@@benderunit44 lot's of factors, but I think the main reason is that your driving your imaginary car below 3K RPM majority of the time, meanwhile F1 cars are running at 15K RPM max limit of the engine for about 80% - 90% during the race and qualifying.

I like the podcast with Guenther. It's like pundit explaining to novice. It's giving an idiots guide to F1 and I love it. The way he explained the underweight was very clear and it makes me think Mercedes are running GR car very close to limit, I wonder if LH car has larger safety margin to the minimum.
Another point Guenther made is that nearly all the cars are underweight, then they add the necessary ballast. I believe George's side of the garage simply forget to adjust the ballast when they changed the floor on Friday night: Lewis' side didn't. Mercedes made no appeal, and the tires/one-stop thing is a bit of a red herring.
@@RabidJohn I think GR car is running very close to the minimum and the team did not cater for 1 stop tyre wear in the weight calculations, knowing this the team should have denied GR request for a one stop. I think they didn't appeal because they knew they were wrong with the weight and additionally not draining all the fuel in the car was a cheating attempt to make weight.

Ngl I agree with Gunther that I never realized in the case of Checo being released from RB he could be a great Alpine driver, I think his recent failure is more due to the pressure.
I feel like he's shooting himself on the foot and time is running out for him. He should be negotiating with Alpine or I reckon he'll be out of a seat for 2025.
@@billypilgrim1 I think his recent failures are more indicative of how bad the car has become. Max was always able to hustle a dog of a car. Checo is struggling more comparatively. Mark Weber and Seb often had fun trying to setup the RB, it can be a diva. They are now having some visible pace issues.
I love the enthusiasm, but there's a lot of stupid apart from Gunther!! George was DQ'd because the car failed the current regulation - end of story apart from understanding why. Lando started 4th not 3rd, before falling back. The start or restarts are key points of any race because the cars are closer than at any other point and there's less room for error

The issue is that people are idiots. Lewis has been saying since the w13 that Mercedes has been going in the wrong direction and that lead to a crappy car. It’s was tyres plank and fuel. They took 2.8 ltr of fuel rather than the usual, that’s 1.8 kg, no cool down lap to pick up at least a kilo of marbles and going flat through Eau Rouge would have worn the plank more than RedBull who insisted on lifting to help stop compression between plank and track as known from 2022. 👀💯👍🏼

The main problem in F1 has always been that Hamilton because everyone wants to see him retire but the guy doesn't want to give up and recently has started that hammer time business again
I am so confident that next year Luis will go to Ferrari and reinvigorate the team to become a winning team also he knows how to develop a car he has worked extensively on this Ground Effect era to get the wheelbarrow of Mercedes into a race winning car, he can definitely do it with Ferrari as well
Wrong conversation guys, it is not George that made the error, the error was made in the garage and the factory. George was trying to win on strategy as a driver, and that bit worked. His engineer did not factor this in. As for Audi attracting good F1 staff, at least in Switzerland, a majority of people speak english, compare this with italy where few speak english. This will be a real factor in someone uprooting their family to join Ferrari versus joining Audi. Family schooling and integration is real for these talented people. Lets not discount Bottas, he is very good if the equipment is good enough, he proved that with his time at Mercedes.
This is really shady because Fernando did 32 laps (2 laps less then George) and made the weigh just fine. Getting extra rubber from The cool down lap gets you an extra .5 kilograms at most. The only person to blame is George and his engineer because they prepare and anticipate these types of situations. Don't be fooled by this nonsense. I call the bluff
I dream of a season where the top 4 teams are in top form every weekend and we have a 4 way shootout for the championship. Of course none of the teams want that lol but this is the sport we come to watch
I think if Ferrari join the party it’ll be the best formula 1 competition in my 48 years. Usually someone dominates and a team are close and steal the odd race win. Each race we don’t know now who will win each race. Friday at Spa, Benz were nowhere and they got the 1-2 despite the DSQ of George which as I’ve stated was tyre weight, no marbles due to no slow down lap, extra wear on the plank from going flat through Eau Rouge and Radion and they took 2.8 Larson of fuel that an extra 1.8 over normal which itself was1.8 its, tyres were 1.5 and plank who knows but some way lighter than say the one on Max’s car cause since 2022 he doesn’t go flat through those because of the plank wear and risk of a DSQ. Formula 1 is as good as it gets except that Lando and Charles missed their chances and now it’s ‘King George’ vs ‘Little Oscar’ from now and with Lewis and Max but in 2025 it’s just the 2 of them to battle for the Championship and the odd steal from others but not 6-7 different winners, only 4 or 5 maximum. 👀💯👍🏼. Let’s enjoy this mega ‘Era’ of f1 we are witnessing right now. And everyone thought it was gonna be a repeat of 2023. Hahaha. That’s never been done to that level of excellence and won’t be done again in my lifetime, not to that degree. Who wins 19 from 23 races or 24 from 29 including Sprints. 10 in a row. It wasn’t just the tyres the plank was also lower than normal and after the race even with pick up they can remove the pick up so wether or not they collected pick up doesn’t matter he was under weight

The win didn’t belong to GR in the first place. He got that so-called 'win' purely because of the one-stop strategy, which was finally proved to be wrong.
You would wear it down to the canvas and it would explode then you'd be on the rims which is about the most dangerous point. You can limp back to the pits on the rims, but you damage the suspension in the process, and possibly wear the strike plate off.

Weighing "without" the tire would be easy - albeit more without the tire they drove on rather than no tire. Just have a set of tires for weighing and the FIA puts them on. So then you know the weight of everyone car minus the weigh in tires.
Agree with matt and brian here . Logic says just take off the tires and weigh. Reminds me when the NBA used to measure height with shoes. Some guys had an extra inch depending on the shoe they wore that day. 6'11 and 7 footer is a big difference. Finally logic set in and now they measure without shoes.
I think Audi and Aline should take a young driver. They both have an experienced driver and bottas being the best option isn’t inspiring. It would be a great opportunity to steal one of the quick young drivers that would undoubtedly break ties with Mercedes Ferrari and redbull programs to take their shot on the f1 grid.
