@Happy Thoughts we never said that trailers back then are worse, we're saying that it's better than what we have now, which are either pre-rendered (which says nothing of the actual game) or cutscene focused (which ALSO says nothing about the game because a game is for playing, NOT watching). if you want a good balance, look at the original halo 1 trailer

This title truly changed gaming in general tbh with you. It raised the bar in the gaming industry and was the most original concept ever. Kids don’t understand how massive and free this game felt at the time. The only games that were somewhat similar to this game and by similar, I mean being able to freely explore a world were adventure games like Ocarina of Time, Mario 64, Shadow man, and obviously others I can’t think of. We had RPG’s like FF7 as well but nothing that felt this free and open. I used to get lost in the world of Shadow man when I was a kid. I’d play that game for hours and “role play” scenarios in my head like I was really interacting with the world and so, you can only imagine how immersed I felt with GTA3. Another thing kids will never be able to really appreciate was the completion of games when they were released. There was no DLC or constant updates. When games were released, they were completed and all the extra content was on the disc ready to be unlocked. Companies are cash cows now and they release these incomplete games full of bugs. I mean, I’d rather play GTA3 any day of the week vs Cyberpunk. That’s how amazing this game is to this day.

I had played Driver 2 on PS1 prior to GTA 3 so the leap wasn't quite as big for me, but obviously GTA 3 had more stuff to do when free roaming and it did feel pretty mind blowing at the time. (I don't remember if you could do anything worthwhile in Driver 2 when not driving)

Kids today? I was one when this came out and I don’t understand anything mind blowing about this and im far from a kid lmao
