Guessing How Long People Have Played Guitar 

Twenty years in, nailing the power chords.

Me: playing for 12 years Jared: Imma say 3 months.. Me: selling all my 7 guitars and moving on to wood cutting or something

in the end it really does not matter how long you have been playing. Its about how much and how frequently you played in the years you have been doing it.

Jared getting pissed off that he's one or two years off on most of these when it's incredibly impressive that he's guessing them correctly within one or two years.

Some of these people that's been playing for 2 years but youd guess 3 months,is because theyve only played about 3 months in those 2 years.

this is random but I am so damn manly that I stand up to poop

There are many details except years that matter - 1)how many days and hours the guitar has been hanging on the wall 2) If you have changed your guitar type (from classical to acoustic to electric etc - there are many small details there, like effects, acommodating with playing style - whole different world actually) 3) if you have changed your playing style (for example: transition from fingerpicking to picks etc). All of this changes the actual impression of playing experience.

i haven’t even been playing a full year but i play every day for atleast 4-5 sometimes 7-8 hours and i can play paradise city and locomotive full speed he makes the guitar sound hard

I played in a metal band in the 80s we played small clubs around Atlanta GA. When I got married in the 90s I basically stopped playing all together. When I got divorced in 2014 I picked it back up. I can't seem to get back to my previous ability. So I've been playing for 40 years but I'm not as good as these kids today.

This video has made me feel a lot better about my position . I have never known how to compare my playing vs others, every time I look at anyone else they are always better than me and have obviously more talent than I have XD. Thanks for the perspective man!

I can always ballpark it by watching the right hand.. I feel like depending on hand size people use different left hand technique, sometimes not "proper" technique (which makes sense actually, I'm a giant so I have huge hands, I rarely use my pinky but I can get back and forth pretty efficiently).. but the right hand always tells a similar story. ie fluidity, looseness, maintaining a percussive pulse without being too deliberate. The only way to get there is by putting in the work. Some nights you just gotta stay home, metronome and chill.
