Great review as usual. Have to agree with you on all the points made. Had mine around three weeks now and more than happy with it. Actually during that time I got more compliments on it than any other what I’ve worn. Like you the strap had to go so tried it on a nato and it really works well. It looks great and completely transforms the watch. Got mine from elsewhere (shh) for a bargain price of £33 shipped. All in all consider this - a really cracking looking and well made automatic watch for silly money makes it a must buy imho. Also available with black face by the way. Woof to Bond.
Thank you my friend. I'm glad that you're enjoying the watch. Some of the complications are a bit silly but the watch does look great. I received quite a few compliments on mine as well. I enjoy wearing it and I don't think it would be leaving my collection anytime soon. All the best, Oleg and Bond (woof).
Not a bad piece for the price. I really like the blue hands but, I'm a sucker for blue dials and hands. You do a great job keeping the camera focused on the watch and being unbiased.
I noticed when you were changing the day of the week with the pusher, the 24 hour hand was also moving. Because of that, the 24hr no longer synchs with the current time. Also noticed the 6 o'clock subdial ,which is supposedly a 12hr indicator, does not coincide with the current time as well.
I just received this in the mail for $42 and it's great! I am upgrading the band. As I don't want to drop $2300 on the Longines, I think this is a keeper in a style I will only wear occasionally. Oh also note worthy the original Chrono has a 21mm lug with which is a fail and this Guanqin is an upgrade at 20mm in my view far better to replace and find without going mad, which might happen on a 21mm replacement!
Agree with you 100%, Mike. I have 21mm or 19mm lug width. It's a nightmare finding the right strap. I'm glad you're enjoying your Guanqin:) All the best, Oleg.
Very good review. You may also want to check out the AESOP 9950G which is of a similar (Longines) style but is quartz. Has the same kind of strap and claims to be sapphire crystal. The big difference is that it has a REAL moon phase. I have one and it’s okay. I got it for sale for about $30 Canadian a few months ago.
That watch has been on my list for a while. Thank you for the review. I picked up a Moscow Classic Aeronavigator at a pawn shop a week ago. Have you heard of these? Powered by a Vostok 2416b movement.
Chris I've had it my wish list for a while. I don't think you will be disappointed. Read some of the comments (some people bought the same watch). What a great pawn shop find. I've heard of the watch but don't have any first hand experience with them. How do you like it?
That was a very nice, balanced review, particularly considering you were given the watch for free. Good to see that you didn't sugar coat the negatives out of a sense of obligation. Lots of respect for that. Maybe I missed it, but did you note if this watch has a hacking movement or not? I have to admit, although it sure is a good looking piece those sub-dial functions made me laugh - especially the continuous 30-minute counter up top. I'm liking your reviews more and more. Keep up the great work! (You too, Bond.)
Thank you, my friend. Appreciate your kind words. I always try to be as impartial as possible and give you guys the information that I would want to hear if I were thinking about buying this watch. Sorry, I forgot to mention that the movement is not hacking, but it does have a manual wind. The 30 minute counter is silly. And so are the 2 hands for the days of the week. All the best, Oleg.
Awesome review as always. Just goes to show you can get a decent watch with a sapphire crystal for under $100. Shame on you seiko lol. I'm wearing the guanqin (nomos) watch with the power reserve. Not taken it off since I've had. I love it and I own plenty of seikos but this guanqin is my favorite by far. Looking forward to your next vid 😊
Thank you Jonathan. For the price it's hard to beat these Chinese specials. I have a review of the Guanqin (Nomos) soon:) spoiler... I like that watch as well. All the best, Oleg.
I bought one as well...nice construction, but the movement died within 1 day. So without any information on the movement quality, I am shying away from buying any Chinese watch (other than StarKing) that doesn't use a reputable Japanese movement. Glad to hear you got one that is working fine.
I am a big fan of butterfly clasp, I saw it at first time on Vostok K-34 Komandirskie series :) Aaaaand my watches I am using, have this clasp or NATO strap :)
Cool video. I have a question. I am soon going to turn 60 years old. I was thinking about buying a nice watch for myself. As a birthday present to myself. lol. Can you give me any advice on which watch to buy. One that will last for many years to come. Thank you.
I think you should take a look at this one: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-oJbBdB1Z3RM.html Buy a leather strap so you can wear it as a dress watch/casual watch, y also wear it on the original bracelet as a sports watch. Reliable movement (easy to service and only needs servicing every 10 years), great finishes and overall great value for money. Best part it's way under your budget but it looks like a million bucks.
It is not really dead close to the real thing. The original watch is stunning, and it is not very expensive so it is worth investing a little more money to get a watch with a functional moon phase, a matching GMT mechanism, and above all, a watch that will accompany you for a lifetime with precision and style.
Alot of these watches have a seagull movement but I'm unsure on this one tbh. Still a great time piece for the price. I owned a very similar Chinese watch which was great but I can't for the life of me remember the name of the brand? I sold it on ebay in the end, as my collection was getting a bit too big for me, plus I'd only worn it for around 2 months so it was in great condition and managed to get £10.00 more than what I initially paid for it, which is never a bad thing.
Thanks for the review. Was looking for a true Moon Phase watch so AM/PM indicator isn't going to do that, unfortunately. Nice watch :-) Well done with the deal with gearbest.
Thank you Benny. Let me know if you find some affordable options for a true moonphase automatic watches. I'm looking to add one into my collection as well. All the best, Oleg.
Don't you agree the seconds hand should be longer? I see little point in the subsecond marks when the seconds hand is too short to even tell which tick it's on.
Probably an Asian 7751 clone. This honestly looks like a Longines Rep Watch with different branding. Somthing the faker factory’s in China are know for doing too.
first of all bond is the cutest boy ever!!! i have a gsd and he's nowhere as clam as bond. these chinese watches, i hate to say it are catching on fast with the swiss, if these guys keep up this way they might give the swiss a run for their money not any time soon but not long either. i liked both the watches but still not decided on whether to go for them or not. great vid as always.
Thank you, my friend. I completely agree a few more years and these Chinese watches are going to reach unbeatable levels of value for money. Once they figure out how to do more "high end" finishes on the cases for cheap it's going to change the industry again. Great time to be a watch enthusiast and a collector. All the best, Oleg. P.S. Bond is usually super calm (except playtime).
That's a great deception to me. I'm totally in love with the Guangin watches, I've bought a simple quartz watch on AliExpress some weeks ago and was tinking to buy an automatic watch in the future. I still think they're beautiful watches but the functions made me a bit sad =(. Great video as always. Congrats Oleg.
Hi Oleg. Just updating: I received my Guanqin GQ12006 today, after 1 month (it's a miracle hahahaha). It seems to be a good watch. Very nice and well made. Do you know it? Cheers!
You lost me at “not a true moon phase.” I’d prefer this watch without the (useless) complications. I recon if I ever need a wristwatch to remind me of the current month and year, my funds would be better off going to caregivers who could also change my diaper and give me a sponge bath from time to time. Is Bond a French bulldog? I cannot get over how adorable he is!
I’m not saying sun/moon is better or worse than moon phase. Just pointing it out, in case someone was hopping to get a true moonphase. Some of the complications on this watch are a bit silly lol All the bees, Oleg.
24Hours At A Time Ok, Oleg, I’ll say it then: a real moon phase complication is a fascinating innovation in watchmaking, and represents a true pinnacle in horological history. A sun/moon dial is stupid and therefore not as good. Love your videos! (:
Thanks Austin! 100% agree; a real moon phase is a difficult complication to do and as you pointed out represents "a true pinnacle in horological history". The sun/moon is just for looks.
24Hours At A Time Exactly! It’s like a watch that is trying very hard to look like a chronograph but doesn’t function as such. Or, God forbid, one of those ridiculous Sean Jean “faux automatic” things (I shan’t call it a watch). I’d sooner wear a cheap Chinese replica submariner.
Nevermore chinese watches. i had Lige 6826 with the same movement like this shit and it stopped working after less then one year. Only Cadisen or Guanqin watches with Seiko Nh36 movement.
Wow, I would not touch it. Why? Because Chinese are just copying and use other intellectual property. Even the font looks like the original. You should be ashamed presenting a watch like this on youtube... Sorry man
