As per the description, our Air ram k9 was failing to turn off. The only way to stop it was by removing the battery and when removed, two of the four internal led’s remained on constantly (led’s 1 and 3).
Additionally the battery would not accept charge.
The on/off micro switch was tested satisfactory and the control signals were traced from the on/off switch to the battery pack so all power control is obviously achieved via the power pack circuit.
Please watch my video that hopefully will assist you to fix your same fault and save you a lot of money.
Cheers
John Ratcliffe

Brilliant. Worked for me. Easy fix rather than £70 for a new battery. Thanks for putting this up.

Great video. For those that have the test pad numbers only (TP3 etc)and not rst/grd. I got my AR2 battery to reset bridging TP5 and TP3 through continuity on my meter

Absolutely fantastic information. Worked a treat. I would never have suspected a battery fault and a simple reset.

Sir, you are a Wizard!! Gtech wanted £70 for a new battery after mine developed this fault (mysteriously 3 months outside of the warranty). They really weren't interested in helping or retaining a customer. This fix took me two minutes and has worked perfectly. Thanks so much.

Didn't work for me but that could be because I changed the circuit board from another battery, but I will try it next time great tip I learned something new from your video, I'd like to pass on a tip of my own for opening up the battery, after you remove the screws lift the lid then place a plastic spudger across the top sticking out both sides tight up up to the lid where it's still connected to the body then close the lid down so it pivots on the tool this will pop the clips and release the lid without damage

Glad it helped. First of all apologies for my boring mundane narration, One question was how did I know how to do this? The answer is I’m an electronics engineer, The tiny reset button often found on some electronic units for example a internet router, the reset buttons are simply doing the exact same thing that we have just done here. Keep fixing things and save a fortune. John 👍

Hi John, had to wait for some spade end connectors so I could test my theory of jumping a dead battery with a fully charged one, connected them together and left them for 10 minutes, but sadly no joy... I'm very wary of electric, had 3 240 blasts in my lifetime so far, and don't want another, and no matter how I try, I can't get my head round a voltmeter, even though I have 3 GCE A levels, and 9 GCE O levels and can speak 3 other languages. So my quest has come to an end for now, but on another note, I've just converted 2 Dyson v7 hoovers to a Makita 18 volt battery, and what a difference. Before the conversion it would just about hoover the stairs on full power before dying, but now it does the stairs, landing, hallway AND the living room, and still had a bit of puff left. Such an easy conversion, 3 screws out, new cradle slides in and the battery slides on and off you go. £ 11 for the converter, and I got 2x5ma Makita batteries for £ 29 free delivery. It's the way forward. Stay safe, John Kearns 👍👌

Hi John, don’t despair that the attempted battery bump start failed, it could be because of a number of reasons why it didn’t work. It could be a genuine duff battery cell, an open circuit linkage or even a duff control board. Also don’t put yourself down regarding your inability to use a multi meter, your brains reside in other interests, I myself have never mastered my own English language let alone a different one. Well done with the Dyson modification. 👍

@@MrJohnTherat thanks for the confidence boost, it was just an experiment, I'll just bin it and I may even buy another Dyson v7 that needs a new battery and do the conversion on it and see if I get any takers, but I'm not really a seller, I'd more than likely just give it to someone who needs one, fixing it is the challenge... have you ever taken the cyclone apart from a Dyson v7 or 6? It's unbelievable how much stuff is inside, crud, but you can't do that if it's still under warranty it'll make it void, but if it's injested some moisture you might as well cos all the dust(skin)turns hard and chokes the cyclone making it useless. Be warned, took me a couple of hours just to clean every level, dust mask and gloves compulsory if you value your lungs...

Hi to get the lid off just lever lid up and forward it will unclipped easily with a click, replacement is reversed clipping the lugs under front cavity then backwards. The reset didn't work for me but I thought I'd make a point on lid removing. Cheers.

Hi John, I've got a battery that's not showing any lights, and I've just seen someone else's video where they jump start a battery back into charge mode by using a good battery and connecting the + and - terminals with some wire and trickle charging it enough to accept the charge from the charger. I zoomed in on the battery and found the pos neg terminals, so I might give it a go, but I'm not friendly with electric, would you recommend me trying this?

Hello John, I have never come across this failure condition and am therefore reluctant to say with any certainty that what you suggest will work or is even (covering my back) safe to do so? I can only state that Lithium batteries are very dangerous and over charging and short circuit conditions should always be avoided. I hasten to add that if it were me I would use my faithful Tenergy TB6B charger/Discharger rather than placing another fully charged battery in parallel. It is quite possible that by placing a known good battery in parallel with a totally flat one might possibly bring it back to life. The only caveat that I would add is that the power board and charge controller should in my opinion cut off the drive output before the battery reaches a critical low level voltage and it is therefore conceivable that the processor control and charge PCB may be faulty. I am extremely interested, so please let me know how you get on if you decide to attempt this recovery procedure. Best of luck John.

@@MrJohnTherat I'm going to have a go later on, got the idea from an American guy on RU-vid yesterday who brought back to life an 18650 battery after doing that for about 30 seconds, and a Makita 21 volt battery using 2 pairs of scissors to bridge the terminals, that took a couple of minutes, just putting enough into the dead battery so that the charger recognised the battery. 👍

Literally anything that will conduct, eg a pair of tweezers, a short length of electrical wire but be careful not to short the clock or power test pads to ground (gnd). 👍
