Nice update, enjoyed that. Makes me laugh when you start munching things as you walk around - hope you can control yourself when walking down the fruit and veg aisle in the supermarket! 😀 Dixie looks lovely, and all the other trees seem to be doing well, but you'd best get that second polytunnel before you run out of space.

Great video Dan, you covered a lot of interesting material there. We all share the same issues with regard to doing our best in order to succeed. The variety of pomegranate that I bought is 'Mollar de Elche' - I couldn't remember it yesterday. For exotics, I spotted that Miracle Gro now offer a citrus/ Med. compost. I spoke to their customer services and they also suggested that using their cactus compost would also be a good idea, especially given drainage issues, for exotics. These composts are not always held in garden centres and are generally sold in small sizes. We fall short on feeds as most are water based and the plants dislike too much water. This year, I may incorporate lots of pea roots in order to bulk up Nitrate. With regard to Scotland, depending on area, they can have summer daylight hours until really late - a substantial gain on our daylight hours. What they lose on one hand they gain on another. Another idea is to plant more delicate plants at the most northerly point of a garden in order that development is delayed. I only have a short distance between my two pear trees, but a visible difference in bud burst. If frost is a risk, this technique can buy people a couple of weeks, avoiding blossom damage. Thanks Dan, you have a great collection there, can't wait to see that Dixie Red in bloom!

Nice Banana plant all looking good your coffee plant are better than mine . Just a change of conversation what do you think of the Poly tunnel you have as Aldi is selling them cheap would like to buy a bigger one prices are high up here & over the top from yout
@homegardens7682
@homegardens7682 4 года назад
I would advise to get a polytunnel with a hinged door and galvanized frame. They may cost more but long term they will pay for themselves.

The banana wont grow edible fruit, we have these in the south of France and they are massive but no edible fruit they only grow these tiny bananas that you cant eat. But if you prove me wrong I will eat my words!

Hi Dan, just going through some of your older videos. I wondered if you can help me. I bought a lord napier nectarine after watching your videos, looks fairly mature its roughly 1 and a half metre’s. I put it in my greenhouse in a 30 litre pot. It came into leaf with no flowers. Do you think i’ve done something wrong?. Did I make the mistake of a too larger pot first. Can you advise me please. When I purchased it I did ask if the tree would flower and fruit this year specifically, otherwise I would not of purchased it. Hope you can reply, it would be a massive help. I know you are very busy always. Thanks.

Greetings. This can sometimes happen, I may establish this year then put some flowers out next year. A high potassium feed could help, maybe tomato feed.
