Some of my most cherished childhood memories have Mazz somewhere in the story. Later in life, I became a professional Tejano dancer and followed Mazz, DLG, Despoz and a few other bands around Texas, and some outside of Texas. I'll never forget being young and spinning all over dance floors like Club Rio in Austin, Tejano Texas in SA, Hallaballoos in Houston, Tejano West in Dallas, and Casa Blanca in Laredo. I know there are older generations with memories of other great artists but this was my generation and I was born in the 70's. Bless you all ý que viva Tejano!
I remember seeing my Mom and Dad dance to these songs all night at get togethers any time a Mazz song came on dad knew to get up and take my mom to the dance floor . Im so blessed to have them both still in my life they are still together my dad can't move around like he would on that dance floor but shit don't piss him off cuz he sure will try lol. Im so glad I have nothing but good memories of mt folks I wish I would have found a lady who put up with my bullshit like my mom did my dad for years lol but all I got is a baby momma and two beautiful kids from her .. who knows maybe she will forgive me one day ...

When Jay Peres recorded , " calla" it really pissed me off that is Joe's song and until hes no longer among us no one should sing his song , now that's just my opinion !

One of the greatest Tejano bands who came together in the mid to late 1970's. I was a young chicano at the time in highschool about to go into the marines. Of course Little Joe y la Familia was also hot at the time. And when I heard MAZZ, back then, I was enthused by the sounds and how it nourished my body and soul. MAZZ went on to produce hundreds of awesome songs. Joe Lopez still performs out here in South Texas.
I remember being handed an album in 1978 and the photo at 1:21 looks like it was the back cover and in the front it just said MAZZ, in black letters. My brother was a DJ and he tells me, hey these guys are pretty good. The rest is history; KFRD 980 am, Rosenberg-Richmond.
On our way to Brownsville from Virginia, we stopped at my aunts in Houston and she gave my mom and dad a Mazz 8 track tape. My mom grew up with Joe and his brothers in Brownsville. My dad was also from Brownsville . I remember all the barbecues, weddings and around good vibe in Brownsville in the early 80s. Going over to Matamoros was a blast and there were good tacos everywhere and panaderias and raspas . I had grown up in Spain speaking Spanish Spanish so Brownsville was super interesting to me for lots of reasons.
Valle Hermoso, Tamaulipas, Mexico ... & Anahuac, Tamaulipas, Mexico.... Just a few miles ( 10 ) from Control, Tamaulipas, Mexico.... Grandparents of Joe ... We ( my spouse ) will be attending his next concert, hopefully on the R.G.V. or "La Arena Monterrey". We were listening non stop his music, "cassettes, CD, now media".... Thanks, Joe, GOD Bless ! Amen
Good memories at the fairgrounds w/ Jesse Tobias , Juan Diaz , my sisters Sylvia & Mary Garduno enjoy life and make memories you can look back at and get that certain feeling with good music like this 👍
This is AWESOME💜💜takes me back to the best memories!! First time I saw Grupo MAZZ I was 17 yrs old at the Hi-Ho Ballroom in Grand Prairie, TX💜💜I’ll never forget that year 1983!!! Love You Joe Lopez😘
Hey I think I was there that night!!! Some of my friends asked me to go and I wasn't sure about it. I had been divorced about 3 years and my kids were still young plus I hadn't been to a Texano dance hall since I was just a kid. I grew up listening to the Beatles, Rolling Stones, and others. Anyways I found my raza that night and now whenever I feel like dancing I put on my music and go to town which is kind of funny because I'm now married to a white guy and he's not a very good Texano dancer!!!! Lol
the bass player (simon) from tony de la rosa is his uncle. wrote music for many artists even cornelio reyna, tony de la rosa, freddie martinez, ramon ayala, jilgueros del arroyo, pepe aguilar y mas
