It's interesting because I watched your original review from 4 years ago and you liked it but had some reservations about it. I just got one myself for models so I'm glad it holds up!

My initial review was unboxing right out of the box, At the time longevity and parts were a bit unknown. It is astounding that these sell even cheaper now. Definitely one of my favorite airbrushes. Honestly i have a lot of brushes here and I use my eclipse, my 270 and my cheap timbertech in a .8 setup the most. My badger omni is probably the next most used brush. The 270 has had a lot of paint through it for certain!

New subscriber here…I don’t know a thing about airbrushing, I paint w/oil & acrylic, but ended up on your channel by watching your video about projectors for tracing. Just want to say your videos are very good, clear and informative, and your animal portraits are amazing! Great job!

I love my PS 270...got it from Spraygunner along with their 1 gal. No Name Tooty Compressor...I love it so much, my Eclipse HP CS just sits in a drawer...I use either a Badger Omni 4000 or my Badger Sotar 20/20 for anything other than detailing...the Creos is my go to for detailing...great video, Bill...thank you, Sir...

Love your reviews and tutorials Bill, thank you. I have been enjoying customising Olympos airbrushes, having purchased some 15 (7 for canned-air) including MP-200A, MP-200C, and Custom Special SP-A. Many of the upgrades come courtesy of the B grade 200 series. Funny thing, when I had robbed my 200C of it's goodies, I replaced them with the displaced parts. Wonderfully, the faulty rough action was no longer apparent, it is now one of my best airbrushes. It cost just $90 (Australian). Thank you once again, you are an inspiration.

i have a mp 200 c that i really need to do some work on ... but its a pretty amazing brush considering when they designed and built them :) Thanks!
@ciruswind
@ciruswind Год назад
@@TheAIRspace Oh, to clarify, I refer to the 200 series as donors, not the MP200 series. By the way I have until recently used the Paasche Turbo almost exclusively, but with their cessation of production I needed to learn using conventional airbrushes for detail. It's been an exciting journey, and I've learned much from yourself such as the importance of textures, and subtractive techniques.

Great review! Love the alphabet test for detail man, shows how well it sprays. Not an easy job for any airbrush!! I'll be ordering one of these too. Just picked up the GSI ps-289 and it's a beauty.
@TheAIRspace
@TheAIRspace Год назад
the 289 is a beauty too! Ive had my 270 for 3 years and other than a head down drop where I replaced a needle and nozzle its had nothing else needed. As for the alphabet test MOST will fail that test unless they are thinned to near water consistency. It will really quickly show you if you are getting that fine delineation. Ill be looking forward to your spray angle measurements, as well as your thoughts. I really love these airbrushes, and the trigger is just rock solid compared to anything else out there. Thanks a million!

Going to buy this one today. Using 0.3mm (289) for about half a year and very happy that I have it😊 it was my first AB after I receive an AB as a 🎁 (chinese one Magma AB-130E, upgraded it with better needle and nozzle and everything was okay till last week (it worked almost a year for me), paint stops coming out, air comes out fine, I don't know what can be a problem, cleaned everything, sealed, no damage, each part set on its place, will take a closer look today). I'm very satisfied with Creos ABs, also have a 290 trigger type, 2 nozzles do a magic. Maybe you know what can be a problem that paint doesn't come out ? Thank! Have a good day 😉😉😉
@TheAIRspace
@TheAIRspace Год назад
if the nozzle is clean did you check the channel between where the nozzle comes in and the cup? Almost always no paint coming out is paint obstruction. A small outside chance the nozzle cap is not seated and not creating a vacuum. thats really about all there is to check. Other than a split or leaking nozzle, which usually will bubble air back in the cup.
@madera7170
@madera7170 Год назад
@@TheAIRspace there was air bubbles, forget to mention. I'll check all those things. Btw purchased 270, it is fantastic 😍. People in a model shop told me that nozzle may have a small hole and because of this there is no sealing.

@@TheAIRspace Hello👋 Well, the situation was very interesting for me, so I decided to share it with you. I fixed both ABs. The first AB (my very first AB) was somehow "filled with metal pieces" from inside, exactly near the regulation bolt for needle under the cup. Fully disassembled it, and found many metal pieces (upper layer of chrome I think), cleaned, sprayed with another AB, installed nozzle, sealed with wax. Put everything together and it started spraying. Second AB with right side cup had more interesting situation. I did the same procedure with bolt cleaning (even though I sprayed twice using this AB), it was clean, no metal pieces, literally nothing suspicious. Installed 0.3mm noozle, sealed 0.3mm nozzle cap. Hit the trigger -> only air..... More attempts and when I pressed the trigger in the next attempt I accidentally scrolled a nozzle cap and it started spraying paint (it was like tuning the radio ahahah). The problem was in nozzle cap, it was, I don't know how, damaged. The hole in it was not round but oval shaped.... This is going to sound terrible, but with the help of wax I was able to solve the problem. I think the problem was in that the nozzle does not fit tightly to the nozzle cap and because of this there was no tightness.

Could this be used for cake decorating? Or is there another one that you would recommend?
@TheAIRspace
@TheAIRspace 10 месяцев назад
this would be an excellent airbrush for cake decorating. Either this or its sister the ps289 would fill that need with ease while being very easy on the budget.

@@TheAIRspace excuse my ignorance.. Im obviously new to this. Which compressor would you recommend to go with one of these two? Im looking for something will decorate 3 to 5 tier wedding cakes. Bigger than cookies or small model planes but smaller than cars! Dont need an industrial strength motor but want something strong enough to get me through a job.
@TheAIRspace
@TheAIRspace 10 месяцев назад
@@thing2644 cakes are a fairly low volume use in most cases. Mainly some shading and blending which does not take very long with an airbrush. You can in this case get by with any decent airbrush compressor. But honestly cake decorating demands are pretty low. The food coloring is very thin and you dont need much pressure. And its very very easy to spray some shading coloring. So you wont be using the airbrush for long periods of time. This is ONE use case where i would say you can get by without a tank. Because the moisture wont be an issue. And without a tank there is nothing to build up rust and such. Which with food THAT could be a problem. So in almost any other case I would say a tank airbrush compressor But for your instance I would get one without a tank Just with the understanding it will overheat if run for more than a few minutes at a time. (should not be an issue for shading cakes)

Hello mate Do you think you can do the same in terms of detail as with the ps771? and another question, can the ps270 be cleaned with acetone? Thanks for your videos. Greetings
@TheAIRspace
@TheAIRspace Год назад
The 771 is a little finer. If you need absolutely tiny details the 771 can do that. This can get pretty ridiculously fine as well. It’s a very small difference Sure you can use acetone. It’s not my first choice but it can be used. Ptfe packing and solvent resistant o ring between the chamber is pretty standard on most everything these days.

Hi, can i ask you about a problem i am having with the 270. i only just got it, dissasembled and assembled just to know how to do it. and if i paint, after 4-5 strokes there is no more paint coming out. if i then pull the trigger back far to release a lot of paint it works again for 4-5 strokes. always the same. i tried reducing the paint further, no difference. only when i dial the pressure back to 15-18 psi it works for longer. can you maybe point me to what is wrong ?
@TheAIRspace
@TheAIRspace Год назад
that sounds like tip dry. first make sure you have the needle tip clean. second make sure you havent bent the needle tip slightly. and from there i have no idea what paint your using. what paint , how thick it is all of those are the factors that matter. and lastly if you are not keeping the air on throughout it is going to tip dry more often.
