First time I witnessed Rapa Nui dancing up close or watch any was from the FestPac in Hawaii last month. I completely fell in love with these people. They are beautiful and they are very very proud of their culture, island and dancing. I have watched about a hundred Rapa Nui shows on RU-vid since June 10th and 11th I feel like I'm expert in how they dance and can distinguish their style easily now. Hawaii was like the Rapa Nui coming out party with their huge contingent and beautiful performances. Hawaii is the most perfect place for FestPac ❤️❤️❤️❤️
@@antonz9614 At some stage in the past, there was major warfare over dwindling resources, to the point that the survivors lived in poverty grubbing whatever existence they could. Then came the European slavers from Chile and the like.
@@davidtapp3950 The "Slavers" were from Perú, actually when Chile came the Island it was already in a miserable state and the Rapa Nui authorities accepted to become part of Chile
A Part of my Family Originally Migrated to Rapa Nui to Hawaii LOOONG ago. Some of our males bare the first name Raphael and the last three letters of our last name is Nui Rapha Nui. Our roots forever
Vejo semelhança com o povo indígena do Brasil.

@@AmoBolivia66 I don't understand why people are so upset that a South American country like Chile owns Rapa Nui, just like the United States of Hawaii, as well as Chile is a country with the most arid desert in the world and with the proximity to the territory The coldest in the world, as is Antarctica, where there is even a villa, called Villa Las Estrellas. Is it so hard for you to believe it? or racism blinds them to see all that? As long as you're not in Europe or North America, you don't deserve it or what? I recently did my ancestry dna. Test and have many close relatives from Rapa Nui, as well as aotearoa, Tahiti, samoa, Tonga, Cook Islands etc most I knew I was kanaka maoli. It shows how gifted our people were at navigating the vast oceans from Rapa Nui, Hawaii and Aotearoa!
From 🇧🇷
respect for cultures is always something you should have like this show for example. In Brazil, men wear swimwear and women wear tiny thongs on the beaches and the whole world criticizes.

I wish you would put together some documentary type videos of all races and competitions you have on the island. And explain exactly what’s going on . Like the bird man competition and the banana tree race and all the other ones.
They are chileans and polynesians, much people are mixed with continental chileans (called 'tire people') and tahitians, don't be fooled by some resentful separatist comments, many islanders feel chileans and have even formed a family with continentals and dances like tamuré and atarita are represented in shows during national holydays throghout the country in some "ramadas".
#Austronesian united... #guam #rapanui and the entire #austronesians from the pacific, southeast asia, and madagascar island, east africa... *WE ARE AUSTRONESIAN* Love, Philippines 🇵🇭♥️
I am from Cook Islands and Samoa - the movements are quite different to all the other Polynesian dancing is used to. Music and language is similar but routine isn’t as graceful
Beauty is in the beholder's eye. If it's graceful to the islanders whose culture it is, then that is all that matters......let everyone else have the grace to accept that diversity.

Fall of civilisations podcast tells real story what happened to these islanders. They were taken away as slaves almost whole population, only 36 made it back.
For those who have doubts, they are chileans and polynesians, much people are mixed with continental chileans (called 'tire people') and tahitians, continental chileans loves Rapa Nui Island and Rapanui culture, in 'national holidays' rapanui dances like tamuré and atarita are part of the themes of that great national celebration with cueca, guaracha and other popular traditional music and cumbias (one of the most popular rythms in hispanic america, you will see in some point of time a Rapanui dances show in one that another "ramadas" (place of party and traditional food stalls, it's also done in Rapa Nui), and in most schools of the country, in music or dance classes, some students perform Rapanui dances at some point. Don't be fooled by some resentful separatist comments, many islanders feel chileans and have even formed a family with continentals, natives have right to schoolarship and there are special laws for the island.
They are very exotic and beautiful people. They have the Pacific Islander tradition but they look westernized. Bless Rapa Nui and keep preserving your culture. You are such a lovely people! Fight for your independence because you are who you are- unique peopl
