Loved the unique perspective of the volcano eruption as I have not seen that in any of the other videos I've watched of Guatemala (and I've watched a LOT) in preparation of a trip later this year. Thanks for sharing! Looks like you guys had a great time!
Gracias por visitar my country Guatemala .. we allow you to be like us, experience us , come to Guatemala if u want to have an adventure .. go to Mexico to sit on the beach
This was an AWESOME video: great footage, great editing; great music, and wonderful drone images! Hopefully, you will have more adventures to share one day, as you have not uploaded a video in over a year.
Thank you so much! That means so much. I am working on a Costa Rica video but I recently bought a house and am getting married soon so I haven’t had much time to edit lately. After Costa Rica I have an Iceland and Switzerland trip that I already filmed. So much more to come. Thank you for watching.
Thank you for sharing this video, i like it. I am planning a trip to Guatemala last week of October and would appreciate it if u tell me about the drone camera registration? Was it easy process? I have DJI Mavic pro2 , did u do the registration at the airport or online? Thx
I didn’t not have to register it because I did not use the drone for commercial use. If you’re just a hobbyist and you are not doing it to make money, you don’t need to register. Hope that helps.
Christopher the view from your drone was so amazing neer the top of the volcano, what mode is it?. I saw the eruptions and put it in full screen and was like a 3D like been there so great, thank you for your experience.
We will retire in 5 months, move to Mexico and take several years to slow travel south to Argentina, stopping and living in different cities along the way, looking for our retirement home. Both Antigua and Lake Atitlan are on our list. Would you tell your parents to retire there ? Thx !
I love this! If it were up to me, I would prefer Antigua over lake atitlan. Lake Atitlan is a nice place to visit but I couldn’t see myself living there due to the boat transportation systems. Antigua is a pretty built up city with lots of things to do and while we were there there was an event going on in the city center. But that’s just my personal preference. Lake atitlan is more quiet and peaceful though so it’s up to your personal preference. Enjoy your trip! Sounds amazing!!
Thank you for all this!! Really perfect video!! Can you tell me if all this was expensive? The hotels and foods…? And did you fell save during all your journey? Want also to go there on march next year to see the volcano …
It was not very expensive at all! The most expensive place was probably Antigua. But the volcano hike was very affordable for the experience. I get very safe during my travels here. Have fun at the volcano in March! I recommend working out/training before going to make the hike easier.
This is probably my favorite Guatemala vlog. Really good stuff! Besides the drone what other camera gear did you use ? Thinking about getting a GoPro. Thank you!
Amazing video and the drone footage of the volcano was just incredible ! What drone did you use ? And any recommendations on how to fly the drone safely?
The drone is a DJI Mavic air 2. There are much newer ones but I still find the footage out of it to be really good. If you’re new to drones, just take it outside and practice it a lot before going somewhere where you want to get good footage. The DJI drone also has good quick shot options where it will lock onto a subject and do cool pans around it. Hope this helps. Let me know if you have anymore questions
Fantastic video and music. Like a movie. BTW how and what Drone did you use for those aerial shots. Do you need to get a approval before flying t? I thought of going there and maybe take a drone and if I can find a cheap one. Any suggestions?
Do you have to have a pretty fancy drone to send it that far away from you? Don't they work via your phone signal, which means you would need cellular data to be available? Thank you.
DJI drone used for this. They connect to your phone only to display live camera view but the signal is done from the controller to the drone. I had my phone on airplane mode while using the drone. No need for cellular connection
This was such a sick video! The drone shots were to die for. Thank you so much for all the tips. I do have a question about your journey back to Guatemala City to catch the flight back home from lake Atitlan. Did you leave the day before your flight or the day of? I have a 8 PM flight so hoping to leave lake Atitlan by 8 AM but not sure if 12 hours will be enough with Guatemala traffic?
Thank you for the nice comment!! Yeah you should have plenty of time to make that flight. Traffic was really bad for us by the city in our way to the airport back home but still was only an hour longer at most. We did stay an extra day in Antigua because we needed to get a COVID test back when that was required.
Hey Chris! I just found you on youtube and watch your videos on Belize and the Guatemala one! Really great story telling and edition man! Congrats! I have so many questions to ask you. But I guess Ill start w the most important one for me. What equipment do you use to record and photograph during your traveling? I would really appreciate if you could share w me. I really liked the music you choose for your videos too! I hope you get to do more traveling to Guatemala since it is impossible to see everything it has to offer in just one trip. I am from Guatemala and love my country and know some good places + recommendations of people and establishments you could use as reference If that some how helps planning your trips and traveling. I admire you and what your doing with your channel, I guess there is so many of us who would love to travel as much as you are doing. Cheers and buena onda! Hope I get to hear from you!
Thank you so much Carlos! That means a lot! For these videos you have seen it has been actually mostly iPhone 11 Pro. I do use a gopro 8 as well but the more I travel and record, the more I use the iPhone for its convenience (always in my pocket). The drone shots are all done with a DJI Mavic air 2. I really appreciate the offer to provide recommendations of where to go when I travel in Guatemala again. I hope to go back soon and when I do I’ll reach out to you. I have a Costa Rica video I am working on now, then an Iceland series, then switcherland. I am way behind in editing. Haha thanks again
@@waful77 Hi! Thank you so much for your answer! I just found this notification lost in my email... haha! Oh man, you got yourself busy there! Ok, no worries! Thanks again! God bless!
We hired a private driver for that and I honestly cannot remember. However there are shuttles that go back and forth for quite cheap if you are looking for least expensive option.
awesome video. Thanks for sharing mate. Acatenango hike is on my list. Remind me which month did you go? Also did you hire a driver to travel from a place to another?
Nice. Are you able to share contact details of the driver or any information would be useful for me? I’m thinking to go to Guatemala in April or May this year. :)😊
We were in Antigua in December. I enjoyed watching the videos of your hike up the volcano. Unfortunately the tours don't want 60+. I just got my GF a DJI mini 2. Website says, "small but mighty!" From the model description mini probably would not fare so well in the wind and heat of an active volcano!
Wow Chris! amazing drone footage of Fuego and Pacaya! the best drone footage I've seen of Fuego and while it is erupting! Im planning to do this in April and drone it with my Mavic Air. How windy did it seem when you launched from basecamp as I know sometimes its can get really windy there (trying to determine how to know when its safe enough to fly the drone cause I dont want to lose them lol) and do you recall around how many minutes it took to fly over to Fuego to get those shots? Also do you think its too windy at the summit to launch too? Thanks!
@@waful77 oh awesome, that is very helpful to know it isnt too far of a flight over. If only I had the newer drones with those long flight times haha. Not sure if the Avata would make it back in time from basecamp...so the ridge hike (which i dont really want to do cause its so much more hard hiking and not sure how my knees will hold up all trip) would be needed if I wanted up close shots.
