You're an angel. My interviewer literally told me that amongst 7 other candidates my insights on growth product management were the most unique. Needless to say I was offered a job and have accepted it. Thank you so much!

This is great! Can you share some info on the type of growth you’ve seen based on some real life examples and a/b tests you’ve run. Also share some of your tools you can’t live without as a GrowthPM?
@productchat2233
@productchat2233 2 года назад
Some examples for AB tests - (1) testing simple sign up vs. more sign up methods such as 'sign up with facebook, sign up with google, sign up with email, sign up with xyz" ---> the option that looks complex and messy with multiple buttons actually increases sign ups (in contrast to other types of flows which usually benefit from only 1 button, (2) adding a "we can remind you right before your trial ends" and seeing impact on trial sign ups, trial cancellation, and ultimate retention -----> this increases trial cancellations, but it increases sign ups so much that the net registrations increase; (3) Apple In App Purchase (1-click checkout with a 30% fee to Apple) vs. a longer checkout flow (no fee, 30% more revenue) ----> when calculating registration growth rates vs. net profit, paying a fee to Apple is worth it

Incredible video. Thank you. Can you please also provide content on other types of PMs such as what does it mean to focus on Activation, Creation tools, Payments PM, etc.
@ZenityStudios
@ZenityStudios 2 года назад
Hi, some of those titles sound like they could be industry/company specific PM roles. Activation PM sounds like it might be another name for growth PM. Creation tools sounds like that’s a product suite of a company in which the PM is responsible for. Payments PM sound like a PM that works on the payments or fintech operations/product.

This was an awesome overview. Question - since there might be a lot of overlap between a growth and core PM, are there separate metrics for the 2 roles? i.e., how can we tell if a particular metric resides with the growth vs core PM. Especially for those times when there are distinct growth and core PM roles in the org.
@productchat2233
@productchat2233 2 года назад
Glad it was helpful! It is HIGHLY situation specific, but typically a Growth PM might own metrics related to user acquisition, such as "number of users" "number of sign ups" "set-up success rate" "referrals per user" "usage in the first 30 days"; On the other hand, a core PM might own metrics related to engagement and retention or related to a specific part of the experience, eg. "active days per month", "average usage minutes per user", "retention rate", "engagement with feature X", etc.

I'd like to ask your opinion on my current position. As a product manager in charge of discovering new expansions (verticals), i am mostly collaborating with BDR, Data Science, and UX. Any correlations with growth product management? From what I can see growth product management is mostly for growing an existing product offering, not expanding the product offering to include/acquire additional products and thus expand (rather than grow). Is there any officially recognized title for my position?

Great Content, very enlightening stuff. The way you structured the content is very professional, In the last couple of days, I have been watching videos relating to this role, would you be kind enough to do a video on interview questions for this role. Also about technical stuff for this role like data analysis and SQL , onboarding apps etc. I know you mentioned you have a data scientist on your team but for those of us requiring these skills for the role can you do another video. Great content, 5 star. A couple of feedback (not really about the content) you didn't mention your name in the intro or how we can connect outside the video like Linkedin, IG, or Twitter. Would be nice.

@brottochstraff
@brottochstraff 3 года назад
@@productchat2233 Tank you for answering! My thoughts mostly align with what you are saying which is comforting. My main objective for the transition is to be in a more strategical position where I can be part of defining the why and be closer to the core business, rather then having a project handed to me as it happens today. without much say if i believe in the project or not. I also want to be followed up by our core business KPI:s rather than the projects KPI's. To have more clarity in regards to the impact I'm supposed to make towards the long term goals of the company. I love project management, but after many years one of the needs I have is to be more connected to the core business, but still be part of the creative process and close to the customers.
