Grozovoi In 2023 - How Do You Play This Thing Again?

Farming snowflakes I ended up taking the Grozovoi out for a spin. Ended up being a long close game, and even despite the inclusion of a Carrier it was quite fun.

Flamu, did you see the new CV, Submarine change proposal just posted on the official website few mins ago? It's crazy, they are finally changing spotting mechanism of the CV for NA/Euro server as well and their version of the change is very different from the one for the RU

I looked and it is dumb. Instead of just doing what the russian sever already did...remove planes ability to spot...we will have some new mechanics that will not work and maybe a year from now they will copy what the russian server is already doing and which has already been shown to work to address the issues raised. Why is wh incapable of listening...they keep insisting on telling players how to enjoy the game instead of just listening to what we tell them we need so that we can enjoy it. So frustrating.

@robo2729 I initially thought it's too gimmicky and counter-intuitive too. It seemed RU server solution was better. But after giving a second thought, I actually really like the deeper depth NA/EU solution provides between surface vs planes in terms of game play interaction between them. RU server solution is simpler, more direct approach of nerfing plane spotting but it does not promote any deeper strategic plays. Plus, just simply cutting out the plane's ability to spot for the team would completely eliminates the team play aspects. This solution will definitely weaken the CV's ability to lit up all enemies instantly by simply flying over the maps in seconds but still keep some of the team play interaction and also add more depth to surface vs plane battles

Grozovoi was my ugly little duckling back when i used to play this game (2020 and previous). Always had a special place in my heart. Flamu has some balls not running superintendent. Couldnt be me.

I loved the thing, was pretty good in it too, pre cv rework that is, was in the top 5 by both dmg and pr on eu, fun times. The AA having been made useless and the skill rework really killed this ship.

@@AddumEnied Man i hate to hear that. Been almost 4 years since i played this game. Flamu and jingles keep me in the loop. Maybe one day they will get their head out of their rear snd fix the game. Not holding my breath anymore, died too many times doing that.

I still love grozi, it's a good dmg farmer. I feel that SI is mandatory, it can open water farm from range very well and still knife fight other DD's in close making use of that heal. AFT and brawler for me. You can say AR is a must but you have to give up something in this boat much more than a lot of DD's to adapt it to your playstyle. I feel the range is a must and it allows you to counter the secondary BB's and hit the radar cruisers at range.

I'm not criticizing Flamu's skill. But imagine how much different this game would have been if their CV had spotted him coming out of his smoke in the B cap or again when he was trying to cap A. He was facing 3-4 on 1 odds as his team was not helping at all. But their CV was so busy trying to help their Black take C that he LET Flamu take 2 caps. That's pretty much the way my DD games go. If their CV ignores me then I have a decent game. If he focuses me there is little that can be done. Noticed in THIS game Flamu had zero plane dmg until 5:20 left. And he is sunk by the 3:00 mark. 2 min 20 sec from the time the CV focused him until he was sunk. There is an old Shima game where Flaumu had 245k dmg and zero plane dmg. But from the time he was first spotted it took the enemy less than 2 mins to sink him. CV games are hit and miss for DDs. If they decide to focus you there is little you can do to have a good game.

@@volknetai.3690 Ragnar has 4.5km aa range and zero flak (only continous). Evem though the pure numbers seem high, that isnt exactly good and you feel it the moment you are targeted by a cv who knows that.

Grozi was always an odd one for me. I loved the Udaloi which is in my top two ships but Groz always felt too sluggish and big for me to utilize it the way I did Udaloi. The DPM and health increase was never enough of a sell for me and I'd rather bring an Udaloi into my TX matches than the Groz. I really wanted to like it, it's a damn good looking ship but it never clicked with me. Cool to see some DD gameplay, especially a ship you don't see very often.

The Udaloi is the odd one. The entire split is predicated on being hybrid DDs barring the noodle, but for some reason people want to play the Grozzo as a worse Khaba. They even gave it 12km torps to tell you "Hey, this ship isnt just about spamming he from 14km!"

I feel like Groz has an identity crisis in the 2023 WoWs. It feels wonky as a hybrid, but it's also underwhelming as a gunboat.

its a monster gun boat. Not taking SI is a greedy choice in the end, opting out of the extra heal and smoke which is what sets you apart from a lot of the gun based DD's.

I had teammates like Iwami all the time. I think all the old player are leaving and new ones are straight getting in Tier 10 matches. I'm glad I'm a F2P so I grinded my way to Tier 10 matches 😅

it was an interesting choice to challenge 2 dds + 1 cl in the corner. if they had had any clue how to play this game, u would have been insta dead. nice gameplay anyway! gl!

16:50 Pretty ironic that this Iwami's nickname was "Teach (me) how to play" and he completely ignored Flamu's advice and basically snatched the defeat from the jaws of victory. Guess not many people on Lesta server know English, but that was an actual good chance for this player to learn something, and they totally missed it. Still, good game!
