Both became a demon because they tought the one they romanticaly love died. This made me remember the moment future lucy died and natsu's reaction says it all no matter the real lucy or future he still cry for her.

Okay, I admit. At first, all I care about is Nalu. But after that one episode of Juvia knitted the scarf for Gray, I was crying so much near the end that makes me care about Gruvia almost at the same level as Nalu. Nalu and Gruvia 4ever!

Natsu and Gray lost shit after seeing Lucy and Juvia die. Both Natsu and Gray got a dark side and Juvia and Lucy helped them stay in line. Seeing them die crushed every bit of hope inside them. The war itself was dark and they were fighting for their friends but seeing their most precious friend die just... I just friggin love Erza. She's THE badass girl, she didn't hesitate in getting in between Natsu and Gray while they were fighting at full force cuz she knew they'd both not hit her, they're still the Natsu and Gray she's always known. Just that moment made Natsu and Gray realise how bad they were fccking up, they're both like brothers and were fighting to take one another's life which calmed them down like "WHAT THE HELL WAS I DOING??!" and moments after Gray started fighting Zeref so that Natsu could live on and all his friends could, he was ready to put his life aside and actually that guaranteed victory, Natsu just came in saved Gray saying LIVE, DON'T THROW AWAY YOUR LIFE SO EASILY just like how he's always telling him that his life is worth a lot and he should value it more. Gray helped Lucy re-write E.N.D's book. They both put their life on the line for one another. So just saying, it's not like they don't care about one another.

So many things happened to his friends. Erza was poisoned and could have died. Gray nearly gave up his life multiple times trying to use iced shell. Master Makarov was thought to be killed. Erza was injured while blocking the jupiter cannon. Lisanna was "dead". Igneel was killed right in front of his eyes. But the one thing that made Natsu lose control was when he thought his Lucy had been killed....not even his own father being brutally murdered by Acnologia made him spiral out of control. It's......I don't know if I even have words to describe it.....
