The last one broke my heart 😔. Not just because a possibly 70,000 year old language went extinct but also because the way she said 'This place is not good for living.' One can only imagine what kind of circumstances led to such presumably folktale lyric being passed onto to her.

Aka-Bo is quite documented and hopefully, future Great Andamanese who'll identify as Bo would learn the language from the records. Unfortunately, there are less than a hundred Great Andamanese today compared to their numbers (2,000-6,600) from last century.

@@rvat2003the 10 old tribal subgroups of Great Adamanese don’t exist anymore, most of younger ones are just Great Andamanese now. Language wise the last speaker of Cari language died in 2021, so the language family is extinct too. A few senior elders speak a mixed Jeru-based creole while the youth speaks Hindi creole now. So I guess its the end for the tribe.

12 out of 15 Correct 1 turned out correct out of 2 choices Had in my mind. 1. Tulu ✅ (I could guess right because I stay in Mumbai and interacted with lot of Shetty poeple) 2. Sylheti ✅ (Got right after stressing lot on options and also I knew Bangla and it was sounding different on song) 3. Garhwali ✅ (Got right because I can somehow differentiate all North Indian Languages) 4. Maithili ✅ (Got right because my 2 friends were from Bihar who spoke Maithili and it somehow sounded similar in the song which my friends spoke) 5. Konkani ✅ (Got right obviously because it's my mother tongue) 6. Nagamese ✅ (I got right because of stressing and analyzing option and also in Goa few Northeast Indians came who were from Nagaland and also played football with them) 7. Axomiya ✅ (Because I recently started listening to Assamese song as well as my friends wife speak Axomiya and also sing Assamese songs) 8. Gondi ✅ (Got correct because I heard Gondwana word in the song so should be Gondi I assumed and turned out to be right) 9. Haryanvi ✅ (Though it was difficult to guess at first glance from sasura and sagre baal words I was able to guess) 10. Santhali ✅ (This time I got right by just making 2nd attempt to mark as Santhali) 11. Baduga ❎ (Got wrong and Irula ✅ was the right one. I didn't know the name of language but I knew that they spoke mixture of Kannada and Tamil. I guessed Baduga because scenery was of nilgiri hills so it could be like that.) 12. Tangsa❎ or Galo✅ (so Galo came right and A and C options seems to be some Korean thing so I eliminated those options in my mind) 13. Burushaski ✅ (Got right after stressing on options) 14. ISL ✅ (Got right because It was sign language and should be Indian) 15. Nicobarese ❎ (Got wrong and it was Bo)

I got 11 right, 2 more I was like "how did I mess this up??" 1. Tulu (👍): Guessed from Kantara ofc 2. Sylheti (👍): I am from Assam and Sylhet was once a part of it, so had done some research earlier on it, Assamese and Sylheti are very closely related 3. Garhwali (👍): I love Uttarakhandi and HP songs, find them quite similar to a certain genre of Assamese and Nepali songs, they occasionally get viral in Assam, so easy one 4. Maithili (🥺): I do have a lot of exposure to Maithili, medieval Assamese literature borrows a lot from it, but still missed it 5. Konkani (👍): Not that difficult, sounds Marathi but isn't 6. Nagamese (👍): Again, being from Assam I have quite a bit of exposure to Nagamese songs, easy 7. Assamese (👍): I am Assamese myself 8. Gondi (👍): The song kept referring to Gondwana, so easy 9. Haryanvi (🥲): I live with a Haryanvi flatmate, so feels very odd not only to miss it but also it somehow still doesn't feel Haryanvi to me 10. Santhali (🥺): Being from Assam again, lot of Santhali origin people in the tea gardens, lot of exposure, but got confused between it and related languages in the options 11. Irula (🥺): Didn't even know the language existed, loved the song, would like to explore more 12. Galo (👍): The place I come from has a sizeable Mising population, which is a similar language, and my mother grew up in Arunachal, so exposure again 13. Barushaski (👍): Sounds Kashmiri but isn't, the other options were obviously off 14. ISL (👍): Pretty obvious, and also, loved that you included it 15. Bo (👍): Totally broke my heart when I read in school years back that this language had gone exist. Maybe is one of the reasons I am very interested in linguistics today. So I recognised this language immediately, from the face of the woman itself Turns out I have personal exposure to many of these languages, and many more from the other languages mentioned in the options not part of the 15 correct ones, feeling lucky to come from a place with so many languages living in close proximity and even smaller (in terms of population) ones expressed prominently in the culture: Assam.

Great effort. I could guess the following correctly based on the sounds and words - 5. Konkani 7. Axomiya 10. Santhali 11. Irula 14. ISL I could guess the following due to the name of the community mentioned in the song - 1. Tulu (name of the community was heard in the song) 6. Nagamese (name of the community was heard in the song) 8. Gondi (name of the community was heard in the song)

In this one video of languages not so widely known, I’ve seen people with different languages that sound different, different cultures, looks, and still United in some mystical way by the nation. I loved how ISL was included. The west speaks so much of inclusion and I’m barely able to relate to them. However, through this video it is clear as crystal how inclusivity can be so beautiful . Also, I never knew that the sign languages are nuanced across the world. Now I feel silly because we gesture things differently everywhere. Love this channel. God bless !

Thank you for making this amazing video and showcasing India's incredible diversity that very few of us are actually aware of. Interestingly, although I speak Konkani at home, I took a little while to be 100% sure about the Konkani song since it is a different dialect. I think that says a lot about our linguistic diversity.

I am from Andaman. I know the history of these tribes. When British entered the islands there was several fights with them with the tribes. Very similar to what is shown in avatar movie. And later, few tribes could save themselves but few tribes, like the one shown here were decimated to merely a population of 20 30 people and they reduced even further as their natural habitat was destroyed.

Sylheti: I am Bengali and familiar with the song 'Aila re noya doman' 4. Maithili: Found some similarity with Bengali again. 5. Naga: The word 'Naga' in the song. 6.Gondi: The words Bastar and Gond 7. Haryanvi: Just dumb luck 8. Santhali: Similarity with Bengali + Other cultural markers in the video 9. Burushakshi: I had already seen the video in Coke Studio Pakistan's channel. 11. ISL: Quite obvious

This was incredibly hard but I have to go listen to it again. Haryanvi sounded like a movie soundtrack from the 50s in "Hindustani." You are one of my favorite channels on all of yt!
