Dee burleson is my uncle and is mos def not a sell out. yes my family is predominately black ,... But our ancestry is mestizo. As a family we are so proud of my uncle and his accomplishments.
I saw this clip when I was 12 years old when I walked into my parents room and saw them watching this. This led me to my career in music which includes a master's degree in music, and numerous conducting and performance opportunities all over the world. Raul
Culturas had everything. They had the musicianship and showmanship; the moves and choreography; a beautiful latina lead singer; they had the cross-cultural thing, a black lead singer from a funk and R&B background who could sing and speak spanish fluently;they had a white-american sax player who could grito with the best. It should not have been this way. In a perfect world, Culturas would have been mega-stars and should have gone a lot further.
Dios apenas voy viendo esta publicación de hace 14 años , y lo retro es lo mejor y más si es texano 👍🎤😍❤️🤩 que excelentes años de buena música como me gusta este grupo, que viva lo tejano
One of tejano music's best duos along with Emilio y Raúl of Grupo Río, Pete E. y Rudy of La Fiebre, Selena y Pete A. of Los Dinos, Tony y Gavino of La Sombra, and Joe y Jimmy of Mazz. These were the days.
My mon went to this award show. I helped her sew the beads and glue rhinestones to her dress😁 I do remember her talking about this performance the next day. She told me that she was singing along to Basame. It was one of her favorites 💖
Saludos...
@grnmtns1 haha thanks. my lil sis told me the joke and i liked it ever since. i've heard of all the ones you mentioned except for los chicanos and rodolfo aicardi. the rest do have good music. i used to listen to them when i was younger b/c my pops would play those songs. so British and listening to Tejano -interesting :)
Obviously XXXXLowriderXXXX has no inkling of GOOD MUSIC. Dee and his music roots go way back and crosses over many music genres. Deee, I remember the Hit "Your Brown Eyes wwhen you were with La Franz in San Antonio. I was A roady for Direct Drive Band. I AM VERY PROAD TO HAVE KNOWN AND WORKED WITH YOU IN THE PAST.
Anyone know whatever happen to this group? Do they still perform? Last time I saw this group in person was back in Dallas Texas 1992. Awesome group personally got the opportunity to speak one on one with both very nice performers.
@Bcuz789Duh Like your user name! I got started listening to Mazz, with Joe Lopez, but I don't worry my pretty little British head about what's Tejano and what's not. Lots of great Spanish music out there. Try Los Acosta, Rehenes, oldies Los Angeles Negros, Los Chicanos, Rodolfo Aicardi, Los Terricolas...the good ones don't have to act wild to cover up their lack of talent.
