Same, it was on the plateau and I saw this thing so naturally… I hit it. I hear this and I start to panic as the guardian starts to charge up its laser. I died so many times to try to kill it cuz I thought it would drop in saline stuff. Lmao
I killed the first Guardian on the great plateu using a bow and hiding behind a wall. I was never really scared of them, they feel frustrating to fight instead of challenging. A powerful laser, super fast movement, high HP, they're just tanks. They don't dodge and have nothing to parry, the only real counter is to deflect their beam. They're just an uninteresting enemy to face
That's one HECK of an aggro range for something that I don't think I want to ever catch up to me. If what you say were real-- I WOULD RUN. Over land, over sea, and over my own mental shortcomings. That is how far I would go to get away from it
those aren't chords, a chord is where 3 or more notes play at the same time and they also have to be notes that are pretty close to eachother also, there are no chords in this song, so this video is pointless
Guardians are piss easy to beat, but imagine if you couldn't -parry the laser beam - use Daruk Protection and get an automatic parry -use Urbosa Fury, well because its Urbosa's Fury -and if the guardian didn't get stunned for a year if you cut its legs If you remove all of this, I think it would be an insane mini boss worthy of his theme
Yeah, the only way to stun it would be to hit its eye, and also maybe it could move around a lot more to avoid your arrow shots as it charges its laser, or maybe the guardian could even get a second phase at 700 HP that makes it much more deadly!
Ok but here me out. Keep the stun on legs but make thr stun less and if you break all legs it instantly shoots a shot at link that doesn't miss. Maybe keep parrying for the laser beam but make it weaker so instead of a 3 shot it's like a 10-15 shot or something.
I wish those puny Zonai constructs weren't that tiny. I haven't played BOTW yet, but i could already tell the guardians were more fun to kill than constructs.
Pro Tip: To parry the guardian laser, Press A with the shield as soon as you see the blue light appear, you’ll probably hear a “bing” or “beep” sound too
It's slightly after that sound, if you press A at the same time it's too early. If you're really far away from the guardian you have to delay it quite a bit.
@@justsomeguy892 your right, if you end up wanting to actually parry the guardian, it will be much easier if you try and run past the lazers until you get close enough where it backs away from you, then stay still and parry with A as soon as you see the blue lazer around its eye, works everytime for me
THANK YOU. Sounds much better this way. Now it feels like fighting an actual robot. Very mechanical repetition, a menacing repetition that's kinda devoide of soul. THAT is what i think of when thinking of this theme.
Correction: Beginning of the first playthrough vs late first playthrough and all subsequent playthrough. Although the latter can also be: "Oh wait, I banned shields! How TF am I supposed to deal with this???"
Your minding your business in Breath of the Wild. You decided to go straight towards the castle but not enter the town ruins. Along your way you see something in the distance that seems to be moving very weirdly. You think nothing of it and continue exploring. As you find a tower, you head towards it. Getting closer you realize you might need to go do more shrines. As you start to look for any shrine that glows nearby you find one. But then your joy is soon turned to fright as the music changes and you look behind you. 0:00
*The Guardian starts to aim.* Oh, I have a red dot on me.. Eh, I still have some time to lock onto the guardian and.. *The dot encloses* MAYDAY, MAYDAY!!
Absolutely not. You run towards it (so it's within targeting reach) and get out your shield. Then you sit there in gamer stance, holding ZL and resting your right thumb on the A button... until you start cussing at the Chuchu that hit you from behind right before you would've had to parry.
It's anxiety-inducing to this day. Although it's a bit of a mix of anxiety and frustration. "There better not be a stupid blue blob behind me right now!"
8 year old me: see guardian* Guardain: exist* 8 year old me: doesn't finish the game for 2 year ( no joke) just to replay it 2 years later to finally beat it.
I didn’t know the chorus existed until I listened to the original theme, that’s how much I kill guardians (still suffering trying to get level 3 guardian armor)
Lengthy tutorial ahead. *TL.DR.:* Get some safety nets, then learn the parry timing. Once you feel safe with that, learn handling Skywatchers. *Step 1:* Get arrows. A lot of them. Alternatively (or additionally if you prefer), get some Ancient Arrows to speed up the next 2 steps. *Step 2:* Shoot a Guardian in the eye. Wait for it to lock onto you again, then shoot it again. Repeat until the Guardian is dead. (This should already make the theme last long enough for you to hear the chords, unless you use an Ancient Arrow, in which case a hit to the eye will be a one-shot.) *Step 3:* Repeat step 2 until you have a good amount of Giant Ancient Cores. (Decayed Guardians are useless here.) *Step 4:* Sell all the Ancient Screws, Ancient Shafts and regular Ancient Cores you have obtained (you can also sell other materials you picked up along the way, you'll need A LOT of rupees), but make sure you keep the Gears, Springs and Giant Cores. *Step 5:* Travel to the far northeast of Hyrule. There will be a building called Akkala Ancient Lab. You can also obtain a side quest that leads you there by talking to Purah in Hateno. *Step 6:* Ignite the blue flame in front of the lab, just like you did in Hateno, except this time it will be less easy because there's monsters on the path. *Step 7:* Obtain an Ancient Shield. This can reflect Guardian beams, thus letting you practice more safely. Get as many as you can afford. *Step 8:* Use one of the back entrances of Hyrule Castle and make your way (through the inside area, ideally, as the outside has tons of Guardians) to the Prison area. *Step 9:* Defeat the Stalnox you find there and open the chest that appears to get the Hylian Shield. It has an insane amount of durability and can survive 3-ish Guardian lasers, thus also letting you practice more safely. If you already had the Hylian Shield and it broke, replace this step and the previous one with visiting Granté (you need to have completed the side quests "Hylian Homeowner" and "From the Ground Up"). *Step 10:* Complete the Goron main quest for Daruk's Protection (if you haven't yet). *Step 11:* Grab a few Fairies, and/or complete the Zora main quest for Mipha's Grace (if you haven't yet). *Step 12:* Find a Guardian Stalker (stay away from Decayed Guardians, Turrets and especially Skywatchers) and make sure you can lock onto it before it aggroes on you. Also make sure that you have your "practice shield" equipped. *Step 13:* While it's aiming at you, lock onto it while NOT holding a 2-handed weapon or spear (you must have your shield out). Try to parry the laser beam with the A button. Don't be afraid of failing the parry - even after popping all 3 Daruk's Protection charges, parrying early will at most pop a Fairy/Mipha's Grace, and parrying late will at most damage your shield. The "practice shields" I mentioned will never break in just one failed parry, but they might break after a few failed attempts. That's why you have multiple. Repeat these 2 steps for a while, restocking on Fairies and Ancient Shields as needed. *Step 14:* Once you feel comfortable with the timing, you can start removing some of the safety nets. Turn off Daruk's Protection and try confronting a Guardian while having no Fairies, or with a regular shield. (To this day, I'm not sure whether the timing gets tighter for weaker shields or not.) You can also try confronting a Decayed Guardian or Turret, but bear in mind that the timing changes depending on the distance (Stalkers will always attempt to move such that they end up at a specific distance, so this will very rarely be an issue with them). Turrets will also make you notice that an overly steep vertical angle cannot be parried. *Step 15:* Once you're confident in your abilities to outparry a Stalker, a Decayed Guardian and a Turret, you can try a Skywatcher. However, you'll quickly notice they have one major issue: They float above you, meaning that in usual encounter scenarios, they will ALWAYS be too steep to parry. To counter this, climb on an elevated surface (ideally at their flight height) and shoot them with an arrow. This will aggro them at a doable angle. Proceed as before, except you should expect some good parries to miss them because of their swaying. But at this point, that merely prolongs the fight. *Congratulations! You can now consistently handle all Overworld Guardian types!* And what you learned also applies against Blights, higher-level Scouts and even Calamity Ganon, as their larger beam attacks (that they use at the end of their respective fights, and in Calamity Ganon's case also occasionally in between) are basically plain old Guardian lasers. Learning the parry timing for the smaller beam shots from Scouts and Windblight, as well as for Waterblight's spear throw and Fireblight's fireball, should be fairly easy at this point as well, and the rest of the Ancient/Ganon enemy handling is just standard rune-waving and Flurry Rushing business.
