buggs was right at the start. Demolition derbies are often started in reverse or whichever end the engine isn't in.

You know the game Wreckfest? In that game playing in the demolition derby arena, everyone starts facing towards each other the right way... I believe that is where Jeff got it from, as he and buggs did play a lot of Wreckfest at one point. And yes, where I live (Europe) we also start in reverse, so clearly Jeff didn't know about it before this video, but nowadays he might know a bit more versus when this video was released.

Different places do it different. Where im fro. We line up around 4 rows or cars and you can choose to go forward or backwards.

Reverse is how you start a demolishing derby. Even though a lot of Derbys feature built up cars a good hit to the front could very well insure a dead vehicle.

Technically if buggs wanted to start backwards you can because the rules of demolition derbies are different for each event. Also here is a quick summary of the rules Drivers may maneuver their cars forwards or backwards. No hitting of the opponents drivers doors will be tolerated. If a driver does not hit another car in 2 minutes time, the driver will be disqualified.
