Can you guess these Hollow Knight songs ? Music by Christopher Larkin. Pictures and music from Hollow Knight, a video game developed and published by Team Cherry.
I agree I failed to get a few cause I never was at that place or heard the sound even tho I was in white palace the saw blades were a key sound that I only heard so I didn't know it was white palace
You know the music is good when I can depict which song it is in LESS THAN SECOND. Christopher Larkin truly outdid himself with every single track, and thanks for making this video, I've been wanting one like this for a long time.
I may have not played Hollow Knight in a while, but the fact the songs are SO iconic that you can tell where they are from roughly just from 15 seconds is a testimony to how amazing Chris Larkin is at being able to create such a distinct sounding soundtrack, all while riffing off the same basic musical idea. It's amazing.
I have like 80 hours and guessed more. I think the more you play, the more you forget about the early game ones or ones that you didn't get in a long time or didn't get to do often, like dream battles and white defender
The trauma hits different, once you spend 3 hours in the pale kings Chamber of pain and sawblades. Luckily it only took me 1 hour to do it, but im still traumatised everytime i hear the noise of sawblades.
Fun fact is that christopher larkin primarily used string instruments but instead of playing them normally plucked them to create harsh stinger notes to replicate the pure fear and spider like personality of nosk :D
Yes, you just don't hear some themes, depending on how a lot of circumstances, for example, if I didn't know the difference between dung defender and hive knight and I didn't know I never remember them, I wouldn't have done all correct... When I fight them I think only at destroying them, and the fights don't last enough long for me to memorize the OST (that for me are difficult to remember by themselves)
Same. I just assumed it was a Godhome track since I didn't recognize it, so I dismissed it. Then the title card came up. THEN the part I recognize played.
@@Kazam100 also for the memes after I captured Nosk, I put it in a small shot cup of orange juice and froze it. Now I have a Frosty Nosk. What do I do with it?
The thing I love about this game is that the music is so memorable and good that I can be confident that damn near everyone hear knows every single or almost every single one of these, if not listens to them often.
Play me a Hollow Knight song and I can tell it's from Hollow Knight but having not played the game in past 4 years I could only place half of these correctly to zones but actual name of the songs? No dice
Funny how just today (the day the video was release) I was looking on youtube a "guess the hollow knight song" challenge, I just can't believe it was uploaded just when I needed it, thanks
Thank you for your very nice comment. I thought there was no guess the song for Hollow Knight, so I did it thinking that other people like me would appreciate ^^
Elevators Don't laugh at a boss because it might seek revenge in the afterlife. *Iih, the acid, THE ACID!" DOMA DOMAAA The magic corner "Ahh, finally!" Bzzzap! Fuck you primal aspids. The Shaw must go on! The tricky part of the flower quest "Could this get any worse?!" (Spoiler: yes) Good things come in threes! Back then when the exploration wasn't deadly. Dance with the devil. "I'm in danger." The Adventure begins. Don't you ever take the floor for granted. Doma domaaa! Stress. Yes, you fucked up. Wassup bro! When your mom wakes you up by suddenly opening the shutters. "This is one of those depressing games isn't it?" Pain. Let the Shaw begin! A place I'll never reach. Feeling confident. Lore "Ah! I'll kill you, evil creature!"- "Wait whhat's happening?"-"Why is the screen so blurry?" "Am I dead?" A voice to cry suffering. Mine. The Crystal Song by Downplay "Why am I doing this? Why do I hate myself?" I broke the flower. The part where he kills you. Fuck you soul twisters. Fucking Uumuu. "Little did they know this game would become their obsession" Hatred, hatred and hatred.
perfect score, though, the deepnest one isn't a song, rather it's an ambiance. It really should be a song since it feels like a song, a really, really creepy one
I loved this honestly. As someone who has listened to the HK OST several times in the past, it was fun just listening to the first few notes and knowing the song. I got 4 wrong, only because I haven't heard those songs much (and it's late at night). I got hive knight, white lady, prince Zote's theme, and surprisingly forgotten crossroads wrong, but still I liked this little challenge
i got forgotten crossroads wrong as well 😭 also confused the queen's gardens with greenpath, but they're fairly similar so i feel like that's acceptable.
I forgot the forgotten crossroads too. I also missed dream battle. I would like to know if dream battle is used for eternal ordeal because if it is then I got it right.
Wait this is actually interesting - I said abyss for broken vessel before the first notes hit. I never noticed it had a short bass section with abyss ambience at the start of it! That's cool actually. A bit of a teaser for the next area 👀👀
Did pretty good. Only ever messed up when alternative themes played like “Sisters of Battle” and “Mantis Lords” cause I generally see those as the same
Sisters of battle managed to take me by surprise because I immediately recognized the orchestral as belonging to godhome so I said it was a generic godhome track. The original I recognised instantly tho lol. It is pleasing to my ears that you can instantly tell from the unified colour profile, which soundtracks are meant to play in godhome.
With over 300 hours in this game, I can say that I absolutely bombed this thing with a whopping 11 points. Let this be a lesson that hollow knight has one of the greatest atmospheres that without the noises of enemies, obstacles, etc. you can't figure out the soundtracks from one another, even with 300+ hours. You need the enemies, obstacles, etc. because it blends with the soundtrack. That's why it's so good
You can hear the end of the scream that plays in the song as the peice starts, so its actually just from sealed vessel. Same as when sealed vessel was the answer, they actually started from the start of the boss fight, whereas the song starts with the black egg temple music.
Didn't keep track of the score, but I got thhe majority. The few mistakes I had were: Forgot that Hornet had a Godhome variation of her theme: Daughter of Hallownest Didn't know the name for the resting spot theme: Reflection Somehow forgot that Resting Grounds existed Couldn't remember the name of Pale Court
I find it kind of interesting how I either get these within two seconds and know them immediately _particularly proud that I know Broken Vessel from the ambient noise at the beginning before the song even really starts_ or I have absolutely no idea what it is at all
This makes me wanna play Hollow knight again so much .... (Btw, 12:00 is my alarm clock ... it gives a really strange feeling of having to wake up ...)
The most obvious bits of the sonngs aren't even in it which really increases the difficulty. Being a csual hollow knight player, I could only get those extremely obvious ones.
Hive Knight, The Pale Court, White Defender and Pure Vessel almost tricked me... They are so optional in the game The Pale court and Pure Vessel in particular are very difficult to listen to... Due to the fact that path of pain is so difficult (and P4 too)
I have been listening to the soundtrack sinck I was like 10 so it was pretty easy- still fun though. Its also nice when you do it with your friends and beat them :))
i got the sound tracks on steam and i use to listen to all the sound tracks while i worked on school stuff, i ALMOST got each and every name of every song in this video this was very fun, awesome idea and video. really challenges you to see how much of a hollow knight fan you are ):D
I got 8 wrong, and those were all either mixing up two very similar themes(like white/dung and hornet 1/2) and some that play in very specific places like white lady or top of the white palace. Also depends what you count. I didn't know the NAME of every theme but I did know where almost all of them played.
