My wife's cousin is selling her father's car collection at the same auction. There are about 60 cars in the collection from Morristown, TN. It's the John F. "Johnny" McCrary Jr. Collection. I had a slick that would lose air sitting. I was told to coat the inside of the tire with dish soap. I did it, and it stopped losing air.

I could listen to that exhaust chop all day long! Good luck at the auction.

I sold my 04 GTO SAP 3 years ago after owning it and modifying it for 12 years. It ran a best of 10:69 124mph with a 1.51 60’ with the original but built 4L60 and the stock 3:42 gears. Best dyno was 741hp and 696tq. Absolutely stock untouched Black on Black body and interior. Pedders suspension, Wilwood brakes. Magnuson TVS1900, Texas Speed Bad Boy II 243 heads, Ken Dutwyler cam and spring, Lunati rotating mass including 1200hp I beam rods, Weisco flat top pistons making 10.4:1CR. Used methanol as an intake air cooler that kept the IAC’s under 100 degrees so I could run 28 degrees of total timing on the LS1. 3200 stall Converter. Oddly enough, that car just came back into my ownership just recently. Didn’t really want it back as I’ve moved on to other things, but he accepted 1/3 of what I sold it for due to it destroying yet another transmission! A 4L80 no less! I’m not sure what I’m going to do with it. Possibly put a stock drivetrain in it and keep the motor for a classic build.

Funny story I was working in a Ford dealership 1n 1970 when Ford's first started coming in with disc brake jobs. No one had worked on them so as the "new kid" I got put on the first set that came in. I saw how easy they were so I complained and whined knowing that if I told how much I liked them I wouldn't get any more of that gravy. I got "stuck" with every one that came in for a long time until I was on vacation and someone else had to do one. My secret was out and after that I got all the drum brake jobs again.

Clay, I love the fact that the proceeds go to helping out the training of the next generation of auto mechanics. This past Saturday @ MK2 May Day in Lebanon, NJ I met a young man that said that he want to become a automotive technician and he has a plan! As always thanks for taking us along!!!

The most likely cause is moisture, high humidity will get in the dry brake shoe during sit time, then upon first use it will lock-up untill you use them enough to dry out the shoes. Common problem in the South.

Dang it Clay Im looking for a GTO. I wish I knew about it. Im looking at one currently that has some salt zone damage started on it. Its going for more than its worth for sure but you should be able to clear 50k with all the amenities. I'll be watching for it.

I hope CRC buys it for a cool Quarter or better yet a Half a Mill-ican.

Bondo Betty is a great name! Tires are a great option for everything. The motorhome generator oil probably doesn’t need it yet, but I’ve been in the Rv industry for forty years and if there’s a way you kill an Rv generator it’s by running them on broke oil. So change away. Lawn mowers on premium would be something I’d do, but decided to buy an electric lawn mower, and it’s worked well so far. Drum brakes=short shoe forward.

I hate drums anymore. When i came into the shop as a kid i spent so much time learning how to build them. Nowadays i have to take a pick myself or leave 1 side alone and just tear apart 1 side and use the other for reference. Most everything these days are 4 wheel disk.

Good on you for donating the proceeds to an automotive tech school. I brought a 1966 small journal 327 to my go to machinist of 35 years. He had a new employee fresh out of a tech school, that had just graduated. The work this young man did was amazing. We need more people like him in the business!!

I do have one serious question for you though. You drove Dently to get gas. I know you abide by the law as most racers will attest on doing. Wink wink. So...... As a professional racer for over 20 years and one of the fastest guys on the planet, when some goof ball youngster pulls up at a traffic light and wants to challenge the old guy in the hot rod, (I'm older than you), I know you won't race him because of the law, but, on a scale of 1 to 10, just how hard is it for someone who goes 330+ mph to resist blowing his doors off, especially when you realize they don't know who you are? Do you have to hold yourself back a little or a Lot? I always have wondered how the top of the food chain feels when a little guppy comes up nibbling at your fins! Lol. If you answer this thank you. I appreciate it! You take good care of yourself, oh and you wouldn't be a true race or a car guy if you never got your hands dirty at least once in a while.
