BSWJ - Sounds great ... Love a good banjo ... Amazing how when you put ALL the instruments together how great a sound it really is. That's why I love my Bluegrass ...
Dear GSWJ……Please stop making me buy stuff I didn’t know I wanted to buy ! Lol. Awesome video J.P. Ginger, and Chris ! Great to see that you’re able to get out on the bike J.P. And that Ginger’s wipe out wasn’t too serious “FFS” lol.
Thanks for the review. They are none on RU-vid bar this one. I’m a fairly experienced woodworker, that must have been quite the pucker factor drilling into that neck. Nice job! I’m looking to purchase but they are hard to find. My Sweetwater rep says Gold Tone is having some parts challenges but Sweetwater anticipates getting more in mid-November in time for Christmas. P.S. I knew it was artificial mother of pearl and abalone for that price. It is by no means an inexpensive banjo, but if the MOP and abalone were real it would be much more expensive. Thanks for the video, let’s hear more from it. Why no more videos of it after this review? Is it a showpiece or an everyday banjo for you?
about 15yrs ago i was working an odd job for the space coast express news paper, i was selling space for adds in the paper. i was going into every business i could to try to sell them a spot in that paper. when i walked up to gold tone it didn’t show any signs of it being a music fab shop on the outside at all. when i walked in there’s was some of there instruments in the front. that’s when i might some of the nicest people i’ve ever met! i asked if i could have a job there because i was a guitar picker and loved all that they did and really wanted the chance to build my own acoustic guitar with the props. i was give the job and i was lucky enough to build that wood song acoustic i was wanting to build. and i have yet to find a guitar that plays and sounds as good. i picked up one of them red labels you made a video on not to long ago and the wood song has it bet hands down! anyway just thought that was a cool story about the fine people there at gold tone and the instruments. wish they were still making the wood song what a great friend it’s been!
I ordered one of these from gold tone 6 years ago but the delay was so long I cancelled, really wanted one but in the end I had a banjo custom built for me and it's great. The OB 300 is a great banjo though.
I have two banjos (both quite cheap) but I have the shubb capo on one and railroad spikes on the other and I have to say the shubb is definitely my preferred option
More banjo. Could not believe that resonator back. My banjos have spikes and I do miss the sliding capo sometimes that was on the Iida I sold. What is the spacing on the bridge from the first to fifth string? Can the neck handle Crowe spacing type bridge?
I own an OB 300, and I love it, but it should be pointed out that the inlay is a "synthetic" abalone. It doesn't detract from it at all, but it should be pointed out.
