There was an Irish mob boss years ago who used to carry out gangland hits himself as boss: PJ "The Psycho" Judge. Well known for how extremely volatile he was and for his ruthless control of the drug trade in Dublin for years. Buried one of his soldiers alive for skimming profits. Killed by the IRA in the 1990s. Believed to have been planned by his protogé, Martin "Marlo" Hyland, who was killed in his bed in 2006.
I remember as a kid I saw this and was blown away by it. I thought that this short film was actually a highlight reel for a GTA film and that the game was some kind of adaptation😆 I looked for that film for years until I learned I had it all wrong 😭
It's wierd looking at this so many decades later and realising that the main game have nothing in common with this movie as it was set in retro futuristic 60s and it has amazing feel to it
I still remember the intro like it came out yesterday! I never had GTA2 but my cousin did and we used to live in the same building and we played it together. I prefer the 3D GTA but the top down games of the series were fun too!
If you take a look, Claude actually starts to show concern as he looks up from inside of the car after consuming the meds. This is him realising we are seeing what he’s doing from above. Good job rockstar 👍
they are sorta good but very primitive on the controls and viewpoint...However, let them be remade just like Chinatown wars and they are going to be amazing. i'm sure of it.
In the movie he looks like Claude from GTA 3 (that's very similar with Elvis Presley), in the concept arts he looks like Niko Bellic, in the gameplay he just looks like an biker gang member. Ps: I love Claude, I really like the 2D Universe, this mini movie is just a masterpiece, thank for ramastered.
I was obsess with this game back then. I watch these videos a lot. I like the actor for Claude Speed. After all, I watch him in The Bill and EastEnders.
At the time, Rockstar made a deal with a British record label to use songs from their artists for GTA 2 (including the songs used in this short film) and so this movie was included as a bonus feature on sample CDs from the record label. I think it was also available to download on Rockstar’s website at the time
Dude I wrote this 4 months ago.. well I hope you’re feeling okay I have no clue what I was on about so just go for a harmless laugh … I did however enjoy play gta2 as a kid because of the different factions you can play as and I would rather have games like that which push the players to choose a side that is relatable on their preference of play-style.. like the original Mercenaries; Playground for Destruction
90s FMV's in alot of games sucked but GTA 2's intro/movie is really damn good eventho its basically just one long teaser for the game, just like the cutscenes in C&C, Red Alert, Tiberian Sun its FMV done right. :)
The intro is limited to like 15 FPS so upscaling it to 60 doesn't really work out great. The program was clearly unable to detect transitions. The issue doesn't appear in the movie cause the original material already had a higher framerate.
This is something that I wish was in GTA V, have Trevor steal Deludamol vans and run a drug business instead of being a walking disaster who's constantly failing. Why not have T.P.I runs from McKenzie airfield and the Sandy Shores airfield to tweakers in Los Santos?
Nah. Apparently they complained about how much hassle it was to make this. Because they had no permit to film and they were getting kicked out of most places anyways making it a pain in the ass to film this. So they said they'd never so something like this again.
He was being paranoid. He kept looking up through the windshield and looking up through the sun roof because he was trying to make sure he wasn't being watched by helicopter. Since they were tracking the van he took before he grabbed that BMW. I think that scene of him acting paranoid like that in the car was inspired by a similar scene from Goodfellas.
I recently started playing this, and if you read the character bios, it makes this basically R*'s most psychologically messed up game next to Manhunt. Look up Trey Welsh's biography for example, and just the lengths these gangs will go to to attack each other: cloning, designer drugs running rampant, human sacrifice and cannibalism akin to Soylent Green, it's like a Philip K Dick novel. Truly dystopian. GTA has never been this dark since. They should make a GTA: Carcer City! With melee controls like The Warriors and tons of gangs.
Yeah it was was darker actually than the ones that followed. If you notice in this movie, there's some dude who works as a janitor at the Zaibatsu corporation, but when they need an assassin, they activate the guy by whispering a trigger word to him, he's like a hypnotozed sleeper assassin. Mind control, MK ultra style. Probably believes he's just a janitor. That's pretty dark right there
@@taylorwhite254 nice catch dude 🧐 The thing that weirds me the most about Zaibatsu is its similarity to the tyrannical pharmaceutical and technocracy of today. They have a monopoly on everything, even human consciousness, it seems.
@@mikeydashank3897 yep, they have their fingers in every pie in every district. They're involved in some weird stuff. They influenced me for sure when I was a kid. I always wanted a fancy black car with the big Z on top. Still think it would be kinda cool. I figured z types would be like black BMW Z3's or something
So true. GTA 2 was pretty dark. Looking back now I agree. Sadly, I feel its dark edgy side went over alot of people heads since it was filled with alot of comedic elements even dark comedy. Don't forget the funny radio stations which were comedic gold! Plus, the game pretty much presented itself as something that couldn't take itself seriously. The darkest moment for me was when the Russia Mafia asks you (the player) to kidnap people and bring them to a factory to turn them into Hot Dogs so that their comrades can eat. Sick! I feel GTA 4 is the darkest of the series along with some moments of GTA Liberty City Stories. I wish there was a remake of GTA 2. It could be ALOT of fun.
Thank you so much for this remaster. As a kid I was obsessed with the late 90 early 2000s vibes of this movie. You can even see the WTC in the early shots. The drum and bass is excellent, and that small film gave me a love for the E39 BMW 5 series. Just love this film.
Even though this promotional film was made for GTA 2, it reminds me far more of GTA III. In my opinion, this should have been used for GTA III instead of GTA 2. This promotional film doesn't even match the visual theme or time period of GTA 2. GTA 2 has fictional, futuristic-looking cars and takes place in a dystopian future setting; while this promo film, on the other hand, appears to take place in our normal, modern, real-life world. The setting and visual style resembles GTA III, not GTA 2. Also, Claude Speed in this film looks very much like GTA III's version of Claude Speed rather than the GTA 2 version. You can tell that DMA Design/Rockstar devs took a lot of inspiration from this GTA 2 promo film when making GTA III - especially designing Claude. GTA III Claude appears to be inspired by the actor in this film. Looks just like him.
Yes I couldn't agree more with your statement. The only graphical renders of GTA 2 Claude actually have him looking more like Niko Bellic from GTA4. This makes Niko's ability to unlock Claude's outfit even more interesting.
There are a few more renders of him that look a little more like how he looks here, with the longer hair, black boots, and dark pants (though you don't get a good look at his face). One where he's running from the cops, and one where's he's getting shot by an electrogun
Because they are "the same Claude", Rockstar just made a soft reboot for GTA III, but 2 is in 2013, if want to see it as a continuation, ok, if u want to see it as a alternative temporal line, it's correct too, there's no divergence with GTA III story, he was in LC being hated by everyone at the final, then u can make the speculation that he moved for Anywhere City to start a new criminal life.
The person who plays Claude in this is Scott Maslen. He is known in the UK for being part of a long running soap called Eastenders. Known as ''Jack Branning''
Fun fact: the song that starts at 3:36 is called Thunder, which is made by Dom and Rolland. It is also the same song that plays throughout the police chase
4:26 Dom & Roland's Thunder playing, there is car chase scene going on and then this person in long jacket walks to view like it was everyday thing. Thats a fucking iconic moment for me!
