Thank you for your great video. What is relevant for deciding which method ANOVA vs. X bar & R in minitab to choose? Or is it all the same which method you choose! I can't go wrong?
@learnandapply

Thank you so much for your valuable comments! ANOVA method is more accurate than the Xbar-R method due to the additional element of Operator by part interaction.

Thnak you for the vidio. Which MSA should I use if the measuring in process? That means there are not 2 or 3 operators, just one mesuring device and 10 parts to be measure 2 or 3 times.
@learnandapply
@learnandapply 2 года назад
Thank you for your valuable comments and appreciation 🙏☺ Still, you have to use the Gage R&R study crossed. Although the reproducibility part is not there, you are measuring 10 different parts. If there is only one part with one operator, then you can go for a Type-1 gage study.

Thank you for the informations. I have a question, if we do not know the "upper spec-Lower spec" for these samples , (if there is no standards,or customer spects) How should we do? Do we calculate the tolerances and enter the these calculated tolerances ourselves?
@learnandapply
@learnandapply Год назад
That's a practical question. In this situation, you can either use the tolerances specified by your internal team, design team, or product development team.

I understand that if P values for operators and for parts are 0 in this example we accept the null Hypothesis. Which means we need to evaluate ore Measurement System. Did understand correctly?
@learnandapply
@learnandapply 4 года назад
If p values are less than the significance level (generally 0.05 for 95% confidence interval), we reject the null hypothesis. And we need to evaluate our measurement system.

If NDC is = 4 or greater, should that be ok too? Not sure why you jumped from 3 to 5 being acceptable.
@learnandapply
@learnandapply Год назад
Higher the NDC, greater will be the capability of your measurement system to detect smaller differences. Yes, you can say 4 is good. NDC indicates the capability of your measurement system to divide the total observations into number of group based on their similarities. AIAG indicate it must be 5 or more, but depending on criticality of your measurements, you can select the most appropriate one.

Hi Sir, Good Morning I have done the GR&R study at my tester ,but i always getting %Study Var value are more than 30% but The %tolerance is acceptable. Also NDC always getting 1 only may i know what is the actual causing i fail the study . Kindly advice..

Thank you for your valuable comments. Good morning. As you are getting NDC as 1, you need to change the measuring device to more precise one. Currently, your measurement device is not able to separate the parts.

What is the difference between %Contribution and %study variation ??? Both are telling us the amount of variation that can attribute to the factors? is that correct ??
@learnandapply
@learnandapply 2 года назад
Yes, but the contribution method talks about the % contribution of GRR in total variation, whereas in % Study variation 6*std dev to see the % of GRR in total variation.
@azb0017
@azb0017 2 года назад
@@learnandapply Why would we need to do this ?? 6*SD ...why are we doing that ? isn't % contribution good enough ??
@learnandapply
@learnandapply 2 года назад
The purpose is different. The % contribution is used to assess the variation for each source of measurement error. Whereas, if you use the measurement system to evaluate process improvements, such as reducing part-to-part variation, %Study Var is a better estimate of measurement precision. If you want to evaluate the capability of the measurement system to evaluate parts compared to specification, %Tolerance is the appropriate metric.

Where does Process tolerance =8 come from? I think you just copied the value that Minitab uses on their website. Can you please elaborate more on the process tolerance number used with an example? Thank you
@learnandapply
@learnandapply Год назад
Hi Prashan, Thank you for your valuable comments. This process tolerance value is from the previous example that we have continued in this exercise. Yes, this example is from Minitab, so you can say that. The process tolerance value is the standard by which the capability of your process is determined. It is generally a 6*standard deviation in your process. Please reply to me if need further clarification.
@44444cesc
@44444cesc Год назад
@@learnandapply : Yes I would like further clarification since your video does not explain that number and just copied what Minitab website had. I don't think you can calculate process tolerance using standard deviation. Process tolerance value comes from the drawing requirement as desired by the customer. Is the the specification range.
@learnandapply
@learnandapply Год назад
I am not sure whether you read my earlier comment. It's from the previous example. If you calculate the standard deviation and multiply it by 6, you will get the process tolerance. Here, why 6 - because we are targeting Cp as 2. If you want to target Cp as 1.67, you can also consider process tolerance as a 5*standard deviation. You can also keep that blank if you have concerns about where it came from, or calculate process tolerance for the data using a formula. It's alright.
