the main reason why your framerate dropped so drastically when going from high to very high, is because you changed msaa from x2 to x8. best to keep it off or on x2. won't be a noticable difference in quality, especially on such a small screen.
GTA v without AA enabled suffers from horrible aliasing and shimmering, it’s noticeable to the point of being distracting and immersion breaking, it’s very noticeable at low resolutions especially. You can play high/very high settings with 4xMSAA capped at 30fps and it greatly cleans up the image. 60fps is more fluid, but absolutely not necessary, especially when considering this game was developed with 30fps target in mind.
@@iminlove1148 if you dont care too much for image quality as far as aliasing goes, you can forgo AA by turning it off. Drop from very high/ultra down to all high settings and you will get a nearly constant 60fps. If you want a cleaner image with more bells and whistles, lock it to 30fps and crank up the settings. 4xMSAA can be used.
@@iminlove1148 definitely. keep in mind, that this game was designed with a 30fps limit in mind so anything above that will just make the game feel more fluid although it's perfectly playable at 30fps locked.
If you would be turning off MSAA and only be using FXAA, you could get less of a performance decrease. MSAA is useless in this case since the steam deck screen is too small to notice a big diffrence so probably with fxaa you could get 60fps on very high settings.
Should work pretty good at 1600p no ugly AA at all. I remember when we hated Anti aliasing. What happened to us? It's still not good and performance takes hit.
My game does not run ob VUlkan (gamescope) and I maybe get half of the fps like you with even lowest settings. Very disappointing. Change to proton 705 does not help and 704 does not exist anymore
@@gawwyno1 Unfortunately there seems to be no way to fix that. Nevertheless all my games except GTA 5 are running fine so far. I asume the CPU of the Steam Deck is to weak for that game anyway. Remember its just a mobile processor with a power consumption of just 15W. Even way less than a H processor of a Laptop CPU.
Running uncapped framerates usually leaves you exposed to stuttering and lag spikes capping your fps will fix this issue so some games are fine and some need tuning
so , do this and will be the best settings ever , before entering in the game go to right settings and property and click on game rezolution from there u can bump up to 4k and then enter in the game , go to settings and now u can play higher than native rezolution , i play on 1680x1050 , fxaa on ,msaa off ,vsync on , texture and shader on high , shadows normal , reflection quality high , reflection msaa x2 , water quality on high , particles high ,grass high , soft shadow on soft ,post fx normal , anisotropic x4 , ambient occlusion off , teselation normal , and last but not least from right menu block the refresh rate to 45 and fps to 45 and u will have the best stable and playable , i play with power cord so i can put the battery in idle and not care about how much i will play 🤣 , this type of tactics works on every game , u must try and see what's best for every game
You need Social Club to play GTA V. Basically, you're locked online all the time. Try downloading a release day version of GTA V, though idk how piracy works on the Steam Deck. And, for the record, it's not piracy if you want to play a product you paid for.
@@mark030a , it's actually worked for me, i downloaded GTA V from epic games and results were bad like 30-40 fps on normal settings, so i downloaded GTA V from ghe internet and it worked just fine
@@miniTROLLman I mean, first of all, the Epic version is just fucked beyond belief optimization-wise (at least compared to the Steam one I got HUGE lag spikes and awful FPS averages with the Epic version) Second, it really depends what version you got. With every update the game gets more and more bloated to the point where I start questioning the integrity of Rockstar games as a company. Jokes aside the optimization of GTA V is absolutely atrocious.
@@mark030a , so true, as soon i got deck, i wanted to try GTA V, so when i got to gameplay, i was so disappointed, literally my day was ruined after results, i thought that my deck is broken. Somebody should fix that fucked version of GTA V, and actually it's not only for steam deck. I tried playing epic games GTA V and it got poor fps comparing to pirate copy of the game, or Steam
Tried using your "normal" settings but i get nowhere near those FPS with everything on normal. Standing still i get max 50-52FPS and while driving it goes as low as 40FPS.
For me its exactly the same. Its because of in this video its running ob vulkan api and that I cant get to work because proton 704 does not exist for me and 705 makes no difference
