A precisation: Rafales were purchased originally at F3-R level, that is in itself a VERY MODERN software configuration BUT they were upgraded to F4.1 even before handout. France was forced instead by Dassault to sign a binding contract forcing them acquire NEW planes andto no install it on legacy ones, in order to pay developmental costs. So French air force had to find in an hurry customers for the older ones. greece got older F2 and F£ and payed for upgrade to F3-R, Croatia acquired the latest ones already in such a configuration and as soon as the F-4.1 became available acuired it (as they have not any binding clause forbidding them to do so). Now, France is still now testing its new acquiring planes, so that Croatia is the first nation to have OPERATIVE F4.1!

3 Gripen = 16500 kg of armement !! 2 Rafale = 19000 kg of armement !!

Croatia bought wisely, a great plane at a decent price. The U.S. makes terrific planes, but damn expensive.
