Hey guys, I wanted to point out that the three different sights included are for different heights. I didnt know at the time of the video as it is titled "first impressions". Calm down internet ninjas, it's going to be ok. Also would like to point out the recoil spring in the gun likes hot ammo. GSG recommends 1250 fps or higher. The extra spring is for standard velocity ammo. Thanks for watching and make sure to check out the review video for this bad boy!
Hello Fun with Guns. I have had mine for 6 months. Best deal out there. I'd like to give you an ammo tip. Without modification it will run CCI/Remington Golden Bullets and Thunderbolts all day. If you file and polish the feed ramp it will run Winchester Super X sorta. Don't waste you money on the bulk box Federal Blue or White box. They are hot enough in regard to the 1200/1260 fps powder charge. The problem is the rim is smaller and the ejector hook will not catch on. The same problem allows too much gas out to kick the slide back. Btw Wal-Mart has the 500 box of Thunderbolts for 14.99. Thanks for sharing and Happy plinking🤜🏾🤛🏾✋🏾
Sweet! I have some goldens and I will definitely check that out next time. That makes sense and matches what issues I've been having. I have a gsg 522 and it loves thunderbolts. Will be looking forward to testing this. Thanks again for the tip!! 👍👊
I'm late but still. Im not criticizing at all.. Isee you commented about the separate sites being different heights. Also that little black thing isn't a site tool. It's actually the key for the disable lock in the bottom of the grip next to the mag well. I just discovered it last week after owning this gun for ages lol Its funny how many complaints I see about the Firefly being so picky with ammo. I have yet to have a failure to feed or cycle/eject. Seriously zero occurrences. I switched to the softer recoil spring immediately and thoroughly cleaned it before the first firing. Lubed it and have never had a problem.
Hughes Precision makes a Firefly thread adapter for the 1/2 × 28 cans. I would say check out rebel because they had one for $99 but it has gone up to $200 and is currently unavailable on their website. Maybe try one of these? Advanced Armament 64117 Aviator 2 Rimfire 22 LR 6.44" 1.00" Aluminum/Stainless Steel Black Anodized 1/2"-28 tpi It's at guns gunsmidwest for $187. Sorry I can't post links on here but I can on fb. Feel free to message me over their. On a side note I do want to add, maybe considering a universal can. There is some sweet deals for universal cans for just a little more 👍
Yes, sig contracted the sig mosquito out to GSG to make it. Sig stopped making the mosquito but GSG still makes the firefly. It's the same gun with a different name 👍
Yeah I felt stupid after finding that out 🤦♂️. if I would have read the manual to begin with I would have known and also that it needs over 1250 fps ammo to keep it going reliably.
flipping the spring didnt work for mine. i polish the ramp and entry to barrel and use clp break free to clean and lub. i shot 250 rounds of crap ammo the other day and had 4 fails (thats excellent for 22lr. slightly grinded the top of mag too. was a sad camper the first week owning this thing but after the fix it's fun to shoot.
Yeah they are finnicky. I guess it just takes time figuring out what needs done. Wish we didnt have to do all this to get em to run. I have noticed high velocity 1250 fpsor higher ammo runs great in mine. About a 99% success rate (maybe a handful of hiccups out of a box of 500).
I had one for 5 months I shot golden bullet and CCI but it was still a mess up I get a failure to feed or failure to eject about one every magazine that tired of that got rid of it , trade it in on a Ruger SR22 and I have no regrets that thing eats up everything
I hear ya brother, cant go wrong with those SR22's! I'm gonna try cci stingers and see if it helps. I think it needs 1250 fps to function well and while doing research the stingers will achieve that out of the barrel length. If that or different mags dont help I may just deal with it or go the same route as you. Thanks for viewing!
I ran 500 rounds of thunderbolts and had very little failures. The only issue I had is they left so much lead in my barrel. Going forward I'll clean the barrel every 150 rounds or so when shooting those. Shooting 500 in one day made it so my cleaning rod got stuck and I thought I shaved metal out of my barrel 😬
I had one for 2 days. The slide release isn’t working or the decocker and every time I shoot a round I have to manually put the slide back into the starting position
Before you give a review... READ THE BOOK! 'Spare' forbeads are not to replace breakages. They are 3 differing heights to allow for elevation compensations as rear sight allows windage not elevation. Stopped listening at that point!!
That's really high. They are typically under $200 online and you can have it shipped to an ffl near you. I guess with the political climate that may be the only option right now though.
@@theotrevino9999 it's been good with hot ammo (over 1250 fps). I would honestly get a taurus tx22 or pay more for a M&P 22 though. They will be much more reliable and serve you well in the long run. If you really want a p226 clone though it should run fine as long as you use really hot ammo.
