Could tell the maple neck from the Rosewood but was really surprised how deep the Japan bass was. The Japan bass sound more like what i imagine a P bass to sound like. I have a Vintera maple neck P bass and it leans more towards the US bass in tone. Nice simple review that has opened my eyes to the differences in Fender P basses. Didn't expect such a huge difference in tone.

bass b sounds like what a true precision should be.

As a luthier I can tell you that the main difference is that the one made in Japan has a rosewood fingerboard, this takes away treble and rounds the middle, on the other hand, the maple fingerboard gives it more attack and maintains the treble, they both sound very good. of tastes

Agree, that’s why I prefer a jazz with rosewood and a precision with maple

I preferred the Japanese P with that warm low end and decent mid... the USA P was more articulate in its tone overall. IMHO

Good luck telling the difference in sound with a full band. It’s not gonna happen.

Videos like these are nice in a way to keep biased people from saying “The USA sounds better to me….” all the time.

Waiting for my Japanese made Fender Aerodyne Jazz Bass with PJ config and jazz style neck. Sexy bass with great tones and looks to match.

Ppl be trippin about the woods when the US one is wearing a Dimarzio model P. For shame. Japanese one sounds better with a more even, warm response. All in the pups.

Capacitors, pots and necks maybye even pickups differ. Then what to expect? Therefore no any comparison is optimal. Just select your gear base on Your bass.

The tone circuits are totally different, not really a US/Japan comparison but a circuit comparison.
