Only ever raised his prices by 1p - compare that to what goes on today, with money grasping rampant wherever you look.

I joined the Micks in 1975. We had an ex Coldstreamer with a van called Polly Perks. He used to come round the ranges. He was a godsend for us. But a tad experienced QS

Good old Ted ... Proud of him.... R.I.P. I was in the R.A.F. on basic training at R.A.F. Padgate in Oct 1954, The N.A.A.F.I. a Cup of Tea was 3 pence, however in the Salvation Army( Salvos/Sally Ann) it was 3 pence for a Mug the same size as our issued Mug, so the N.A.A.F.I. complained and finally got the Sally Ann to charge the same but for the same size Cup as the N.A.A.F.I. which the Sally Ann did .... But the Sally Ann gave you a Token when you bought a Cuppa so when you had finished your first Cup you went back with your Cup and Token and got another Cup for Free.

Remember polly' perks . Mostly on the rangers. He was well appreciated but expensive . He always seemed to appear on your £10 per week pay day.
