The reason why the train suddenly turns is because there is no programmed route from there. Therefore, the train looks for the next possible route and therefore turns and drives straight. From Hanky Panky to Las Venturas and the desert to SF Train Station there is no programmed train route

I feel like the rails were never coded on that side, so a small piece was added to allow for this interaction (two trains), but there was no fallback for when the player actually sticks around once the end of the rail is met, so the train just fallsback to seeking an obscure location, and then it ends up getting back on the right tracks.

Additionally, I think that those special trains aren't even real vehicles, but are just models with sounds to mimic real trains or a very stripped down version of a train, since the player was never meant to obtain them (as there is no rail coding for that side, and the train movement is scripted).

This is very similar to how the airplanes work in the game, although having a pilot, they're actually scripted and don't use the NPC's A.I. to control the vehicle, therefore making them unique.

This is one of my favorite GTA myths. Most myths in GTA games can be found while free roaming whereas the ghost train myth can only be found during a specific mission. This seems to be one of the few myths in the GTA series that can only be found during a specific mission. I wonder what would happen if you tried to kill the train driver that's transporting the reporter? Would the train continue to drive itself or would the mission fail? Or is it possible that the train driver is invincible during this mission?

Nothing. Killing the driver does nothing, the train is still going to the next station.

Maybe the reason why that happens is the pathway, it was suppose to go to a point and then stop, but with the ghost train, they forgot to put the stop point and so the AI goes to the 1st pathway order and goes the fastest way possible if is a straight line though the sky, buildings and mountains, and everything goes on a loop until it despawns, or the driver gets kill, I think this is the case because the train in the famous mission stops after a while, probably if it didn't had any stop point to close the train pathway and avoid a loop it would do the same as the ghost train, go on the rail for a while until the AI failsafe activates and send the train on a straight line to the 1st pathway point and loop the pathway. And those trains, or maybe all, may have terrain hitboxs off and in reality they are always flying onto a specific path, and the mission trains also may have got a special rule of drivable = false, instead of the other trains to avoid some kind of problem/softlock.

Hey Dark. I'm not sure if you already did a video on the Red Truck Myth. Even if you did, I don't think you mentioned the weird green stuff on the truck bed. I think it might be related to Green Goo. I'm talking about the red truck at the pier next to the abandoned airfield.

Man, there's stuff Rockstar doesn't tell us. Things we'd expect to be glitches, they put into the games on purpose (sometimes) and never expect us to figure them out. I remember seeing a video on this a decade ago, and I believed it to be a mod.

Huh, really thought that it's just gonna despawn somewhere in the doherty or the mountains. I doubt that the train moves like that because of a removed railway because it literally crosses over seas and mountains. Probably just rockstars way of saving memory. Great video as always Dark, please keep making them. I don't even know there's a flying train until now.

That train hovers towards Los Santos because Las Venturas is not unlocked at the time you are in San Fierro if a train moves towards an not unlocked city, it'll stop. But in Snail Trail mission, the ghost train seems to be scripted to keep moving and it's headed towards the not unlocked city, Las Venturas, so it has to fly over the tracks in western Red County to keep moving

The reason it does what it does is because that route is only use for the two missions that trains follow that track. Both missions only involve the San Fierro/Los Santos area, neither have you facing on-coming trains in Las Venturas, so there's no reason for the route to head all the way around the map. But, in the code, the route probably needs to be a complete loop, so Rockstar just did that straight line instead of trying to connect it to the rest of the track most likely to save time and because, ultimately, it wouldn't matter. You're not supposed to see it. So, not a myth or anything special than just whack Rockstar coding

Its great to see you back again dark! I think the train has a stop and end point that are meant to have other points between them (the other stops), and it just drives back to its spawn point instead of the next station.

Is Las Venturas still locked at this point? If so, maybe the train is just skipping the Venturas part of the track

Yes it's locked. Nice theory though, but still, even if locked, normal trains will stop before the barriers but they still go following their route. But nice theory, again.

DarkMythHunter, This will be an iconic GTA SA Easter Egg of All Time, Ghost Train. I have the solution here, this is why Ghost Trains tracking left during Snail Trail and going Straight Line into Red County resemblance since “Wrong Side of the Tracks” mission, since the beginning during First Train Chase Mission, it's on Save Memory you mentioned, but there is one or more Hidden Files that has been wrong Rail Command coding which is why it already linked to this Myth. During Main Missions, it is “Wrong Railroad Track Command Coding” Algorithm.

this has actually happened to me while driving the train. when i spawned a train with a cheat menu, it teleported me to the bridge down grove street and i got on my way. at the exact place where this ghost train got back on the tracks in the video near the highway, my train started flying directly left. i only got back on the rails at cranberry station, where the video’s train started flying. interestingly, i was driving a passenger train, and was on a 100% save game. perhaps it’s a glitch with these spawned/scripted trains.
