Yesss! Set it up so Alex’s knows what cars he needs and where the cars are but he doesn’t know which car is which if that makes sense. Also maybe have it last a day and a half? Or have the cars parked in easier places to find. Or each car has a few words description next to it like ‘in a car park’/‘on a drive’/‘behind a wall’ etc
@@johnnyboy3949 i was thinking 2 days to gather 10 vehicles. A general location, knowing exactly where ruins the hunt. Color and general description. No hiding it where it cant be seen from the AI path. Only issue I see is 48 hours in game is a really long time.
Yeah I was thinking knowing exactly where the cars are and what they are, so we can see how Alex goes about getting them and they go about limiting him.
Next time you do this, you should have a list of the car types and colors. Not correlated with locations, but that way you can see "frosted gold car, nope none of these are that color" and not have to worry you're getting the wrong ones.
I'm thinking have one modification that every one of the target cars has, like the dollar sign hubcaps. Doesn't have to be super noticeable, just identifiable for someone who's making an effort to look
If this is taking cues from Gone in Sixty seconds then a proper car thief would know what they’re looking for and where. Locations can be given just like they were for this game. IMO guards should be a smidge more obvious, like they need to be in the same car with the same color as if they were a security company. Hunters can still drive what they like.
Alternate Gone in 60s Rules: Alex is the thief. The referee records the map view and places the target cars. All but two hunters patrol in police cars and are dressed in known uniforms. The remaining two are plainclothes in unmarked cars and can change vehicles. Alex has a list describing the target cars (high-end, not necessarily supers and one Eleanor) and their areas of the maps. Hunters do not know the target cars, but can stake out potential targets. Alex picks a drop-off location _anywhere_ on the map and tells the referee. Underground, humane labs. Any place everyone can get to. (No personal garages/bunkers.) StH rules for weapons and engagement. Alex scores based on cars delivered to the drop-off within the time limit. Alex wins if he collects more than half the cars. Hunters win if: They kill Alex. They find the stolen cars at the drop-off. Alex steals less than half the cars. This would be a pretty close match to the movie. If spotted, Alex has to 'lose the cops'. Alex has an up-front challenge of picking a drop-off. Hunters have to allocate resources between patrolling, stakeouts, and searching for the drop-off.
The trouble I see is how he's going to manage that in a single day. In the movie they had three days and 50 cars. One day was for scouting so that brings it down to 25 cars or just over one hour per car, with time scaling that goes way down to just 1 car though. That said 4 does seem to be doable with these rules to perhaps 2-3 obligatory cars aside from Eleanor? Obviously Eleanor needs to be last but in the movie it was a known car under surveillance, so that's something for the hunters. It still feels like it needs to be a 2 hour special though. Losing the hunters before stashing the car would be very time consuming.
@@Djhg2000 Good points. I'd also amend that Alex needs to deliver cars from the list. If he sees a black Infernus, it doesn't have to be one placed by the ref. What the placed cars do is ensure that Alex _can_ win.
@@SeanFlynnNB That's a good point. I think the best match to the movie would be some that require the actual placed car (in the movie that had to cut keys for some of them) and some that can be random parking lot cars. The premise was that the owners wouldn't know the cars were gone, which excludes carjacking and parking lot thefts where the police noticed. I thought about adding a rule that random parking lot cars had to be at night but that window of opportunity is ridiculously small.
@@SeanFlynnNB instead of Eleanor being a 67 shelby mustang fastback like in the film for Alex Eleanor should be the PINK PRIUS, obviously the car would be upgraded aswell
@@Zequax I've played this game since previous gen console and I can probably count the number of times I've seen a Tailgater spawn in the wild in multiplayer free roam
In the words of Janice: OH MY GOD! I've been subscribed to this channel for years and still remember the heists of old. They were pure gold, I am over the moon to see them make a comeback.
Alex: ~looks at obvious player car~ "Was that car always there?" Watching this caused me great pain. Everyone knows a Tailgater doesn't spawn in traffic!... Or is it just me? Edit: Aight, I gotta clear some things - I haven't played GTA5 on the current Gen consoles. All I have is an Xbox 360 and I know for a fact that in old Gen story mode, the only time you see a Tailgater (other than the one owned by Michael) is during Franklin's Simeon missions, and in old Gen Online, they don't spawn at all. I have no clue what it's like on current gen
Yes, please do this one again, Something that actually forces you to get out of the car and take more chances makes for extra fun content. ...so long as you dont get your head blown off in the first 5 minutes, of course.
@@adaml83 well for them maybe when they're playing. For the audience I get the funny feeling there are a lot of "okay, let's start again" moments that have never been seen.
@@TheRealAlpha2 Ok I can imagine, just how many of them are related just to connecting to Rockstar servers, and well...don't want to give the hunters too many flashbacks.
@@kruleworld You'll find my comments asking for multiple POV's on their first STH's from way back when. There's a channel (now dead) called gtamissions that used to make tonnes of fun GTA content and they would play cops n robbers (1 guy gets away, 20 cops chase) and they would record multiple POV's and I would watch them all. The helicopter POV really pulls it together and makes it a very satisfying watch. It would take 2 hrs to watch a 10 min chase, but damn I would laugh at the cops failing in the background and knocking each other out of the chase on accident. GTAmissions is a great guy and was a great channel. Failrace could learn a thing or two about playing GTA for fun instead of slamming on the brakes at every corner. (Which is why the Wrecked vids suck so much)
I believe that thetailgaiter doesn't spawn online. Tailgaiters also dont have a spoiler on them at stock. Ir suspicions were correct I'm guessing about it being one of them
Yes Alex, this is actually more entertaining than going around the map hunting for Pink Prius. A tip for the next time, maybe have a vague description of the car hidden in that area which includes the color of the car as well. For e.g. *Ketchup Bull.* Tomato Ketchup is red, and a bull is the logo of a Lamborghini. So you're potentially looking for a red lambo in the area. something like this, just vague hints, not too obvious.
My first thought was to have a defined list of code names like the Clue boardgame characters that coordinate with the car colors, i.e. Col. Mustard would have been great for the Exemplar, Mrs. Scarlett for a red car, etc.
The heist community returns. Joins with the hunt community and so begins a new series. Though make them easier to find.. Whoever thought of bringing this back many rolled car salutes to you
The original 'Gone In 60 Seconds' is my second favorite car movie. I loved the car collecting missions in GTA 3 and Vice City. The trouble with watching these is that my thumbs keep twitching wanting to spin the camera or steer.
I really liked this mode! It gave more reasoning for you to be in certain parts of the map, rather than just sticking to your usual routes. And I'd definitely count that FQ as a fourth car lmaoo
love these videos! been around since Forza 4! Game idea: Survive the Prius Repo. use a tow truck to steal pink Priuses from around the city and dump them in the sewer. Hunters can only use buses. story being: man steals and destroys priuses, prius drivers steal buses to try to stop the man stealing their Priuses.
I know dude it just infuriates me when someone doesnt notice something obvious kinda like at the shops when your looking for the chilli flakes and your staring at them, its the im looking for what i have/see phenomenon
We need a Discussion Video more than ever. Also, interestingly, I recently read a comment on a previous video asking for another heist. Don’t remember who it was or if they’re commenting this but what the hell.
I've been binging on classic FailRace every evening this week. I thought I was hallucinating some alternate reality when I heard Alex describe this video. "There's no way he's doing tha...he is!" It's so much fun watching everyone fall over themselves in GTA5 over the course of some shenanigans in comparison to FH4 racing (which can be exciting at times, but just like FH's gameplay...can become monotonous). Have to echo what others have said though, you need a list of what you're going for or you'll continue to chase after lots of frosty fool's gold. No complaints otherwise though - glad to see the hunter air support back down to a minimum too. P.S.: I miss Husky. I could only think of his wisdom about pickup trucks being the Bestest Escappe Vehicles [not] on that last attempt. That, and the Very Narrow Passageway, but mainly Husky's satire.
I'm fairly certain that the he could've got the truck out through that gap... or is that because I'm used to taking smaller cars through that sort of gap?. This should become a regular series or something 👍👍
Recent subscriber here. I loved this so much, but I agree with other majority commenters. Needs a little bit of refinement so less time wasted spotting the cars. This was such a fun watch though. Thanks for giving us such great content.
Absolutely brilliant. Someone else had mentioned the hunters being in cop uniforms and cars, I think that is a great idea. For a tweak, I think it could be as simple as make it a requirement that the target cars all have neons, to make it more obvious as to what you're looking for. If they are meant to be obvious, but some were to subtle, neons are definitely not subtle.
27:54 that's a left turn lane you're ignoring, Alex. If I were a hunter I'd have known immediately that it's you 😂 just from the turn you make from the straight through lane 😂
We need another one of these. But also with a discussion video afterwards, where we see what each guard was doing on Alex's approach and actual theft of the cars. They're probably off being distracted by something, but it would be interesting to see!
Very enjoyable and a nice variation on survive the hunt which manages to keep all the good bits of that, would like to see another attempt. I even think a discussion video for this would work as well!
Loved it so much! Please make more, but yes definitely have a list of the cars for yourself, and maybe have the hunters not know what car it is instead, so it adds a layer of uncertainty when they're checking if you've stolen a car or not. Maybe have only the guards know what car it is, and they're not allowed to say what it is until it's been confirmed stolen!
I love the Survive The Hunt series and this was just as good! I think the only thing I would change is that you know what car you are trying to steal, not just its location on the map. That way you know exactly what you are trying to get. In "Gone In 60 Seconds" they at least had a list of cars they needed to get and where they were before they tried stealing them. Other than that, it was a great video and will definitely want to see the next episode! I also think you need to know more exact information on where the cars are. In the movie, they cased all the vehicles first so they knew exactly where they were before they attempted to steal them on the final day.
Two simple modifications that could help make things far more interesting: 1) More info on the car you're looking for. If not make/model then at the very least the color. This is, after all, info a thief would have. 2) If a hunter makes you and you're not in one of the target cars he can tail you and inform the others, but he can't make a play until you make a move on the next car. Advantage for you is you won't have your search for the target car interrupted by hunters, disadvantage for you is you'll have to worry about tails and wonder how many eyes are on you as you move on the car (and if they've positioned themselves to be ready for you to make your move)
Great Video!! @FailRace, I've been binge watching your videos and I thank you for helping to pass the time through this whole outbreak time. I got 2 questions: 1. When will we see the return of Rhyss, Husky and Daniel?? And 2. I watch one of your "Survive The Hunt" videos where you said you wanted to shoot down a blimp. Did you ever do it? Cuz I'd love to see that!! LOL!!! 😉
I love it. This could be a reference point if there will a next one. Maybe making the cars skittles color or the hunters current car could be the same for the target car and Alex have to remember them.
This was definitely a fun ride. I really expected a more "planned" heist like the early video where you and your buddies were stealing the supercars. Then I expected that you'd just be stealing the pink prius instead of blowing them up. Either way, love these challenge type videos.
That was very good. More action than the usual survive the hunt. I'd like to see the "discussing" episode to hear what the hunters were planning and saying, and find out how long it took them to notice the first car was gone!
It’s not the content that’s so enjoyable it’s also the way he just talk in general, he could be talking about anything and make it sound soothing and interesting
A agree, Alex should have a list of cars. If you weren't familiar with the airport area, that Tailgater would fit in nicely. To go along movie lines, give each car a nickname: 1 - "Maxine" - 1970 Dundreary Regina Sport - Orange. 2 - "Betsy" - 1954 Vapid Slamvan - Red and White. And so on and so forth. To borrow a few of my favorite ideas from the comments: - The original group of hunters could start with police vehicles and have a uniform. - The Hunters shouldn't be told exactly where the cars are. They should have a map like our hero. - Guards are plainclothes and are "rival gangsters". They will neither help nor hinder the Hunters. - Try some very strange and off-the-wall vehicles. No supercars, but maybe a neon blue Croquette? The Tailgater blended in too well, but we shouldn't make it easy! - After you finish, whether you win or lose, head back to the drop-off point and have the remaining cars show up, so you can groan about driving right past them. If you have a Discussing the Heist video, have the owners show where they were hidden!
This was a refreshing spin on the Survive the Hunt formula. If you ever become bored with StH, I'd be happy to watch more of these "Gone in..." episodes. This formula could be refined a little bit but it certainly has merit. The only part that bored me a bit was when you spent an excessive amount of time pursuing what turned out to be *not* one of the cars at the airport. I think that could be easily resolved with more distinctive target cars and clearer map markers.
Really enjoyed this as an alternative to blowing up Pink cars - looking forward to the ‘discussing...’ video. More info on what you’re supposed to be stealing (buyer’s list) is essential and cars need to be visible ideally from the road so you don’t end up wasting time driving around aimlessly. Some have suggested you shouldn’t know the exact vehicle locations but, if the hunters know where they are too and the cars are supposed to be guarded then there’s opportunities to snare you in a trap as they spot you entering (or even approaching) the target vehicles. Either that or you need more time to scout and steal the cars but the videos are probably long enough as they are.
Really like this new format, hope you'll do more of them. If you have all target cars with neons or left with lights on and doors open then it'd help them stand out.
Another good video. I do like that this game mode gets harder as you go with the guards becoming hunters. And, you actually managed to kill a few off. I wish you would kill more hunters in the Survive the Hunt series, it would make things easier on you in the long run I think.
Interesting new concept. You're going to have to know the exact location of the car or the exact description of the car you're looking for to speed things up. Make either of those changes and I think this is a winner.
The first 8 minutes, i felt like i had already seen this before? especially the combination of the yellow car at the gasstation. still love this concept very much tho, keep it up
Really enjoyed this video! I do want to see more, but I do hope to see survive the hunt continue as well. Maybe rotate between the two? STH one week and GTA the other would be cool.
I really liked this variant of Survive the Hunt! Maybe if the drop-off point was outside the city and they wouldn't be allowed to follow you out the city that would be more balanced than them needing to leave the docks area free
I like this variant on survive the hunt. The only constructive feedback I could possibly think of, is either a list of cars, or something like all with neon under body lights or something to make them identifiable.
Nice twist on STH and as said, it needs tweaking . Sack the guards get ones that actually guard from a nearby car not where you can be sniped at. Only you know EXACTLY where the cars are and none of this ponsing around looking for them. The suspense is you arriving and getting past the guard. Then the tension of the chase. Having to shake off each guard after getting every car is hard work for you but great entertainment for us. And I don't see why you need to be limited to one life, maybe two or three should be permitted. Finally.....BRING BACK BLIMPY!!!! Thank you for your hard work.
This is what survive the hunt needs (with some smoothing tweaks). The pink Prius' were a good idea and this makes a solid entertaining goal out of it. Maybe there is some way to scale your advantage as you collect more cars considering the hunter advantage scales too.. pistols for the first 2 cars, sub mgs for the next and then weapon of choice for the final 2.
This was fun! I think just a tad more obvious car colors/styles and be sure map locations are accurate would be a help so that it's not just Alex going "where the bloody hell is it" for the duration of the video.
This was excellent, I would love to see more. I think a brief description of the vehicles like others have suggested would solve basically all of the problems.
This is as exciting as STH. You should do more of these but maybe you need longer time? Also, the player cars could all be the same colour so you can know right away it is the car you are looking for. (pink or orange, you're favourite colours) :) Great video.
Absolutely awesome idea, with some careful tweaking I think it could be an amazing series. It would really cool to see STH & this every month. At the beginning of the month STH, & in the middle this. It makes the wait for the other seem not as bad.
