I love the details they added in GTA4 and how good the story was. However, a fun game for me will always be better than a detailed but slightly tedious game. No matter who you are, you have to admit that 5 is so much more fun to play.

The atmosphere is unmatched, GTA IV made me feel like I was a 2-bit gangster who was going 3-bit and at the time when I was 7 years old this game was all I needed. Going online, earning money to increase Player level for new clothes was all I cared about. Free Mode was actually fun, driving around the city when it was Night was actually beautiful. All those hours sitting in the online lobbies listening to the GTA IV theme. Made me feel like I was walking thru a high class condominium while plotting on how I’m going to take over Liberty City.

When I played GTA 5 for the first time I was impressed by the graphics, but right off the bat I noticed so many things were left out. Especially the driving.

Ghost Hawk Driving? Driving is great in GTA V compared to IV. In IV it felt like gliding a boat down a sleet covered street.

The closest you can get is the PC version but the last time I checked it was a badly optimized mess.

Gta 4 is better in terms of stumbling down stairs, getting hit by cars etc like you said, but everyone takes at least 5 rounds to the chest and survive, usually without falling over, so the power of weapons was the only flaw.

This isnt CoD with endless respawns of enemies until you go through an invisible wall. Also what alot of people forget is that the Multiplayer is much better than in GTA IV. You can still roam around and do whatever you want but also do missions, heists, buy real estate, own cars and much more. Still im not saying that its perfect or every aspect of it is good. The only real Multiplayer is GTA:SAMP RP, GTA V is also getting it's community made multiplayer but it's very experimental in it's current state.

Yeah, I also "missed" GTA IV and decided to play it for the nostalgia a few days ago. The first thing I noticed was how much the graphics hurt my eyes and I wasn't tempted to do any missions again either. Go there -- kill this guy. Go there -- kill that guy. Go over there -- kill a couple more guys. Kill, kill, kill. Now drive a car somewhere. BORING. Now you've fcked up on a mission; you have to start from scratch. At least GTA V had a lot more variety in its missions, though tbh I didn't really love the story. All I know is I had way more fun exploring the map in GTA V than I did doing practically anything on GTA IV.

Kidnamed GT Better feeling to the gameplay and more passion put into storyline. To put it shortly: rockstar games wanted to make a fun and realistic game with GTA IV. With GTA V they wanted to make the most realistic GTA game ever but they put lesser priority on the fun factor and thrills and also how you feel and connect to the game and character. The passion thing is maybe 75% of the games importance and in GTAIV they put alot of emphasis on it. With GTA V they were focusing so much on making this game realistic and listening too much to 11 year old kids on forums that they made a soulless game with mediocre physics and that was its downfall sadly.

I remember when I had the Lost and Damned dlc when I was a kid just running around being retarded. I accidentally bumped into somebody and they got mad so I started swinging fists at them. Just before the npc was about to die, they ran away. So I pulled out my pistol to finish them off. As soon as I fired, a woman npc got caught in the crossfire and died instantly Because it was a headshot. I was confused, shocked, and surprised that even happened. I later caught up to the npc that ran away from me and I finished them off but still...... that was probably the only time I felt bad about killing an npc unintentionally.

When you start and your Strenght is at minimum people actually take few hits before they go down, you knock them out 1 hit when your Strength is fully up. Its nowhere near IV but its still something and I like how stats impact your character. Its like this with more things in V, some people complain about how in V you can run endlessly without loosing breath. You can, if your Stamina is maxed out, but when you start the game your character actually slows down after some time running etc.

San Andreas had larger gameworld AND more variety, same with GTA V and both had BETTER storyline AND characters...
