Even if they wanted a sense of randomness to it, they could of scripted a fail safe. Every 5 presents picked up is guaranteed to be a sweeter you don't have.
To be honest, my first try never had issues. I travelled next to a friendly player and they followed my idea to call in Phantom Wedge with me. I didn't care for any loot, cash or ammo. I prefer friendly interactions in GTA Online. Anyways, I'm glad you got what you wanted from the holiday fun events. I love your videos. Happy Holidays man!
@@tony42898I used the 6x6 acid lab, it gives zero fucks about jet powered broomsticks. Still took me a couple of lobbies to get the Sprunk sweater but I had fun getting it.
It would be better if when it drops a present anyone can collect it within a certain time but even if someone else collects it another player can also collect it, kinda like the collectibles where anyone can get them regardless if someone else grabbed it
I agree with that cause then it would be fair for the like 2-10 people trying to get it, and especially if people couldn’t kill others while participating in the event
@@sethrohitheflo exactly i tried getting presents for a 6 hours one day and was able to get let a total of five cause half the people are using scramjets, oppressors, deluxos and you can’t participate in the event in passive mode so i would just get killed even when im being friendly and just trying to get presents when the rewards are barely worth it
It also doesn't even gift credit to all players in a vehicle, only the driver, it would be more fun with friends pilled into a vehicle for it to count for everyone
Occasionally I think it glitches and drops a present per each person following at random times. Other times its at the same time for every one and its whoever picks it up first. My only gripe about this event is sometimes gifts drop but don't show up yet leave a marker on the map, and other times get stuck midair and you cant reach them
I’am a solo player, since I started gta online 3-4 years ago. I like being a solo grinder. But minimum requirement of 2 players in a session for a event is very disappointing and i’am very disappointed. Why R* why is everything more difficult than it already is?????
I've given up trying on the PC, cuz none of my friends play anymore and the public lobbies are full of script kiddies bombing, teleporting, giving max wanted level or just straight booting you out to singleplayer. A couple sweaters and an outfit aren't worth the hassle.
I kind of understand your point. For me was waiting for The Gooch. On the first lobby I joined I waited like 1h for him to spawn and nothing, meanwhile I had to escape s grieffer and being careful because there was a modder in the lobby. I then changed to another lobby with 5 people and 3 of them logged out, luckily one person didn't and I could k*ll The Gooch around 10min after I joined.
Last year I didn't get the Gooch mask because of the horrible design of the event and because the one time I DID have the Gooch try to rob me, it effing glitched out. Hadn't had the Gooch spawn on me this year either, mostly because I do the salvage yard heists and other stuff during which the Gooch doesn't spawn. All in all it's just a pain in the a** for me lol.
I definite feel your frustration on this, though I also found it fun to mess with the truck and watch what weird stuff might happen to it. In one caseit wigged out and kepet teleporting randomly, I was laughing too hard t ocare about the gifts.

I got both sweaters following it for like 5 total minutes, (Edit- yea I managed to get it on one truck I feel bad for people who suffer for this and yes its stupid how those presents can be flying and I have even had some be showing on the map but it I believe spawns under the map or not at all, but merry Christmas everyone!)
There was a event during the PS3/Xbox360 days. Where u would have a circle appear on the map. An a timer counting down for the crate to be dropped. An by the time it had dropped, there was 6 players killing each other over it. Its what created mini wars back in the day. An they had MUCH more item's in that crate.
Those were the days. Everyone had to fight for it. This was before freemode events and business battles came along. I forgot what the shirts were when u won.
I got the Ecola one in an invite lobby with a friend. When he got off, I joined a public lobby with the truck already spawned and noticed a guy following it. I messaged him, letting him know that I wouldn’t attack him, and that we could alternate the presents. He was completely ok with it, and we did just that. Then another guy came up to it, and I messaged him the same text, and he was ok with it too. For those of you having a hassle with the event, sometimes texting the other players letting them know you’re friendly is enough to have a higher chance of earning the sweaters. It was the most wholesome experience I’ve ever had in GTAO. I completely agree that the one hour spawn time and having another player in the lobby is bullshit though. No reason why we can’t enjoy these events playing solo.
I once had a glitch or game confusion happen the other day. were the hauler had its trailer disconnected when a player pushed the truck with a nightshark to where the trailer detached, and the truck stopped and then started driving around erratically without its trailer, and the trailer began spawning all over the place up and down the road for about a mile in matter of seconds by fort Zancudo trying to re-spawn in a favorable position creating small festive explosions when it spawns each time. The Truck eventually de-spawned along with the trailer then re-spawned connected together. it was funny watching it go down.
when the truck spawned in, me and my mate instantly tried to find ways to stop it, steal it, or force it into the ocean. that was the only fun we got from the christmas truck
This reminds me of my struggles to make the Die Hard event spawn and get the WM29 pistol. Back in 2022 I wasn't around GTA during Christmas and I was pretty pissed when I lost the chance to get the gun. So basically I've waited a whole year for the event to come back, and a whole day just to make it appear in a lobby just to realize how useless it is... Lol
My friend did the same but couldn't get the event to spawn. He was frustrated by this until he got to the gun shop and realize that he could just buy it lol
I got both sweaters back to back. The few trucks I chased, me and the other 4 or 5 people that chased it, we alternated and took turns getting the gifts. Added some cool people thanks to the truck.
Surprisingly, I got these pretty quick not just twice, but 4 times for my ps5 and Xbox character, the only thing I kinda stressed about today, was just getting my homie to chill with me in a private sesh for the gooch on ps5, but I got everything I wanted, jus need to play entourage for the weapon skins
For those having problem with this i have a tip for this one. It works for pc but i dont know about the consoles. U just need to lobby hop until u find a lobby with a hauler already driving around. Than just use the solo open lobby glitch with the task manager to get disconnected from all the other players in the lobby but still being in the lobby. Now u are in a solo lobby with the hauler driving around and u just have to collect the presents without having to fight off anyone. I got my second sweater this way
The gooch was the worst for me. Second had to be the yeti. After finding all the clues and waiting in the middle of the road for the yeti to spawn like an idiot, it finally spawns, i heavy snipe him like 3 times as he rushes towards me, and right as its about to die some random loser runs me over AND the yeti, taking my kill. Thankfully i joined a new session fast enough and managed to get it to spawn again but that was bs, some people in this game have serious problems.
As a solo player, events like this are always a pain. None of my friends want to touch GTA Online's crusty-a** ever again, and it should be self-explanatory why public sessions are a no-go...
Like I said, this event needs to be placed in Invite and Crew Sessions. Damn I hate being right. Because when I got both these shirts on day one. I was killed, blown up, and got many automatic wanted levels for absolutely no reason. This years Festive Holidays in GTA Online could of been peaceful and quiet. But Noooooooo!!!..... Rockstar doesn't want that.
I’m usually in invite only and I tried getting the pistol but it never spawned even though I hopped public lobbies and waited but I got shot at while waiting so I fought back and eventually said forget the pistol
You can do this event with a friend in private. Why suffer in public lobbies? Stop making it hard for yourself.🙄 The only time you can deal with pubs is business battles. Annoying tryhards stop you but if its for a event cargo, go crazy.
I still can't believe I managed to get gooched in a full session. I did wait like 40 minutes just sitting around with cash but i still got insanely lucky
I absolutely hated this event because I kept getting just money, but I kept my sanity because of the Christmas music and the snow. Eventually, I was finally able to get both sweaters. I can say RNG is a pain in the ass! I got the Gooch outfit no problem, yet when RNG gets involved, my luck is snapped out of existence! It's like someone at Rockstar sees me wanting the sweaters and they have the 6 infinity Stones and snap their fingers to rig the rng to not work in my favor!
The fact that they make you sit and wait around just to maybe get a Gooch spawn is such BS. Was hoping they would change it this year but nope. These things needs to spawn more often.
Yeah i saw a war go on over that truck earlier. My issue was the gooch spawn, i was in a lobby for 2hrs and didn’t see it. Then a new ceo joins and it goes to him. That’s ass, but eventually i got him….. the next day
Saw someone mentioned that you can land your deluxo on the truck. I verified that it works. You can basically just park there and you automatically pick up the gifts when they are dropped. I did have to tap forward every couple of minutes as the car slowly inches towards the back of the truck. Otherwise I could get up and get a drink or walk around while the truck circled the map. (Friend lobby obviously)
I wish everything was made solo. Imagine if all businesses become solo with one vehicle especially the MC Businesses. The game would become much more fun.
No it wouldn't. That's the saddest thing I've ever heard. You might aswell cut out your time playing GTA for a job and buy shark cards with the money for more profit per hour.
I got a sweater once after like 50 boxes. Half of them didn't even work. Apocalypse death bake was useful, you can just jump on top of the truck and wait.
I had terrible, miserable luck last year. But had a definitive good year. I had a terrible, miserable year this year. But had definitive good luck getting those items. It's just life finds it's ways.
I literally waited 4 hours with one of my friends in a private session for the gooch to spawn on me, the previous 3 times gooch just go and spawn on my friend 3 times back to back
To me, it is hard to do this kind of event when you are a solo player and have no time left because you either have a job to do outside of gaming or just have something going on in your life outside of the game. right now I am working on the Gooch event and it is annoying if you are in a session that has already been Gooch or has not and on top of that you would have to wait 48 minutes just for it to spawn. to me, these event sounds cool but the process is not amazing. The only cool thing is the Yeti event and having a free snowball gun. Overall, I think these events sound cool but are not fun when doing them in a public lobby.
Managed to get lucky and get both within 2 trucks, but it was certainly not an easy process with how aggressive some players are about this, as well as the disappearing gifts.
My solution was to follow the truck in my MOC cab. Thing takes like 60+ homing rockets and doesn’t budge easily so other players weren’t to much of a concern
Or instead of the truck for the twelve days for Christmas there is a present containing a unique reward that’s hidden and you get a picture through the email like the revolver one
It took me 3 trucks to get both sweaters. Usually, about 5 people follow it. It’s fun to goof with the randoms and the truck. I agree though, it’s stupid
I, personally, had zero issues getting the sweaters, got them both in the same lobby from my first/second presents from the hauler while I was doing the new Chop Shop robberies. My issue was the players, they all kept running to it and hogging the presents, and at one point glitched the hauler out by disconnecting the trailer somehow, causing the truck to have a seizure trying to spawn back in. The Yeti event was pretty cool, though, but having to wait for an hour after getting all the clues when it wasnt night for the Yeti to spawn was a nightmare.
You know Ghillie you brought back a horrible memory. Back in BO3 days, I always WANTED the HG-40(MP-40) but of course as you said I NEVER got it. I tried for years after it came out and never got it. My other two buddies got it as their first gun from the black market crates. Me?........ nope never got it. R.I.P. RNG is terrible in games
I got one of the two sweaters after following the holidays hauler but sometimes some of the presents will be floating in the air or be glitching out when I try to pick it up
I kind of lucked out in getting both sweaters for both of my characters. Not much competition despite fairly full lobbies, sometimes the truck was already spawned when I warped in. There was one lobby where a modder was bombing the truck, keeping it from dropping anything but that was just one lobby as far as I experienced. One of my toons got the Pistol last night, but my other can't seem to trigger the event (public or otherwise). Still no Gooch sighting (last year nor this one so far). Got the snowman outfit on both characters last year. Got the Yeti outfit on both. Despite the luck with the sweaters, these last few days have reinforced why I stay out of Public Sessions and have me questioning if the rewards are worth it. Wish my friends were still playing. EDIT: And I agree the RNG sucks. Just because some of us have good luck does NOT make it all OK. EDIT2: And I fully agree it's dumb to have so much soloable (which I love) and then limited time events require another person. Absolute brainless!
Same here (UK), half the crates either disappeared or just froze (pun intended!) and after a three days chasing those awful sweaters, I gave up... Anyway, keep up the good work. 👍🏻
I was lucky to know someone who was afk'ing the LS Car Meet in a closed lobby. I went to theirs and waited for the event to spawn and followed the truck by myself. Got to Paleto Bay before I got the sweater but all the packages worked. Then shortly after got the Gooch to spawn also!
Agreed, I had similar experience getting sweaters and the gooch outfit. The weapon skins force you to play jobs I wouldn’t otherwise do but I prefer explicit requirements to randomness.
I got in my acid lab and rammed the ever living shit out of the hauler 😂 trailer flew up and disconnected from the hauler. Also had an entire county of police chasing it for some reason
I feel like Rockstar didn't fully think the Holiday Hauler through. About 90% of the time it spawned, several players would ram into it repeatedly until it glitched out and the truck drove away, leaving the trailer far behind, and no presents would drop. The other 10%, I was in a line of 2-3 players, and we all took turns getting a present. Get a present, move to the back of the line. It only got unruly a couple of times, but there was always at least one player following the trailer on a mk2 who would make short work of whoever tried to turn the peaceful little parade into a war.
Remember during the old days when there was cargo drops to get beer hats? You’d have to fight the whole lobby lol. I got 5/6 beer hats. Also, events like damage, king of the castle, etc will not let you pick up the presents
I completely agree. And you didnt even show the worst bugs when it comes to this event. For me it sometimes glitches out so much with many people around the truck, the blue icon keeps moving on the minimap but the truck itself gets stuck. Then the game fails to spawn it back in again, which just produces a lot of orange/green clouds on the map. might be some desync stuff, but for e this is unplayable
Personally I love fighting for the crates not because the rewards are good but because it gives me something to do as I don’t like grinding, my buissnesses provide me money and I always just roam around in freemode doing nothing I did get my sweaters both within the first truck I was following so I was lucky but I still follow the truck when I see if cuz I think it’s fun
I got both of my sweaters and a bunch of dumb cash and ammo, so decided to have fun. I got out my Phantom Wedge and started knocking it off the road. after a while it just freaks out and the driver will go the wrong way or crash weirdly. So fun!
My biggest problem with the holiday update was that it was just a lot of waiting. Wait for the truck. Wait for the Die Hard shootout. Wait for the Gooch. The Gooch alone took me over 4 hours to get because I think it bugged. I sat in 1 lobby for over 3 hours waiting for it to spawn and I'm pretty sure it just stopped spawning at one point. So I had to join a different lobby and wait another hour for it. The cherry on top was when I joined my friend and 5 minutes after joining the session the Gooch spawned on me again. Getting everything took me far longer than I was hoping and it was so boring.
thankfully i was in a 3 man lobby and the person that was collecting presents with me was nice enough not to shoot at me or blow me up so i let him get some when he got left behind. a rare sight in a lobby.
Pretty sure these "60min cooldown timer" and "It's all RNG based!" is just R* (and T2) trying to stretch the playtime statistics in order to say "Oh look! Everyone is enjoying our content so much that they're playing for hours!" to their shareholders, thus fool them into thinking that GTAO is still in a healthy state so that they'll happily bump up the stock prices. They're already greedier than the infamous EA in my eyes. Let's just hope for a Christmas miracle that they wont fill GTA6 and the new Online with dumb paywalls, subscriptions, days worth of cooldown timers and RNG...
I had two really good lobbies for this event. I ran up to the hauler and there was two other people driving behind it, right up until a crew of three idiots in an Insurgent pick up came in hot just to kill everyone. I killed one and everyone else jumped on the crew while I just drove away unscathed. Had one other friendly player while we drove along we swapped with each other after every package dropped to keep it even. Second session, since I didn't have the ecola sweater, no one cared about the truck and I just collected everything for 3/4 of the total route.
I was lucky to get the ecola sweater but the amount of time it took me is ridiculous I just need the sprunk sweater also a cop car is probably best to do this to get the npc cars out the way
It would be a grief fest.. there’s already an abundance of oppressors and deluxo’s blowing players up for a present with 10k.. it’s Christmas supposed to be the holiday of gifts, but the griefers can’t resist blowing every up following the truck. If there was a $100k present no one would get any presents because it would be hogged by a level 7000+ who’s mastered the oppressor
There's also a bug with the Weazel Plaza event. Once you kill all the bad guys you CAN'T LOOT THE GODDAMN PISTOL, fr. I tried the event like 6 times in a row AND I STILL DIDN'T GET THE PISTOL. I tried killing the guy with regular weapons, Oppressor MK2, fists, burning him alive, snow balls and even had to fight against other players FOR NOTHING because no one could loot the pistol.
I agree with you 100% I have been trying all damn day to get the Weazel Plazza Shootout to spawn in also. I have been trying to get the stupid Gooch to spawn in as well kind of ridiculous to spend all day in multiple multiple of sessions to walk out empty-handed.
i like it, i followed it around with a complete stranger in a nightshark killing people who try to kill others to take all the gifts for themselves, and called the ones constantly attacking the thing to ruin the event "grinches" and attacking them even after the hauler disappears. good fun, miss that jolly fellow.
The first time i found the truck it was almost about to get to Legion Square and end the event. And the only gift that dropped before despawning gave me the eCola sweater. The second time i had to follow it to paleto bay to get the Sprunk sweater. And then, i requested the MOC and show it who has the biggest di- truck, who has the biggest truck. Regardless, still a lot more fun that trying to spawn the goddamn gooch.
Truck spawns too in invite. My bf was driving and me as passenger was getting all the drops. After 4 days trying, I finally got both sweaters almost in row. We had to split in 2 cars so he could get his gifts drops. We never had glitched drops. I also think that 60min is too long waiting. Gootch spawned just today, and we play every day at least 4h. From the pov of the overall festive events, I'm sad that the snowman hunt and the weazel didn't spawn anymore for us this year, cause we already have the items from last year. So what? Why R* didn't allow us to redo these events, as they did with the pumpkins?
luckily i was in a friendly session for me to pick up the exclusive rewards. for the sweater, thank god for the for the car that i was in. the car i was in was the itali GTO stinger TT, and that car had missile lock on jammer, plus i was reaching and exceeding 180 mphs MAX topspeed, because of this, this is the number one car i will be using. since it is a must have.
great video ghillie. Straight facts with this vid , I might as well been pegged multiple times trying to get these sweaters to spawn as well as the gooch. Spent hrs and nothing still. not spawning presents are glitched all the time
Instead of developing exciting and enjoyable gameplay the players actually want to play, they once again force us fools to spend hour after hour to get a lame cosmetic. The reason they're doing this is to artificially inflate year-end engagement statistics, so the same losers who coded this garbage get their ill-earned bonuses this year. They did the exact same thing with the Gooch last year, for the exact same reason.
I agree... The RNG is stupid...i was lucky enough to join a friend that had already been in a lobby for a while so we both got 1 sweater the first time then we both got hit by the gooch not too long after, then the truck popped back up again a few minutes after that and we both got the other sweater... All in about an hour and a half, maybe 2 hours...
I’m just lucky but I kept lobby hopping and 75% of the lobbies had already spawned the HHH. 50% of the lobbies had zero people who knew what the HH was. I just followed slowly on my MK2 listening to Blue Ark. The Gooch even grabbed me once while following. 🎄
I actually got both sweaters really easily which is a rarity for me if rng is involved. I suggest to anybody that is going to follow the truck around, follow it in your m.o.c, because most of the tome you can actually get the presents that spawn and stay in the air. Plus the m.o.c will take a shit load of damage before it explodes so if you have to fight over the presents you’ll probably the last one standing.
Ima be honest I agree abt the wait but if your in a private lobby with a friend just go do something else till then, if not then js server hop, the "glitch" where you can't collect the presents is sum mechanic to prevent people from being greedy, and ontop of all this its js 2 sweaters that you can only wear for the next week or 2 till the snow goes away
