I got an A on my first big paper of grad school and I had the same reaction as you. WE DID IT!!!!

When you said “anyone in college knows that getting an A on a big paper is a big deal!!” that really touched me. I’m a straight A student in college but I never think I did good enough, and I always feel like I’m not good if i got a 92% on a paper and it wasn’t 100%. I’m not saying this to show off or anything but because genuinely I think I did poorly if I get anything less than like a 98%. Seeing you be proud of yourself and celebrating an A on a paper makes me think maybe I shouldn’t be so hard on myself and be proud of my grades. I’m a nursing major and my science classes are killing me and getting a 90 or something makes me feel like I did bad but now I feel like I should be happy and not be afraid of being proud. Heeeeeeeeeey Conan I don’t usually comment on vids but u said to give u an update so I thought I might as well?? I watched ur art portfolio vid a while back & it inspired me to work even harder on my own art (I’m in year 11 currently so my marks will count towards the universities I can go to), and anyway the whole year was really hard and challenging and my teacher kept giving me marks that I felt didn’t properly reflect the amount of effort i was putting in, so near the end of the year I was thinking of dropping the class to focus on my classes I had better marks in (even though art usually was my favourite subject), but my Mum motivated me to stick through it so I did. Even if I got straight A’s at the exhibition (where we display our work from the entire year, and the majority of our marks come from it) I still wouldn’t have had any chance of getting a really good mark and I had kind of accepted that, But when the teachers from the other schools came to view it they changed my entire internal marks to straight A’s (including all my essays from throughout the year)! I ended up finding out afterwards that the external examiners who mark every artwork voted my art the best in the state (more than 1000 people) and various people messaged me asking to buy them or draw new ones for them?! Needless to say I felt the same way you did in this video when you got the A on your major assignment, and I also ended up getting the highest grade possible all after I seriously considered dropping the class because of how stressed it made me. I only just found most of this out this week, as I live in Australia and just finished the entire year of school :) watching your art videos seriously motivated me to work harder and strive for better things and if you’re somehow reading this and are interested in seeing what my art looks like it’s on my Instagram @_neddd, not the best pics but you’ll get the idea 🧡

I'm honestly terrified? As a junior in Highschool, and just finishing the first semester, time feels like it's passing me by too quickly. I'm scared of the mere thought of college, because I have no idea what I want to do, how I'm gonna pay for it, etc. There's so many things I don't understand about living by myself like paying bills, insurance, how college works. Just... AAAHHH. Too much.

I‘m sick and lying in bed with a fever and I‘m so bummed about it because it‘s so close to Christmas, but the notification for this video cheered me up a little ✨

I feel the exact same way! I was so serious and closed off when I was younger due to family issues and bullying due to my weight and familys financial issues. I dealt with social anxiety, depression and disordered eating up until around 15 years old. Then lost someone very close to me at aroundd 16/17 years old and had to help my mom financially support my brother and I from 18 to 20ish (basically half my crappy pay check went to bills, some months I had to cover whole rent and/or bills). At the time I felt resentful because all my friends got to work and save all their money or travel.. they didn't have to give any of it to their parents while I could hardly save anything and didn't get the same luxuries as others. It was stressful and dark and my anxiety sky rocketed. But I'm 21.. almost 22 years old and I feel like although I've been through a lot.. the last couple years I've learned to live. I'm not as closed off and serious and I'm allowing myself to be silly and vulnerable. It's terrifying at times but I also feel like I'm making up for the 20 years I deprived myself of happiness and youth. I've also learned to accept the way things are and feel proud that I do things that most people my age don't.

being 19 last year was quite possibly the GREATEST year of my life!!! i loved it so much and became friends with so many cool and amazing people. i miss it so much 😭 now i’m 20 and so far being 20 has been the complete opposite. how strange life is like that sometimes

Dear Conan, My life is going pretty well. I do online school in Costa Rica, so I've been jumping over a few hurdles when it comes to learning how to manage myself and prioritizing my time without having to work for 14 hours a day. My song writing abiities are coming in strong and I am having so much fun fooling around on Garage Band with songs that I've written on my ukulele or piano(I also started a youtube channel where I sing covers and my own songs because you inspired me). Your videos always ground me in a way I can't explain. To see someone that is so different from me but also going through the same struggles is really cool because it shows me that I am not alone. I dropped out of my school and i just feel very much like a failure. Idk, my mental health has just been all over the place, and i’ve been diagnosed with 3 conditions in the course of 4 months and i just feel like a mess most of the time. But i’ve started therapy and I’m currently working on not hating myself, and that’s going pretty well. Yeah idk, i really hope that next year will be better, and I’m tryna have faith. "Highest high and lowest low" is the also best description for my 2017. Last year I fell in depression when studying abroad, but also traveled and enjoyed a lot. I hope in 2018 when I go to read my grad school in another country I will be stronger. And your growing in reverse story really really touched me. I grew up without dad so I felt like I matured at 5 with all the life pressure on my mom and me. But now I'm like more childish cz my life is sooo much better. Thanks Conan.

I relate to the whole growing up thing! I skipped one grade, which caused me to go to (dutch) highschool where most of my classmates were already thirteen. I was a bit of a weird, energetic and of course very young kid, so that made me great bullying material! I suddenly became very quiet and starter to ridiculously focus on getting good grades, trying not to be seen, to be normal because i thought back then that would help. Of course, it didnt and i became one big ball of stress and fear. Luckily im in a better place now, and i feel like i have grown out of that phase, though i know it has (partially) shaped me: i am a bit uncomfortable around strangers at first, but it brought me some good things too: things people say to me have less impact on me, i made wonderful friends and i'm now the slightly crazy person i once was again, but better: im embracing my uniqueness and who i am and i would never want to be part of that shitty normal asshead community ever again (but hey whatever floats your boat) This was just something i felt like sharing, i hope you all have a great day, feel free to share things in the comments ok lol bye™

I’m going to finish my first year in this new school I changed into last year, and it has honestly felt like 20 years. I moved from South America to Japan and had to go to a public Japanese school. It has been very hard but I finally finished 2017 and although I didn’t do as well as I would have hoped, I got through it and I feel happy about it. Love you videos Conan! I literally free an hour in my day when you post a new video. I make some tea, get my art supplies and listen to you and it’s probably one of the best ways to just relax and be happier. Thank you!!!

I just turned 19 too and finished my first year of university (yay Australian academic year)!!!!! It's definitely been one of the most challenging and intimidating years of my life but I'm so glad I stepped out of my comfort zone and was able to make new friends and pursue what I love!! I also 100% agree with the getting an A on a paper, I nearly cried with happiness from just passing one of my units!! Well this past week i really delved more into your channel, thanks to seeing you on CatCreature RU-vid video, and also this past week I've been changing a lot. I finally set in a school and exercise routine (I'm homeschooled) And have been more proactive lately. I draw and do art alot, but now I also have stretched into the realm of photography and sharing what I consider to be my perspective on the world. And it truly has become such a freeing outlet for me. Like I'm finally becoming ME and not somebody that you just pass by on the street. Finding your videos has also really helped me during this process of change, by hearing your advice and your outlook on life has really inspired and effected mine in a positive way. I can relate to the aging in reverse. When you're forced to grow up too quickly as you get older number wise your spirit gets younger and you tend to behave like a kid and that's perfectly alright.
