Cool level, especially when going into it blind. It loses a lot of its appeal once you figure it out, though. Like, finding out what's up with the first few zones and the C-Foam storage and that blood door was cool the first time, but once you know you can just clear part of the room and do the blood door normally to lower the alarm, it's more mundane. Same for the monster error alarm thing, dual scan, etc. It's also a long mission with lots of cruft inbetween the cool events, which makes it a bit exhausting.
We first attempted this mission duo over a month ago, doing the class 9 in SEC. It's doable, but we never quite got past it. We finished the scan one time, but then Idiotnet went down and I ended up dying to a nightmare shooter bullet that did some crazy homing curves. I swear those things follow like orbital mechanics, not only can they easily turn 90 degrees, they can literally turn 180 degrees or swirl multiple times around your head before going for another player.
Anyway, after revisiting the level a couple days ago we decided to do the class 7 and just deal with the fog. Class 9 is definitely tough but doable duo without kiting, but I don't think I care to go back to do a class 9 duo run. It's really fun to shoot, but it's preceded by like 30-40 min of boring tedium. Kinda like R4E1 in reverse.
At first I ran Hel Rifle, but we were struggling to consistently kill the megamother and dual scan alarm, so I swapped to HCP (almost double DPS on megamother). Those two events became much easier, but it did break our extract strat.
Our original extract strat was basically as we did here, except Idiotnet doesn't enter the extract zone - he remains outside to spawnblock (so enemies route the long way) and kills the nightmares, while I do extract scan and provide long-range hel rifle support. After swapping to HCP, we switch to just duo holding the extract scan, since I don't have the range to be useful from that far away (despite HCP having surprising 1-shot range on nightmares - 18m) and it's too many nightmares for Idiotnet to solo hold with this loadout.
For the dual scan, I thought maybe we could outsmart it by having 1 person standing 1 room away, pushing spawns back so that they have to route a long way. That one person could solo defend a nice chokepoint above the fog line, while the other does the T-scan. Once that's finished, only flyers spawn, so we'd rendezvous and finish the scan. But it seems the spawn locations are hardcoded - nightmares spawn in the middle room and strikers in the adjacent room, so that didn't work.
For fog repellers, I timed a practice run and counted that we need around 6 repellers. 2 for the megamother, 1 for when the T-scan dips in the front, and 3 for the big red scan. Any others are bonus/leeway. You could maybe cut that number down by one, by having one person hold the turbine at the end when finishing the big red scan (as we do here). Megamother fights usually took us 90s (130s with hel rifle), T-scan takes ~92s, big red scan takes 310s solo or 128s duo (total 162s if 1 player stands on big red, and other completes T-scan before running to big red).
Sadly this run has a super sloppy and terrible megamother fight. Probably like the worst a megamother fight has gone outside of the times where we just wiped. Here's a clip of a better fight • [GTFO] [R8D2 spoilers]...

Oh and apparently the rooms are randomized here. We were previously aware that the C-Foam storage room would randomly have lights on or off, but we noticed this time that the actual room layout was different. Later, in the error alarm area, the big room was different than usual, and in the final post-megamother zone, the geometry was different once again. It's weird because in like 10+ runs, both duo and LFG, I've never seen the rooms like that, and then all of a sudden there's just a new layout. This alt layout in the post-megamother zone was more favorable, we got a sick sniper sentry spot out of it.
Surprisingly, the error alarm is easier after doing SEC. The tank zone is unlocked early, so you don't have to clear it during the error. There also aren't nightmare strikers during the later parts of the error alarm. I wonder if it's some lore thing. I guess by the end of SEC you've probably wiped out the local nightmare striker population, so it checks out.
