The tectonic setting and depositional history of some of South Australia’s basins provide the ingredients to host significant base metal mineralisation including sedimentary Cu, SEDEX Zn-Pb-Ag, structurally controlled Cu-Au and MVT Pb-Zn.
This talk by the GSSA's Adrian Fabris provides an overview and context for base metal occurrences across the State. The major deposit models and time intervals for these occurrences are discussed. A particular focus is given to the sedimentary Cu model as applied to Neoproterozoic sediments in the Adelaide Rift Complex and Stuart Shelf, and include a discussion of regional controls to known deposits.
