Yeah, really makes you wonder why they got rid of peters mask and rocket boots, especially when that became a pivotal part of the prison escape in the first movie
NGL the part with Drax being saved from guard by the other, enchanted by Mantis guard seriously works much better then what happened in the movie! Even the joke on the end fits well with Draxes character.
@@mattsully2238 i disagree, actually. I don't think it's poor writing, I just think the movie focused and spent more time demonstrating what it felt like it needed too
3:32 - 3:38, I believe James Gunn confirmed that the audience has connected with Groot throughout the MCU series well enough to understand him, which was also his explanation on how alternate timeline Gamora understood him by the end of GOTG 3.
Isn't the shot also from outside the window like the audience wasn't actually in the room with the guardians at that moment so Groot didn't use his language
4:16 I love this origin of Groot, where instead of being the last Flora Colossus or having the World Pod, the hope of the Flora Colossi, fused to his body, this Groot was just vibing alone in the woods and chose to go on wild frolicking misadventures with Rocket for lack of anything better to do.
@@pop-culturecinephile8144 Oh wow, a _Zack Snyder_ villain is bland and doesn't have emotions, who'd have guessed? I mean I know it' wasn't Synder's movie but they were _kinda_ limited by what came before. Also by the fact that Ezra Miller is the main character....
@@starkillersneed Exactly how I felt about JJ Trek. But hey, he only cared about his 25% different residuals and using it as his demo reel for Star Wars.
My heart dropped when Nebula said Rocket endured more torture than her while Baby Rocket was screaming in pain. I hate animals getting hurt, I was going to fking breakdown if they showed his friends getting dissected.
@@cheteyaliyanage8721 Eagle? no, but in one universe he is a cat name Captain Americat (Steven Mouser) from Earth-8311 (Same universe with Spider-Ham).
Among the many confused thoughts I had about hearing "the dog days are over" in a Guardians movie, I had the same one about Cosmo not being keen on it. How was that overlooked?
i thought the same and figured she may have misheard it as 'dark days' or something? or maybe she knows she's a good dog but thinks that a dogs life is extra hard so she's like 'yeah apt song'?
2:22 I love that even the villains couldn't stand for the High Evolutionary's atrocities. Even Ego himself booed at him and yet he killed all his kids except Peter, since he was the only one carrying the Celestial gene. I'm also surprised there wasn't a single joke about James Gunn leaving Marvel to manage the DCU
It’s actually explained that Peter forgot his rocket boots because he was in a hurry. However, his mask was destroyed in the Guardians 2. Despite it coming back in Infinity War/Endgame, which were under different directors. Although Rocket could’ve made Peter a new helmet. Even have it look more comic accurate.
@@GhostBoyJamesthey should have destroyed the Time Machine after cap went back in time. Iron man was basically the man reason why it worked. So that how you hand wave it away.
@@roxtechsye, but once it was proven that time travel is in fact possible, they'll surely be more people trying to achieve it, especially with the amount of genius minds mcu has and will have
THANK YOU! Thank YOU! That “fell in love with Drax” thing really felt like a Chekov’s gun that never went off. Very frustrating waiting for it to be relevant during the battle scene and nothing happening. Kind of makes me wonder if there was a deleted scene, actually
Well done this was everything I hoped it would be... Especially the alien that had a crush on Drax. The TMNT addition hit me in all the feels especially when The High Evolutionary created his version of Bebop & Rocksteady 👏🦾
@@DetectiveLance He had one in Infinity War and Endgame. There was no good reason for him to not have it in GOTG 3 or even a spare one for that matter.
@@freedomchaser9664 Which was honestly a good move, given that Gunn's original vision for the Trilogy, was that he would loose them in GotG2. Then the IW writters decided to screw with the continuity, without giving any explanation, and basically reverted him back to his GotG1 self for the lenght of IW and Endgame.
The reason Star-Lord doesn’t use his equipment (helmet and boots) is because they were destroyed in the battle at the end of end game. Well they actually got destroyed at the end of the second Guardians film but the Russo brothers forgot and gave them to him in infinity war and end game. So in order to keep the symbolism of him not having them Gunn said in an interview even if he hadn’t destroyed them he would have had Peter forget to grab them because he was still drunk while packing.
That part just seems weird. Like, is there any symbolic reason for him to not want create another pair of boots and mask? If anything, it seems like it would make him extra certain to have them on him as Gamora would have died back in Guardians 1 if he didn't have them, and losing them in Guardians 2 resulted in Yondu's death. I don't remember any kind of symbolism connected to losing the mask, so it just seems like a bad creative decision to create a strained excuse for why Quill doesn't have them.
What, are they unique boss-drop loot items? It's just some tech. Why couldn't he just make or buy new versions in the days-to-years since the battle? I can maybe buy forgetting them but not not replacing something that important for a spacefarer.
@@shadowanderson2004 well sure, but Yondu died because those tools were destroyed... Seems like the type of thing you'd want to replace to avoid a similar tragedy
@@jamesdemarsh4101Villains are never logical otherwise they would not be villains. They would hate animal abuse because they would consider animals more precious then humans.
@@dewolf123So let me get this straight.. Villains are logical about animal abuse being unacceptable, but villains are not logical about human abuse being unacceptable and they have you, the boy who wanted to be super sidekick, to justify it for us? Abuse is unacceptable period to the actual logical rest of us! On a scientific side note: Evolution lol.. an unviable origin option or explanation that I debunked between 7th and 8th grade 1980s. And is now admittedly unviable and impossible by the science community because all fossils {that have been labeled fossils} just appear as they are.. fully formed without any transitions throughout the record. Therefore NOT millions and billions of years old and yes that includes the geologic layers and formations as well. It is my stance that these fossils are not from fake made up dinosaur stories, but from beings and creatures from a much more recent cataclysm or 3 that have not been allowed to be described by the finders because of the gatekeepers. Read the Smithsonian motto or "mission statement", it's not even a secret that is exactly why they exist. Research MudFloods Remember Tartaria Awaken from historical amnesia.
@@snaketooth0943 No I did not say that as my opinion. I said VILLAINS are the ones who would consider such opinions. Because most of them murder innocent humans and have no respect for their well-being and lives and constantly want to impose their selfish ideologies on them they a course would further add insult to injury by considering animal life more valuable to them then humans. A lot of villains in movies noticeably have pets actually so that settles that point.
That orgocorp scene should have definitely been in the movie. Like I'm pretty sure it's there in one of the versions of the script. Or else James Gunn would be smacking himself watching this video for not thinking of it. Also the captain birdica, so creative. One of the best videos in a while.
You know what really grinded my gears during the movie? Yep that scene! Exactly the one with Peter dying in space. You really think a dude whose character is literally pictured with the face mask and jetpacks, doesn't have them on him.
3:26 I AM GROOT Not This Again IM NOT LETTING YOU WIN IM BATMAN I AM GROOT IM BATMAN I LOVE YOU GUYS I LOVE YOU TOO Wait HE'S BEEN TALKING THIS WHOLE TIME
When the 1st Guardians movie came out I had little expectations when I went to see it since they were the Marvel characters I knew the least about prior to seeing them on the big screen. I ended up loving the 1st film, the 2nd film, & the 3rd film so much that to me it's the overall best movie trilogy Marvel has made. I'd say my only complaint with this film is similar with Darren Cross becoming M.O.D.O.K. then trying to redeem himself, Adam Warlock's development/redemption felt rushed in that he was set up as this big threat, then he was comic relief, then confused about what he wanted after his mom died, & then he saves Star Lord & joined the Guardians.
Yeah, I went in to GotGv.1 with *VERY* low expectations and was greatly impressed as well. And like you said, the main disappointment in this one was them making Martha---I mean, Adam Warlock--comic relief. I'm thinking they had a big story in mind with him but then it got scrapped.
There's this thing called sorce material. Failing that There's a million RU-vid video about and Wikipedia. The story has also been told in video games and cartoons all of which again are on RU-vid
Yeah especially since he escaped from the High Evolutionary because Groot didn’t really have an arc especially since the villains in this trilogy have a connection like Ronan killed Drax’s family, Ego was Starlord’s dad, Thanos because he took Gamora and Nebula in and the High Evolutionary is Rockets creator
That red alien ravanger was Kruggar, in the comics he’s a sorcerer supreme from another dimension. So he’s powerful, which is shown here with his teleportation and not needing a sling ring.
I love how most of these were mostly jokes, because there’s not that much wrong with this movie Also, it’s so accurate that all the other villains would hate the high evolutionary too
I love how this movie was so good that you literally can't make fun of plotholes here. Also, I love that other villains, including the likes of Ronan, Palpatine, and Voldemort couldn't stand the High Evolutionary.
I wonder how they would react to Danny Devito’s Penguin, Jack Horner from Puss in Boots the last wish, the Spot from Across the spider Verse and Ezra Miller in the flash movie
