The government must have a small but very serious and effective project management team at the presidency to monitor these channels for all the feedback regarding issues in Ghana and work on addressing them. Whether you accept this reality or not, the contributions by diasporans constitute the single most crucial backbone to the socioeconomic vitality and viability of Ghana. Our people are used to the horrifying status quo and the status quo has never worked. Listen to these folks. It is not normal that you can barely accomplish a productive activity in a day due to traffic and the other chaos. A country serious about developing should have a foundation of structure and discipline. There is no way around that.

Our parents left as economic refugees. Now we have the likes of Nana Kwame Bediako and Kojo Jones here as returnees. They show possibilities our parents never saw or can’t conceive. Our parents could have never dreamed up the Ayi Mensah communities or even the Cantoments of today. They could have never imagined the tech companies raising millions of dollars in New York. Think of Bolt. So it’s important we understand their limits and how far their imaginations were. What’s more, to our parents, being a second third class citizen in the west is ok. Even slavery for them was better than their village in Ghana. We’re very different people we should be careful listening to them or we risk creating a Ghana just like the one they run from. The returnees should be more advanced, should have better solutions to issues. The returnees May return with a just a phone in their pocket with a billion dollar idea(tech idea). Let’s not have them tell us what the problems are. We are problem solvers. We work in spaces in the west where we sit at the tables as everyone else. Something our parents could not have imagined. We’re not the same people.

I left Nigeria in 1981 and return for the first time in 2010 after being away continuously in US 25 years. To answer the question why we have negative view of homeland like Ghana or Nigeria. We felt likewe escaped hell. The media did not help matters and family members always encouraged us to stay away. However now at 63 getting ready to retire from work, I literarily have a pull to go home that people do not understand. I have zero interest in living anywhere but Nigeria. At 22 I thought I escaped hell, but at 63 hell is anywhere outside of Nigeria.

I understand you entirely. My mother brought my siblings and me to the US, from Jamaica when I was 12. My siblings and I have always wanted to return but the urge to go back has grown stronger as we have grown older. I am in my early 60's also and feel that the light has dimmed on many western countries and retiring in one of them does not make me feel confident for the future generations that I may leave behind. I really pray and hope fortune will shine on us and that we find the place of our dreams to retire to in the coming years. PS. My older sister even thinks Ghana may be a choice to pursue.

Also, people from the diaspora must also know that Ghanaians are smart and that is why we are able to survive anywhere in this world. When you come to Ghana with your big ideas of moving the country forward, learn from those that are already in Ghana. Adapt and learn and see how you can utilize ideas. Don’t come with the attitude “I know it all”

I was wondering if the high ranking officials like the parliamentarians are watching this because this is the time to tap into the great minds of these young individuals. Our problem has Ghanaians is that we think you can only do well in certain positions if you are old, that’s a cultural thing and they need to move away from it. “Empower the youth”.

Ghana is doing same... and we all have to come together and start doing something now...so we don't regret ourselves.. And that word is something I have been saying for long time... Ghana is on the move...no matter how you think...as Sister Abena again say, over there door is build on one day but in Ghana it will take one month....so it is the matter of time and patient.. We from the Diaspora have to educate our brothers and sisters back home what we learn over there, so they also get the boldness and be on their own and not depending on someone for a living.

You go and fit into somebody's system they built with their blood and sweat. Nation building is sweat and blood and sacrifice and diligence and discipline and honesty. The vast majority of our people won't sign on for that and we're suffering for it. Let's strap our boots up. Everything will work eventually.

The more simplistic you live, the better your experience will be, I’d think. Work your way up, year by year. Be savvy about how you store up emergency 💦 I agree be spiritually prepared. Follow the guidance of the Holy Spirit and Keep God’s Commandments. 🙌🏾😇💕🕊

Chale...I spent my money on rent and finishing my home. That 0 to 100 is REAL. Thank God for that first contract 🙏🏿. 10 months in Ghana, I couldn't be happier, my children are content. I found awesome hiking boots at Kantamato! Another insightful and honest dialog. 👏🏾

Well I think to the opposite is true, I presume you are retired or getting close to retirement and with that study income you can live like a queen in Ghana. Just to let know I'm 50+ living in US and about to start my business in Ghana later part of the year.

Great interview, not sure why RU-vid keeps recommending your channel. What I would say to our Canadian sisters is not to abandon Canada you have all the rights to thrive in both places it is yours for the taking, it's all about having the right attitude and mindset. And don't compomise, mediocrity is mediocrity call it out and demand the best in your space, yes respect the culture but don't lower your standards.

The individual experience that influenced immigration to developed countries forms the ideas that are fed into immigrant kids especially if the developed country created a better lifestyle to the immigrant than what he had previously in his or her home country.

Ghana is always being a better place, if you dwell among the right people. Also saying that, there is a perception that , whenever diasporians trying to set up business in the continent, the tax man throw the book at them, but cut corners if it comes to the home guys, which isn't fair, even buying raw materials and hiring workers for your property, they always charge you double the price , if they found out you live overseas. When is this going to change?
