long long tails here. Very clean setup btw !

Yea that’s what we thought too but we increased airflow and still long necks.. but now we tried making the cut smaller and it seemed to do the trick! Thanks soon we will have another container so we run two containers!

Very nice presentation thank you! I have a question because I’m considering doing this where I live. You have a harvest of mushrooms out of each bag. Can you get a second harvest out of the same bag? And what is it you have to do to accomplish that? Also I was wondering if once you get established if it’s possible to use the same procedure and method with different types of Mushrooms or do they require a little different environment or procedure? I thank you kindly for any information that you can share to help us thank you

Yes you can harvest two times on each bag. Just harvest once and wait 2-3 weeks for the next harvest :) yes it is possible however different species require different grow medium and climate usually but the process is the same :)

@@verticalgreens I thank you very kindly for your reply and would love to learn more and make sure that I am ready to actually start growing mushrooms. I guess the only concern I would have is if I decide to do it on a small scale I’m wondering if I can’t sell the mushrooms to restaurants or to grocery stores I guess I could always dry them and package them you know like freeze dry? That way I don’t waste anything. From my experience in business before I thought well it was better to have a surplus of product so you know you always have enough for the vendors that might purchase from you And then have a way to still be able to utilize your product by capturing the excess mushrooms in case you can’t get them to your customers before they go bad. Just a thought. Thanks again!

Nice, clean space; check out Southwest Mushrooms RU-vid channel for tips, he has a lot of experience growing oysters, as well as other mushrooms you may be interested in and also offers consultations. Good luck!

Wow, congratulations! Liked and subscribed. I have been thinking about a system just like this for a while now and the youtube channel "Grocycle" suggests that you can use freshly used coffee grounds (within 24 hours) without pasteurizing it. And they also say that you can grow mushrooms using only spent coffee grounds, if you are doing 1 kg or less bags, because more would be too compact and mycelium couldnt overtake the substrate because of that. Did you do any experiments with only coffee as a substrate, or just started mixing with straw? If it is possible to use coffee only, and if it is also really ok to use within 24 hours, making mycelium overtake larger quantities somehow could be very profitable, especially for a small scale farm like this. If you do have any idea or experience on the topic, I would really appreciate the information.

Thanks! We also made tests to see if coffee grounds could be the only medium and so far the mycelium is cultivating great results but I will definitely make a video about this so we can show you the results!

@@verticalgreens Wow, that is great news. Do you sterilize it or use freshly used coffee(within 24 hours) as I said above? And I wonder how many kgs do you use per bag? I will follow the channel for this videos. Best of luck!

@@verticalgreens Hi, any news on the coffee only substrate? Is it taking more time for mycelium to grow or is it similar? And are you keeping the track of yield and the fruiting times?
