It is also a lot of pressure I imagine to keep up appearances as well as maneuver among many powerful other society wives many who would not accept you as your are new money.
@@augustdavis4725Mr. McAllister wrote a book basically exposing the ways of the 0.1% and made many of these “society” families both famous and infamous. He was outcast by Mrs. Astor for it and when he died, none of these people attended his funeral.
donna murphy as queen of new york is such brilliant casting. even if you don’t know who she is you’re like “oh yes this lady is in charge of every room she’s in”

Sua filha não lhe avisou que acabou a 1 temporada ? Estão a fazer a 2 temporada , por isso não há mais episódios . Fique atenta às notícias, já saiu o 1° episódio da 2 temporada .
I can't think of any reason for a lot of what the footmen and butler do in this scene. They certainly wouldn't interrupt the host with a kitchen problem during a receiving line, and they shouldn't have been carrying coats and wraps through the main doors and foyer. There would have been somewhere for them to be stored in the antechamber where people removed them. As for why they switched places, the only thing I can think of is the same reason the palace guards switch places after standing still for so long: to prevent fainting. But who knows.
@@BBRocker75they managed to make one of the most interesting time in history into whatever boring mess this was... by they i mean the "biracial" director who shoehorned a black girl into white elites, even though they search for information but got nothing like this ever happened or could happened....... essentially they focus more on how to shoehorn that black girl more than the actual gilded age storyline
Downtown Abbey has an incredible cast with very famous names especially Dame Maggie Smith. Other actors and actresses are also famous like the one who play these characters: Lady Rose, Lady Mary, Matthew Crawley, Mrs Crawley, Mrs Levinson, Mr Levinson, Lord Sinderby, Lady Flintshire, Carson… Gilded Age series has a little bit more amateur cast probably Broadway musical ones. It feels like watching a Broadway musical without singing but still good tho
