Instead of using fraps to record and limit fps, you can use rivatuner or the Nvidia control panel to limit fps

Turning off the frame limiter does perform glitches but the game runs very smoothly. I like turning off frame limiter while driving vehicles.

How can I make my older GTA games such as 3, Vice City, and San Andreas run way better with frame limiter on because my games frame rates feel and look like garbage. If there any way I can fix this or is this meant to happen.

this is true! I 100% completed vice city at 116 FPS cap since my monitor supports freesync and it's 120hz using framerate vigilante, some windowed borderless mod I installed, and silent patch. game felt amazing to play and I only had to cap my FPS to 30 twice, which was for the timed boat checkpoint missions, which was the dockyard asset one, and the one for the colombians. playing through san andreas right now with the same setup using the 1.0 version. only completed the first mission but so far I have completed vigilante, all tags, ambulance, and burglary missions and I have not needed to cap my FPS once. sadly GTA 3 is basically unplayable because the sound loops are tied to framerate so 60 FPS would cut off certain pedestrian and police megaphone sounds, while at 120 FPS, sounds like footstep sounds and item pickups are cut off.

@@OutlawedPoet I've been playing GTA SA on 60fps but when cops shoot at you they blow your car up in seconds, have you not encountered that problem?, I read that the higher the FPS the AI shoots faster.

The stories have locked framerates, therefore there are no fixes for none-existent issues.

And the stories games don't have pc version

WRONG, SA just like VC and 3 were all coded with consoles in mind and the game physics work based on framerate rather than on timeframe calculations. All 3 games were intended with their respective frame limiters in mind, in fact on PS2 SA is capped at 25fps and can't be uncapped. So it's not "a bug", it's how it was stupidly intended by R*

@@torment4723 No, I wasn't wrong, you are. 3D Era GTA's were coded to run at 30 FPS. They do that on all consoles. PC version is cooked in a way that the ingame limiter actually runs the game at 30 but skips every 5th frame, making the game a suttery mess thus 25 FPS. Anyway it's been 3 years since the comment and FPS Vigilante has come out which fixes most FPS related issues.

For GTA IV, can't you just use an external program to lock the FPS? I have an AMD GPU and inside Radeon software there's the Radeon Chill option which can limit the framerate. Never tested it on IV as most of the issues are mission specific. Btw, the FusionFix mod is the closest thing to a SilentPatch for IV. Doesn't have many features but it fixes some bugs (like cutscenes zooming in constantly on some PCs) and restores console stuff like recoil. Edit: I just found out that the FusionFix mod allows you to limit the FPS in GTA IV.

San Andreas actually runs at 25FPS with Frame Limiter on, but the timing is broken on Steam PC.

If you tried these methods then it's not an FPS related issue so this video would not be useful to you. I cannot help you with that one, it has never happened to me. Good luck, hopefully someone else could help you out.

The framerate is tied to the game physics, meaning that increasing the framerate past 30 will cause some issues. Playing at 30+ will always cause bugs, no matter what you do, the more FPS you have, the worse it gets.

try framerate vigilante for gta sa. it makes the game 60fps and some animations 30fps to help the game not break.

The more framerate you have, the more the physics will change as it's not intended to be played at that much. Some glitches/bugs and gameplay changes you won't even notice at 60 fps, but things such as swimming in San Andreas will be very noticable. My suggestion is to try playing at 60 if you can't stand 30, but know that it's not how you are "supposed to" play and might encounter some oddities.

@@Badinfos Does Framerate Vigilante fix all the bugs? If there are bugs intact in the mod, the question is, do these bugs that FV kept even happen at 60fps? Or you need 90+ FPS to trigger them.

Hasan Birlik here’s what I did with controls when I played Stories and Chinatown Wars on PC with emulator (I never used controllers in my life): First, I see what button on PSP makes a certain action in game, for example, if circle is for jumping (I’m not sure if it is, I’m not too familiar with console buttons, I’m just giving an example), I use space for “circle”, because I want to jump with space button on keyboard... If “X” is for shooting/fighting, I set LShift to be the “X” If triangle is for entering vehicles, I set F or Enter on keyboard to be a triangle to enter a vehicle... For movement I use WASD keys and for camera movement I use arrow keys... Et cetera, Et cetera, you eventually fit all controls the way you like it, I hope you get the point

But capping at 60 fps does not resolve all the problems; the ambulance and police car sirens can't be toggled, car jumps freezes the camera, and sprinting downstairs sometimes throws you far off (not always). Without introducing any problems the game can run at 37 fps max which does not really make that much of a difference. So I settled for 30 fps as well.

You should turn off Definition from settings it enable motion blurr while driving and makes the game look smoother even at low FPS

you should be running 1.0 + silent patch for the best PC experience imo, which fixes the FPS limit and allows the game to run correctly at 30 FPS
