the simple fact of the truth is that the shear size/shape of the speakers enclosure surface is the prime contributor to the quality of sound. Of course, the problem of resonances needs to be solved, but once that is taken care of, that's it. The reason for this is that in an average room there is almost 200 pounds of air molecules (!). To move these molecules fast and in phase you need huge enclosure surfaces, that is the simple physics. First to recognize this was Wilson, but they deviated from that with Sabrina (put Sabrina tweeter and woofers into sophia enclosure and you'll get something on par with kharma elegance). All of good voiced speakers like this gryphon, kharma, big wilsons, focal, put emphasis on the shape of the enclosure. If anybody questions why same class magicos s cannot compete with these, that's the reason. that's why with raidho something is missing in the sound. these companies then either go into an enormous effort focused on drivers, crossovers, isolations, materials etc. (and they succeed e.g. magico s7, but at what price?), or they go in the direction of an illusion of sound (Raidho low and mid range, 40Hz or so low frequency, narrow enclosures improve the sound stage)
In my opinion that is based purely upon the imperfect and most likely incomplete sound source of RU-vid, I find these speakers have a tonal quality that seems rich, neutral, and detailed. I would presume from their size and power, that they produce sound effortlessly and with authority . . . producing a commanding sound stage . . . in my opinion. The presenter/representative is a very skilled, charismatic, eloquent, and knowledgeable of how to present his product and read his audience . . . entertaining and a lesson in promotional techniques to sell a product in a financially challenged world . . . at least for most. As comments below reflect upon . . . many of these fantastic speakers are beyond the average person, who loves and appreciates grand music and can only dream about -- but most likely will never own. However, there always has to be inspirational elements to motivate and aspire us. I like to think that with a little imagination, even within a limited budget, we can also achieve reasonable facsimile. I find it fascinating how many great minds are out there coming up with all these complex designs -- all the hard work and most likely sleepless nights. We are quick to criticize cost, etc., but the amount of investment to get to the point of prototype and then manufacturing, simply must be staggering.
Best system of all time putting all others to shame from a company that knows what they are doing without all the other voodoo crap of some of the others
What an authoritative design, I will fly to Europe to audition these audio projectors. I have a few questions, hoping a Gryphon official can respond.. 1.) N. American current 110V, utility frequency -60Hz, what amperage does the Kodo draw ? 2.) What amperage does the Mephisto draw ? 3.) How does the Mephisto topology compare & differ to Classe Audio's CT-2300 ? Thank you-
