Reference ACSO, CHP, and Grass Valley PD. I am assuming that officially the Blaine County sheriff has his/her agency go by "Department". As it is now, geographic wise, the Kern/San Bernardino/Antelope Valley area in real life. Reference Lancaster, Big Sur, Salton sea, etc. And cars that are Alameda County Sheriff. However, AlCo does use "Office"... Nevertheless, that is not true. In fact, "Department is twice as more prevalent in throughout the state than "Office". Of course, there are some of those out there; 1. Nevada County Sheriff's Office 2. Placer County Sheriff's Office And technically the sheriff's deputies are officers. "Peace Officers" are what they are called and they are certified by POST across the state which allows anyone with a POC to exercise policing powers anywhere in the state at any time(Since they are peace officer 24 hours a day. Just as MPs are MPs 24 hours a day as long as they are are on base/installation or on orders). Reference "Geography vs Jurisdiction". Also reference "LEOSA" and "DPPC" which allows POC holders to exercise their powers in the state and jurisdiction. The only requisite to exercise the powers off duty and out of geography (not jurisdiction) is they need to be accredited(hired) by an agency, hold a POC, and witness a violent felony or misdemeanor. I hope this clears things up.
