Lol I’m working on adding a little more organization as well though I’m also going for a food forest type feel

I saw your pinto video. I was surprised how vining the plants were. We grew pinto beans from actual seed beans and they were bush beans. Actually, very small plants. They were a pain to pick. If I remember correctly, we ended up pulling the whole plant in the green shell stage and pulled the beans off in the shade lol I've planted the tops from different root crops and I got a good bit of seed from them. I didn't get to plant them to see how they did because my freezer where the seeds were stored went out. Everything mildewed and molded😢 I had tons of seed from when I had a farm stand and saved them. Even from my late father in law. Cabbage will grow loose leaves and seed, too. I'm so glad you popped up on my RU-vid feed! I enjoy this kind of thing so much but my family does traditional gardening so I don't have anyone to talk to about it or compare notes with.

Ah yes there is a bush variety and vining variety. I was looking for the bush one before but I like the way the vining one grows! That's unfortunate to hear about the freezer situation...I know that would have gotten to me a bit. When you said your family does traditional gardening did you mean non food plants? I am glad youtube brought you this way though!

@@eatthecanvas By traditional I mean buy packets ( or pounds) of seed and plant in rows. Using a tractor and triple 13 fertilizer. Although I have to say my dad celebrated retirement by rebuilding a 1950 ( his birth year) Bradley crank tractor. I'm not strong enough to start it by the crank but my son and nephew are. That's really cool. But I have to resort to Dad's Mahindra 😂 Dad likes to remind me I put the first scratch on it 😂😂😂

@almostoily7541 haha! Ah alright then understood. I definitely can't hate on the traditional as it produces food when needed lol. I am also just a curious person and want to know what can be done through little experiments which indeed are fun but also filled with learning and having a deeper appreciation for the process of how things grow!

@@eatthecanvas yeah, my dad has a two acre pea field down the road from his house we grow beans, mostly peas, and a few watermelon on. His house garden is the other stuff. We've been growing the potatoes at my sister's, also down my dad's road. My garden is more the experiments and " let's grow something that looks neat but we have no idea if we will like it" garden. I'm able to do that because the traditional garden will feed us if mine is a flop 😂😂😂 I had the greenhouse but, unfortunately, a fire in the adjacent hayfield burned most of it earlier this year. It's good knowing we can share and all have enough. Plus, my nephew sells the extra peas. It's family first, local widows, needy, and friends. Then my nephew sells the rest. It works for us.

@almostoily7541 wow... that's beautiful. I appreciate you sharing all of this. And it's great when you can have the assurance that the needs are taken care of, which gives you the freedom to try new things without feeling like it takes up space

I lost labels, forgot what I planted, and fill in the blank. Just going to have to wait till they mature and fruit.
