My experience growing up Pentecostal wasn’t this extreme it was wise and understanding, it’s a beautiful thing to feel the presence of the Holy Spirit. we were never told not to do small things like not wear jewelry or any of those insignificant things, because god gave us free will and without trials and tribulations we will not get the revelations necessary for salvation.
That is religion, not of God, Emmanuel, Jesus' Holy Spirit... 1 Timothy 2:9 is the verse many take to extremes. Too many people wear every jewel they can find or none at all (that is cancelled extremist.) Personally I know skirts make women easier targets for sexual assault than a pair of women's pants... Not a man's pants 🤦♀️🤷♀️ As a 7yo child I was denied from singing in the choir unless I wore some skirt, and the leading "Shepard" or preacher... failed to even give an explanation to help guide me as a real Shepard should. It's about a relationship not some man-made religion, so please help #educate everyone you come across 🙏 It is our responsibility to share the Gospel ✝️
@@OctaviaBoesWifey- aww yes! The great wedding ring debate between certain Pastors. Lol. God gave me this revelation: What I learned is: even though the Pastor has authority to set standards, know and receive between yourself and Jesus Christ because not everything that Brothers, Sisters, and even Pastors make into a salvation issue, is actually a salvation issue. God is going to judge those "other" Pentecostals, even the ones from Bro. So and so's church. Jesus still ordained Bro. So and So to be the shepard over you, and even that Pastor will face God for leading you correctly or not leading you correctly. It's your responsibility and fault to know God enough to stay with the wedding ring Pastor or not.
@@jessemayanna- in the book of Deuteronomy in the Bible, it explains that pants actually do pertain to a man and that women shouldn't wear them. When you seek God enough to understand *HIS* perspective, then you will truly be liberated and you won't think that Pentecostals are being unbiblical. Are you really, actually, arguing say that Pentecostals are obeying the Bible _too_ much? Seriously?? Look, no one is going to get denied Heaven because they took the Bible too literal, _HOWEVER_ a person can get denied Heaven because they did *not* take the Bible literal enough.
@@OctaviaBoesWifey- I just came across this channel right now and this is the first video I seen. I see you're wearing nail polish. Is that just for the sake of this video or do you normally wear it? Some people think that we're hypocritical because we seem to pick when we obey standards and when not to, like the also, the wedding 💍 debate.
On point! Growing up Pentecostal was tough but I’m glad my parents trained me up knowing about the Lord. I’m not Pentecostal today but I still love Jesus❤ I had to unlearn a few things about the Pentecostal faith and grow a relationship with him myself.

Ok I can’t stop laughing at how TRUE and RELATABLE this is! I’m an 14 y.o apostolic young lady, and I do believe my momma knew what she was talking about when it did come to inner beauty. I am proud to live these standards, and im not ashamed of the gospel. I was raised in the truth, so I will live the truth, so I can spread the truth!
Inner beauty means everything no doubt, so please just learn & listen for God's voice while praying for wisdom to discern between living like Jesus versus living under false prophecy of a man-made religion ✝️☀️🕊️🧭🛐 relation>religion is why Jesus came and was crucified to resurrect returning to Heaven just as He came through a pure #miracle from God #Yahweh
@danielandmelly We also have to discern who is really with God and who will lead us astray. The only way to do that is to judge their fruits. If they're from the Holy Spirit or from the enemy. That's a part of preparing for his coming.
When I grew up Pentecostal, you couldn't do anything. We were always in church. All the other kids went to parties, movies, etc... Even when I strayed away as I got older, I always new I was different. And really never left my church roots.

Parents should be learned and know why they believe what they do and not just go by what someone else says. Children should be trained in what’s right and why but, parents should pray that their children give their hearts to Jesus as soon as they reach the age of accountability and the Lord will deal with their heart. When is as parents obey God as a choice then children will follow. If things are not in the parents heart and they are just doing things because they want people to think good of them then the children will see right through the parents outside.Pentecostal holiness isn’t just some I do because the Bible says but, it’s something that’s in my heart.
@@donnavoltz9835 well that's good but it's not and everybody's heart and in America at least in the 80s and 90s and the early 2000s is pretty much kept in the walls the gospel has to come out in the streets Jesus didn't go in a building all the time which in that day was a synagogue he came out on the streets and healed the sick raise the dead and even fed 5000 would two fishes and Five Loaves and that's the kind of power eventually he expects us to have and to get out here and Reach people
What’s crazy is how nobody has a problem wearing dresses and suits when it comes to court our wearing certain items in “ special events” but when it comes to scripture and how we’re supposed to present ourselves that’s when people start having problems. People really don’t like being told what do or dress 😂it all makes sense
I feel this. Our family would get bad looks because of the way my parents “dressed” us. I’m thankful for the perspective of modesty that the Pentecostal church gave me but the judgement in the church is absolutely present.
@OctaviaBoesWifey they were part of the church. As Jesus said in Matthew 16:19. The apostoles wrote the Bible and were the pillars of the church. Obviously the church came first
My pentecostal apostolic church allows jewelry and trousers. But modestly. The bible said we shud work on our character d same way we worj on our outer beauty.
Well trousers we not really a gender thing, it was a sport thing, made to ride horses in the army and things like that. The American church has no idea about that. That’s why they teach what they do.
Keep this in Mind, His Church the one* He established=is 1,900+ (2,000) years old. It wasn't founded_ in the 1800's or early 1900's Lol' 🔥🤭 it's not 450 or- 500 year's old. 😢 That's all New* Man-made heretical' sectarian nonsense.
Also it’s a matter of the heart. God has to give you the understanding of modesty(on the inside and outside) and holiness. People can’t just tell you what to do because that will lead to rebellion.
Apostolic Pentecostals believe you shouldn’t wear jewelry you need to receive the Holy Spirit so you can get the full revelation why you shouldn’t wear jewelry, l see what ever you idol in your walk with God and let go can be jewelry, drinking, drugs …etc , your Heavenly Father will replace it something much better in your life, you can’t do it on your own the Holy Spirit helps you to give up the old self and
Yes the Holy Spirit does lead us. But the Bible doesn’t say you can’t wear jewelry. And like you said anything can be a god to someone. For my mom God told her to stop wearing pants and to get out of a theater, but I know a lot of women who wear pants and go to the movies and live God. Maybe it was her weakness. That being said, there are still some things that are biblical wrong. Like getting drunk, adultery, and things like that.
I'm penacastul but I wear necklaces and earrings, maybe rings but I usually lose them after wearing them I day, I have a pop it bracelet I wear for my anxiety and a Christian bracelet, the necklace I wear says "I ❤️ Jesus" so I think its okay unless you're doing it for the fact of people being jealous because you're wearing expensive jewelry, but everyone has their different convictions
@@Becky-ue3gv Or you have just been conditioned to feel guilty for nearly everything by judgmental attitudes and fear mongering that even completely harmless, trivial things may secretly be "sins"
There’s a difference between the Pentecostalism of the South versus the Pentecostalism of the West coast. In the South, Christianity in general is more cultural, and Pentecostalism tends to go a little more cray cray back there. Out here, the approach is nowhere near as legalistic - at least not in most Pentecostal churches.
@@susiecarr2099 some do and some don’t. I wouldn’t be surprised if many are starting to at least wear wedding rings now, they seem to be changing their rules for some reason. Seems odd to me.
as a pentecostal myself, i think you should only follow the rules if you feel convicted to. luckily my parents taught me that also. i choose to dress and act the way i do. i’m sorry this was misrepresented to you
That’s sad, I’ve never met one that wanted money personally, but I also didn’t get into any financial stuff with anyone. I know some are good hearted and help the poor. I just think their rules are funny sometimes.
They talk about holding up a standard of holiness. However, that's a service issue. Salvation is absolutely free and not conditional upon service to God. Jesus is Lord God Almighty clothed in unsinful humanity and He is the author of *eternal life* to all who trust Him alone for salvation. Yes, the only life Jesus offers is everlasting life, not to be confused with temporary or probationary life dependant upon your performance. Jesus paid for all the sins of all the world at the cross (past, present, and future). That payment is put to your account when you have believed on Christ alone for salvation. *This means that saving repentance is realizing that you are a sinner deserving of God's just punishment in Hell and turn (repent) from whatever you trusted in before, if indeed you trusted in anything; to trusting in the person and finished work of Christ alone for salvation.*
As a Korean american raised in baptist and presbyterian like most of us are, we get the strictness but ours comes a lot from our culture to begin with. Not easy growing up east asian but man does it pay off when we get older and realize how messes up everyone else is and have become because of the lack of discipline and suffering. I dont like the pettiness of pentecostals though. But im not naive, i know they all meant well and did the best they knew how to while raising theyre children in this evil and demonic world. As kids because we didnt get it we rebelled. Then we went through life and got hit with the reality if real evil and crawled back to Jesus. Well at least the smart ones did while repenting. Im not Pentecostal nor do i agree with a lot of theyre practices but I’m not against them either. Its just their own unique culture. God bless them and they’re church. Jesus is Lord.
@@belikebereansministries4659 you better be very careful speaking against the United Pentecostal Church two men were struck dead by lightning in the parking lot for speaking against UPC preachers be very careful
@@OctaviaBoesWifey hahaha that's good you could find someone in the church you grew up in. And those sister churches do have some heathens up in them lol
Strict isn't the problem, legalism is. Bible commands modesty, not ties, beard/no beard, etc. Jewelry is ok, showing off wealth is not. Silver necklace with cross is fine, 5.000$ jewelry is showing off
You can’t go around asking ppl how much did their jewelry cost. Most ppl who wear the gaudiest jewelry bought it for cheap although it looks expensive and raises the question of modesty. An easier way to fulfill modesty in jewelry is not to be concerned about the price or flashiness but to forsake all jewelry since the Bible specifically prohibits “gold and pearls” from being worn at all. Not to say it’s a sin to wear a small cross or a few rings but you should wear the jewelry you want or none at all.
It sounds like so many people have had bad experiences with apostolic PEOPLE and not the apostolic religion. No matter what church you go to someone will always criticize you or tell you things without explaining them or even being hateful(but that’s not the whole church’s fault). I go to a UPCI church and they don’t judge and if they give me a standard to follow they always give me evidence in the Bible.
I'm Pentecostal, but i don't agree with all the teachings of the Pentecostal churches. The Bible doesn't teach complete from jewelry makeup or even alcohol. It teaches moderation. The Bible tells us to seek out our own salvation with fear and trembling. Not all people have the same convictions.
Well it does say do not get drunk, but other than that, I don't believer there is anything. I know there was wine in the Bible. I don't drink anyway so I don't worry about it too much. lol
Nope they don’t let you. But I understand that. And I love my long hair. I did cut it once bc I stupidly got three perms in one year and had bad split ends. But apparently you can get rid of split ends naturally, but I don’t know how and didn’t at the time.
@@OctaviaBoesWifey I never had split ends in my life I don’t know how tho guess I got luck but when I get my hair long it gets in my food and always in my face
Not true. The Bible is literal and easy to understand but there are some parables which are obvious to teach and there is some symbolisim but all of the Bible is to be used for instruction in some way and unless its an obvious story inside the Bible then its liter real world instructions. If you read in full context and don't take one or two verses out then its pretty clear. Also we must pray for guidance when reading to understand.
@@TheMariemarie16 So, you believe the two creation stories in Genesis are literal events? AND You follow the Roman Catholic understanding of the eucharist that it is literally the physical body and blood of Christ?
@@takforce06 I am not Roman Catholic and I don't follow any books that are not in the Bible. I might read some other materials for interest or understanding but the ultimate authority is the Bible only because I know that it is the inspired Word of God. I don't follow cultural things or religious doctrine only what is in the Bible. I attend church and of course every worship place has culture but internally I understand the difference between culture and The Word of God which is the only thing which is timeless and trustworthy. When we partake in the blood and body of Christ this is a double meaning. Spiritually it is accepted by God and the blood of Christ. It is his sacrifice, we are to Revere the act same as if we are physically accepting his blood. Understanding the Bible literally does not mean that parables and symbols do not exist within the Bible. I said this in my very first comment. When I take the Lord's Supper I do accept it as the blood and body of Christ which is what the Bible says. It does not and did not ever mean that we will be drinking human blood.
It’s a joke and no one is bribing anyone. In the church they would say no jewelry, but some churches under the same religion say it’s ok to wear jewelry.
This is not the norm in most pentecostal churches. I was Assemblies of God for most of my life and women wore jewelry and short hair. Wearing jewelry has nothing to do with being holy.
Pretty sure The Almighty Creator YAHUWAH YAHWEH would of rather had the children of Israel wear their jewelry of gold instead of creating a golden molten calf with it 😂
Oh my Lord. That’s not even in there!!!! Adorn with outward joy. Please. It says to be modest. And not wear gold or parks or costly array. How bout them Michal lord shoes🙄. Some are hypocritical about it.

Not sure what you mean by this. I was just posting about stuff I felt with growing up. Ans how silly some of the ideas are that are not always backed by the Bible.
Well most of the standards that are not biblical based are really " gray" areas. What that means is that even tho the bible doesn't say thou shalt not wear jewelry it is up to your pastor to draw the line for standards. Really it is to keep you safe. God told Moses to draw the line for where the mountain was to begin. And the people were not supposed to cross that line. In the same way God placed pastors in our lives to make our boundaries. And even though it might not send you to hell for wearing a ring. Disobeying your pastor will. If you want to be rebellious against your authority no one can stop you but if you have a drive for the will of God you will look past the standards and focus on what is to come. I would really recommend a bible study if you are interested
Disobeying your pastor will not send you to hell. He is a person. And the UPC church does steer people wrong in many things. I understand grey areas, don't get me wrong, but some are over the top and way off of biblical standards. Some pastors do not look at history before preaching things, they take what thier father or pastor told them growing up.@@LilyDeaton-mi2kr
