@Myth Stories - Animated Legends There are 3 factors that led to Guan Yu's demise. 1. Insulting an Eastern Wu envoy who proposed a marriage between one of Sun Quan's son and Guan Yu's daughter. 2. Occupying an Eastern Wu food storage without permission. 3. Hubris.
I think it's wonderful that the Chinese war god is not just a god of violence and bloodshed, but also of loyalty, benevolence, and protection. He's a god of righteous warfare, who fights only when he has too and values peace and justice above mindless carnage.
He is the equivalent of the archetypical Christian knight that’s romanticized in medieval Europe: loyal to his liege, benevolent, protects the weak, upholding peace and justice, despised dishonesty and treason, etc.
Alexander Christopher Indeed, truly a man/god of chivalry. I’ve got Guan Yu printed masks for the pandemic, Chi Tu (Red hare), his and Lü Bu’s horse, on them too. So sweet.
Guan Yu's death is not that simple. At that time, he faced and suppressed Wei’s best defensive general. That general once had the title of bravery of heaven and man. Wei was very scared when he knew it. They sent all the famous generals they could send to form an all-star lineup to fight against. Guan Yu, Cao Cao, the ruler of the Wei state, even wanted to avoid Guan Yu by moving the capital. When Guan Yu fought against Wei for Shu, Wu sent a famous general named Lu Meng to attack Guan Yu’s base. Wu and Shu were allies, so Guan Yu did not put too many soldiers to defend Wu. After Wu State attacked, two people from Guan Yu base betrayed Guan Yu. They opened the city gate and allowed Wu State's army to enter the city. After Lv Meng led the army into Guan Yu's base, he asked local civilians to write to their relatives who were fighting in the front. When Guan Yu's soldiers learned that the rear was occupied and received a letter from their family members, they collapsed and no longer had the will to fight. Then Guan Yu was defeated all the way and prepared to retreat. The monarch of Wu State sent a general to ambush Guan Yu's retreat, and then beheaded Guan Yu.
Guan Yu beside being the deity of Loyalty he is also the Patron saint of Tofu makers as he started out as a Tofu Maker, this is probably how he got his muscle
A bit of info the channel forgot to mention: Guan Yu was no stranger to poverty and hard life. Prior to meeting Liu Bei, Guan Yu was a merchant, selling mung beans and tofu.
He's Righteous, He's Loyal, He's Fierce, He's brave, GuanYu was the best man that Asia proudces... A man that became the God, A man that became a Legend.... The Great GuanYu, The God of War...
Many many years ago "Dynasty Warriors" sparked my intrigue in Chinese history. The general & Lu Bu are every bit as formidable in real life as there were in the game let me assure you!! #HallOfFameGame
Kratos should vs Sunwukong,Both are fictional mythological characters,The god of war in Chinese mythology,Guanyu is a real historical hero who was only good at fighting.More famous for his symbol of justice.
Guan Yu is not just worshiped in Asia, but the whole world. Having a family that comes from Norway and Poland, we have a great respect, honor, and love for one such as Guan Yu. Warrior cultures respect others from the same background and thinking. He didn’t fight for money or land ownership, but for his people, culture, and homeland. Many people can understand and respect someone who wants to end the chaos around them.
Not only is he the god of war and in countless video games and a tactical genius but he has probably the greatest beard of all time literally no US President, Basketball player, Barbarian, old western cowboy, etc has a better beard than Guan Yu
Very scholarly video on Guan Yu. Truly excellent. I have only one small complaint. At 2:40 there's a mistake in the animation. Chinese books are placed horizontally, not vertically. And printed books only began to appear in the 9th Century AD, long after Guan Yu's time. :)
Good evening Art of war, the truth, vision, deity, the truth of loyalty, honestly , braveness, Strenght, develop, justice means truth must be pretend, positive thinking is 100 percent positive and all the activities of growth, development and do result, and all positive And mindfullness but truth, it is not concept to call to kindness but the concept of the way of the truth, in mindfullness
My senior classmate, while as a sophomore in highschool told me his older sister did a research of how Guan Yu and Chi You Di are literally the same person. Same era, a too many things to explain.
Cool and informative video! Thank u!🙂👍🏾. Reminded me of so many Chinese Martial Arts movies I've seen from Jet Li, Jackie Chan, Donnie Yen, Michelle Yeoh, etc. 👍🏾🙂👍🏾💕
Guan Yu rode a horse into an army of tens of thousands of people and beheaded their chief general. The other generals could not stop Guan Yu's powerful force. Isn't it cool? This is a real historical record. The reason why Guan Yu is admired is not only because of his strength, but also because Guan Yu has redefined the standard of "loyalty". Owning Guan Yu is equivalent to owning an SSS-level entourage card, with super attack power, super cool appearance, and loyalty will never drop. Who doesn't like it? The rulers of China all hope to get this SSS card called "Guan Yu". The emperors like Guan Yu, and they hope that everyone in the world will learn like Guan Yu. The act of sealing is more like an act of increasing the chance of cards in the card pool?
Fun fact: the three kingdom era actually begins at autumn of 220 AD after Cao Pi crowned himself, but Guan Yu died in the first season of that year, making him a historically pre-three kingdom or late-East Han figure along with other famous warlords like Cao Cao, Lv Bu and Yuan Shao, none of them lived in the age of three kingdoms
@@chance4513the three kingdoms are about 3 usurper (Shu, Wei, Wu) fighting against each other to unify china after the fall of Han dynasty. Romance of the three kingdoms(ROTK) is novel based on history, most of the book (around 70%) are exaggarated and romanticize. This is also the reason why this time period of chinese history is well known. It is common for china to split in to smaller state and fight against each other, those time period just dont have novel to popularise it like ROTK.
LEGENDARY. Never watched the actual story of his timeline, I remember though, I remember the stories in the game, Cao Cao, the Yellow Turban Rebellion! The game took the experience to a whole other level when they introduced "Empires 5". And above all else the traditional music I listened to as a child.. No words. 🥰👏🙏
Guan Yu as a human: Historically, his military record wasn’t that perfect. His most notable victories were killing Yan Liang and defeating Yu Jin; though the latter victory was possible because of an unexpected flood. He also lost to Li Tong in 209 when he was ordered to block Cao Ren’s retreat from Zhou Yu. Then, he lost to Yue Jin and Wen Ping at Nanyang in 210. He lost Guiyang, Lingling and Changsha to Lü Meng in 215. Las, he lost to Xu Huang at Fan Castle while losing the whole of Jing Province to Lü Meng 219. Most of the exploits that made him famous as God of War comes from the Romance of the Three Kingdoms by Luo Guanzhong and his famous loyalty to Liu Bei. Cao Cao who rules 1 of the 3 kingdoms admired and respected him a lot. Nonetheless his story is greatly exagerrated by the author. As for God Guan Yu, he is a god of war in Taoism and a Bodhisattva in Buddhism From the notion of Buddhahood, the Nirvana state which according to Buddhist teachers is transcendence of all concepts and boundaries and ascension to a state of absolute boundlessness existing outside of all of existence, all concepts and dimensions that make one essentially Omnipotent,Omnipresent, and Omniscient.
he a human and cannot become god, those who worship him is worship idol, there is one and only god which is jesus, in the past i used to worship idol and i found of the truth through jesus and become a chrsitain
As a prestigious Dynasty Warriors fan since the beginning, lover of Asian culture and history, first degree black belt in Northern Shaolin EagleClaw Kung Fu, and firm supporter of Guan Yu, I humbly thank you for this video. I squealed with delight so much when I saw this video 😊 my younger brother who also reached his black belt in the same style of Kung Fu, has his own Guan Dao. I even unknowingly created a loyal ancient Chinese warrior/character and gave him the surname of "Yun" because I love Zhao Yun, or Zilong. And "Chang" I actually took from an online list of female Chinese baby names, which was actually "ChangChang" before I just shortened it to Chang. Then I come to find out due to the Romance of the Three Kingdoms series, and from my younger brother, who is a history buff on the Three Kingdoms era, that "Yun Chang" is actually Guan Yu's full name. Interestingly enough, my character specializes in nunchaku, archery, and other mace based weapons like tonfas. He serves Feng Tau, who is a Liu Bei like character of my younger brother's. Yun Chang is eternally loyal to Feng Tau, and Feng Tau's sworn brother as well as his brother in law. Yun Shi, also my younger brother's character, is the wife of Feng Tau and older sister of Yun Chang. Our storyline takes place in 7Th century China however.
@@MythStoriesAnimatedLegends No, thank you for the educational and treat of a video 😊 I actually didn't know that the Guan Dao wasn't around until centuries after Guan Yu's time. And of course I subscribed, I love TomoNews and now I have a new channel to love 😁
Guan Ping is the image of a white-faced general. This picture is on the wall of our house, standing next to Guan Yu. There is also another named Zhou Cang. Of course, this is a portrait of a god, and Guan Yu is just below the middle level. Guan Yu was closer to ordinary people than to gods.
