They made the lighting more realistic but the originals had very distinct and stylistic lighting that looks better

So hot take, Driv3r is still one of my favourite games. It was the first game that I owned on PS2, so there is some nostalgia, but I've gone back and played it as an adult and it actually holds up better than I thought it would. I understand the criticisms, but it's still one of my favourite games of that era. *That* was the game that made me feel like I was in another world, only followed a console generation later with Assassin's Creed Brotherhood. I loved the variety of cars and the the three cities, the guns, and the story was actually really interesting, being just off-standard enough to feel familiar yet unique. I also owned GTA3 and used that one to cause more chaos, but Driv3r was always the one I would go back to. I didn't actually get the reference with the Timmys before. They were hard, but not *that* hard to kill. I'm surprised it was even brought up.

Tomar's actual anger at this remaster really ties this playthrough together.

It would have looked better if they did the Valheim thing where the graphics would be exactly the same as the original, but just with a really advanced lighting engine

Really the worst part about the remaster is that it's clearly just new models over old animations, and characters still animate like they're in 2002. Their fingers are all animated as 1 piece, their mouths don't actually have lips, and they're still even low poly despite being the "remaster," and everyone moves way to quick and spastiky. It really is just a mobile game mod and screams "ai upscaled," like I'm convinced they somehow upscaled the models with ai instead of just the textures, and that's why they look so smoothed out and cartoony.

Tomar dropping facts, they made people pay $60 for this so they should've tried harder

My guess is when they turned down music, it may have messed with some sound effects.

This game is without a doubt a retexture mod and nothing else. They really charged for a texture mod that people make for skyrim and the other GTAs for free.

A complete new version of this game with new graphics and physics so it looks similar to GTA five but still the same time period would be great. Possibly even a separate story where you’re able to play a detective and the villain and then you can choose who wins at the end or an end where both live to fight each other like Batman and joker or even to join forces where you end up corrupting the cop or turning the villain into your partner and going after a greater evil.

I remember James and the Giant Peach as this movie that made me feel existentially frightened of my future. The entire movie is about a child who moves from one terrible circumstance to another in a rotting peach and it ends with the child witnessing a rhinoceros come down from the sky and kill his parents. That movie prepared me for a world in which death is inevitable and nothing you do has any meaning.

29:30 Tomar actually got it right; it's a memory saving thing. Once you hit a certain memory cap, it starts affecting which cars spawn. The reason why it starts spawning the car that you're in is because it can't unload the car that you're in from memory (since you're literally in the car), so it has to unload other cars in the pool instead. It's especially amplified with modded cars; if the memory limit exceeds to far, the game will either crash or spawn the same small number of cars. I know in GTA IV you can cause the infamous 'Taxi Glitch' by having a bunch of modded vehicles which take up so much space that it only spawns cop cars and taxi's in traffic, since the cars themselves take up too much memory.
